Some things you kinda missed about the ending: this isn’t a time loop thing technically, they just went back 20 minutes before the street swapped and Anne Hathaway just had enough time to call all of those people to evacuate before it swapped. It’s very blink and you miss it but there’s actually 2 of that girl who went to save her parents at the end

This was really cool I would describe it as prehistoric Jumanji film than a Jurassic park film. I think there was a bit critique on 80s neighbourhoods with how the film starts as the whole street as one big community but that community was shallow and didn't endure the catastrophe of travelling in time so everyone just boarded up and closed on themselves instead of forming a Community to survive

I think it’s just called a retro 80s film look. Modern movies tend to push things out of focus to make the actors “pop” more but back in the day it was pretty common to be able to see the entire shot with clarity. They tried to simulate that with how this movie was shot.

This was a very fun watch, enhanced by Roshi and the sister wives' commentaries. After sitting with the movie for a few hours, I have a few issues with it, even though I really enjoyed it and give it high marks. I miss when men behaved more like men in movies like this, and I feel like Obi-Wan didn't. In that time period men were still head of the household, and he didn't feel that way she felt more like she was in charge, and he didn't, and there's no problem with that. I just needed him to be a bit more proactive. As soon as they got in the time travel situation, she immediately locked in. And he behaved more like someone written today, like he was waiting for the police or the military to show up, and I just wanted him to kind of man up a bit and match her energy, like I could understand why she wanted to leave him. I just wish he didn't behave like such a pussy like he should have been carrying a gun too. They both could have been carrying guns. I also don't like when children are written to be idiots In movies like dad basically got killed over a dog. Because the Son went out looking for this dog that ultimately didn't need to be saved, it came back home like they said it would. Another thing; this kid didn't get a single W this entire movie, not A one. I didn't like his love interest, and the sister getting together. Not because I didn't want a same-sex couple to get together, but because... I felt like he should have gotten at least one win, if you're going to give the sister a girlfriend, give her a different girl to save; let them both get women. Also with the square foot radius that was teleported, I feel like it should have been way more people running around. Like I get They were probably killed and eaten in their homes. But this feels kind of like it was written during the pandemic, because the size and area that got sent back in time. You think it would be a town full of people and it just felt really eerily empty.

It's not a loop, though. The original husband from her timeline was eaten and is dead forever. She just replaced that dead husband with this alternate alive husband. Because she did that, this alternate husband got separated from his alternate family to join this main family. So now, the alternate family got sent to fend for themselves against dinosaurs with one less family member, and a lot less neighbors which means those versions of themselves will probably be dinosaur food. And speaking of the neighbors, I doubt she had the time to call every single one of them because she only had like 20 minutes to call and she probably spent at least five of those minutes ordering a pizza. And I also doubt all of the ones she did call listened to her advice, some of them probably thought she was on drugs or something and decided not to leave. So in the end, it's not a loop because you have to treat each version of each character as separate people, because they are. I believe that other girl in the movie felt the same way and ended up saving the alternate version of herself, unlike the main character who basically said "fuck them kids, they're not my problem".

She was annoyed because from her perspective, he is being uselessly optimistic when they need pragmatic leadership. There are times when positivity is more annoying than it is helpful; and trying to convince your family that you're definitely going to survive long enough to find a magical wormhole that is DEFINITELY going to take you back to your time period is one of those times. It treats far too many "Ifs" as "This will happen." If you're a person of faith, maybe that doesn't even register as an issue for you. For those of us that don't just believe something for the sake of believing, you might as well be waffling shite.

She isnt trash for writing that. Its actually a healthy form of coping with stress. Its no different from a musical artist writing a deep lyrical filled song about wanting to end their life. Its a way to release the intrusive thoughts inside your head. She was never going to leave her family but in moments of deep stress and pain thoughts like these cross your mind. Writing them down within a fictional story was a way for her to get rid of those thoughts.

The reaction was fun and the movie has some charm to it, but I am not surprised it bombed at the box office. Not because it is terrible, but it feels confused. Who is the target audience? It feels like the mom is the main character, but I don't see many moms lining up for a dinosaur movie. You think it would be the young boy, but like Roshi said, his life sucks, he gets beaten up, falls off a roof and can't even get close to his crush. I'm not saying that every movie needs to end with someone "getting the girl", but why even have the subplot about him liking her in the first place? Hell the sister has like 20 minutes of screen time as well. This movie almost feels like an anti-summer blockbuster.
