Alex

I wonder if it activates the vision portions of the brain in people with congenital blindness

Kilie Morton

I remember watching this episode as a kid and understanding aangs pain. I remember me thinking at my age of 7 that I wanted aang to murder the sand benders. Because if anyone took what I loved away I wouldn’t care who would be around cause I want what I love back and I’d lash out too. And watching it agian. I personally would have killed the sand benders. But it’s good that aang didn’t.

CJ Dennis

5:46 I always thought that line was just supposed to be a joke. I never thought about it alluding to the white lotus 🤣 🤣.

Saucy Jonathan

Stealing appa? This stupid ass random character deserved to get all he’s bloodline eradicated

JotaroDrake

Aang being pussy about killing niggas will always hold him back to me. Zuko the goat of this universe

WillGlacier

Ngl, wish Roshi would stfu about child booty during emotional ass scenes. No one is laughing with you, it's hella sad AND weird

Jess Min

I agree… but what can you do? I laugh sometimes but not really in a scene like this.

Gabby Boakye-yiadom

One of the rare moments where Aang almost ditched the Monk teachings and just lets his emotions drive him off.

Ballerizana

How many episodes we getting bro 😊😊

Devin Jersey

thank you for the 4 hxh and 2 avatar vids in 1 day. keep up the grind!

Pendragon404

Btw Katara isn't the oldest. Aang and Toph are 12, Katara is 14, and Sokka is 15. Sokka was just high off of cactus juice and couldn't do anything haha.

Mten10th

You guys jump to conclusions very quickly. Sokka saying they wouldn't be able to make it out of the desert was him stating facts, not being ungrateful. Also, as emotional as some of your reactions can be (nothing wrong with it, just making a point) how are ya'll gonna be mad at a 12 year old for having an emotional outburst when he loses someone very close to him.

Shaw

Aang is technically 112 years old, just his biological and mental clock is stuck at 12. He was born a century ago.

Shamar

Yeah bro appa was the only thing he has left of his people

Kingjasco

First life Aang ever took was that insect. Against monk teachings, very big moment for his character

YaBoyRoshi

To be fair I think this episode was designed to get this emotion out of the viewer. Even if I was younger watching this I woulda been mad with how Aang was being. HOWEVER! There is an episode coming up that helps put things into perspective even more for those watching. So again I think this was by design tbh. Toph was really down and they make you sympathize with her and then immediately Aang is being a “dick” when we JUST saw her do all she could to help.

Mten10th

One more thing, you guys judge characters too harshly. This was a very emotionally draining episode where the usually happy go lucky main character was not himself. Sokka was needed for comic relief seeing as this is a children's show.

Mten10th

I would agree if Aang treated people that way on a regular basis. This episode was to show how much Appa means to Aang, and I've never seen anyone get angry at Aang for having an understandable outburst.

Domi

Aang actually turned 13 at the start of season 2

Domi

Honestly I thought their reaction was pretty fair. Aang was being an asshole, to expect for people not to be mad at him for it isn't reasonable.

Mten10th

People love to pretend they would react any differently if they were in Aang's shoes.

Rcl

Lol lupa said blow their clothes.

BeesKnees

I dunno, I think that's a fair reaction. Yeah Appa means a lot to Aang and he's all he has left of his culture but he continued to berate people (both Katara and Toph). It wasn't just one emotional outburst. Plus the audience sees in the last episode and this episode how bad Toph felt about Appa getting taken. So yes Aang's reaction is understandable but it's equally understandable to be angry seeing him lash out since the info we get as the audience helps us sympathize with Toph.

Cablemonkey

So I can’t count how many times I’ve seen this, and that never fully registered... wow

Pendragon404

I couldn't remember if he got older during the series (since it's been 10+ years since I first watched Avatar) but on the wiki fandom it says he's 12 throughout the series

HollowedSlayer

Aang killing that Vulture-Hornet was a very big deal for his character, foregoing his monk teachings and acting purely based on emotion. Shows how much Appa means to him and how distraught he is.

BeesKnees

Huh? I just said both are understandable lol. Did you not read what I said?

Maddhax

bruh why y'all hate sokka so much lmao

L

Uhhhh I don't think Katara is the oldest one. I am pretty sure Sokka is her older brother.... Where the fuck you get that info. from Roshi? I know obviously technically Aang is the oldest but even Sokka is older than Katara is.

Eugene Conner

Just to add to the sandbending answer she had to bend sand to get footing to keep the library up and not sink.

BERMY

dude people like you need to chill, like I see you replying to all these comments trying to be "right" but not calm down it aint that deep.

BeesKnees

No? Me talking about his behavior is to explain what people could be mad about or have a problem with even if they sympathize with Aang, not dismissing his reaction. Did you skip the end where I said they’re both understandable?

Davon Thomas

The first time we see aang talk while in the avatar state. So good

Lalisa Truong

Technically the first time was back in S1 during the Winter Solstice episodes lol. Remember the "I'm ready"? The second time was at the end of S1 after the Moon Spirit was killed with the "No, it's not over".

HollowedSlayer

Bro for real, whenever Aang talks in the Avatar state I get chills. Thought it was the most badass shit when I was younger.

Belt Cedd

"The golden booty" Bruh I can't with this man! 🤣🤣🤣

The Pebble

Hallucinations are literally in your mind, so idk why they would think if they can't see, nothing would happen lmao

J Sampson

IMO Katara held it down this episode

sim

why are you so emotional over a kids show from 2004

Mten10th

They seem to only value characters who have been shown to be successful in fights, and since the show has yet to give Sokka any actual fights, they seem to view him as useless and get overly annoyed with him. That's how I see it at least.

Domi

The show takes place in the span of a year, so by the end everyone is +1 year older, including Aang. During the show running, it was confirmed by the creators that Aang aged up in season 2.

aqualite

If he is biologically and mentally 12 then he's 12. It's that simple.

PS

Lupa angry Sokka for being too loud is irony at it's best

saintvenom

You speak from the position as having already watched the series. Everything is easy to critique from hindsight.

Arsean Wilbon

Rage trigger fire. Being rigid and unmoving is for earth, calm and cool is water, free and light hearted and neutral is air.

George

Bruh these ppl domt have any u derstanding just cause youre in hindsight domt mean someome JUST watching it has as well. They boast n brag n complain how ur not being empathetic to the characters, yet ironically theyre completely unempathetic to eho theyre watching... the people reacting... Check yourselves

George

Moral of the story dont comain about some being unempathetic when u at that moment are doing percisly that. Youre actually the least empathetic and being a party pooper. This low self awarness really irks me lmfao. Wow

Bona Fide

I am so teary-eyed. Every time for this episode :'(

AK Jay

Something funny happens Lupa: *opens mouth as wide as possible* JAKAJAJAJAJAJAKAHAHAJA

Squartoise

"She's surprisingly the calm one for once" Katara is usually the calm one, her outbursts from The Chase episode aren't her norm, lol.

seireidoragon .

You have to also remember that Appa is Aang's spirit guide just like Roku has his dragon. Appa's probably been with him since he was born which is why he's so upset.

Duke

Aang and Appa Met when Aang was a kid, you see it when they were both dreaming it

eastbaynick

24 and I still cry when katara tries to calm him down here.

Destinee Yang

Sokka is actually the oldest out of them 4

Chris Hawking

Katara is the m.v.p this episode 👍

Q NAsty

I straight up yelled out loud laughing at “I knew it”

Kanoa

"catcus jackass, high as hell," bruh y'all reactions kill me lmao

Gangsta Penguin

Toph wasn't just stopping the library from sinking. she stopped WST from dragging it into the spirit world

Kalah Dolman

I don’t care what anyone says, Aang shouldn’t have been yelling at Toph like that. Yeah, he was emotional and blah blah blah, but if he wants to blame someone for Appa’s capture than he has nobody to blame but himself. He decided to leave Appa behind up there, and yes it was for Appa’s own good, but it was his decision to make. He has no business turning on the girl who literally just saved their lives.

Soiren

It's actually quite common to act like that. It's in a way survivor's guilt. You have to remember, Appa is, in a way, all of his original family left. That's nothing against the rest of them, but he's known Appa since he was much younger. That response is normal, even more so for a child. That's why adults have to take it on some level, yes talk reason to them, because you don't want them thinking their behavior or response is ok, but you also have to understand where it comes from. A lot of kids whose parent's died, of cancer or an accident, lash out at everyone around them because they don't know how else to process the emotions. You have to remember, Aang is just a kid, he isn't ready for the level of responsibility people put on him.

Kalah Dolman

Well I just wish that once Appa was found and the world was right again that their had been a scene where Aang and Toph got a chance to sit down together and he could apologize for the way he treated her after she literally saved his life and tell her that he didn’t blame her for what happened.

Kalah Dolman

You little bitch! Lmao, Roshi, you are just hilarious, and you channeled everything I was thinking and feeling in this episode, especially about Aang and Toph. You can tell Aang wasn’t thinking at all when he was letting his rage control him and shouting at Toph like that. How could Toph have gone in to get him if she was the only thing holding up the building?

cheezeblade

everytime lupa and roshi say the same thing at the same time.

WeavyBoo

Katara is a g in this episode. Sokka's clapped, Toph is actually blind now, Aang doesn't want to move on. She just pushes thru "Everyone, hold hands" and they march on

faded

Doesn’t matter if Toph’s blind, definitely still would’ve been tripping lmao.

Koria Hayes

The proof that Appa is his: they both can airbend AND have matching arrows >:3
