BSteppa

How does the anime lack in fleshing out bondrewds character?

Kryto Currencies

Mhm ok, this guy is a fucking mentally deranged lunatic, idgaf about your curiosity, you like that kind of person? You are deranged as well...he aint meant to be liked, you understand why he does, but you don't agree...tf 💀

X

lmao I suggest you urgently improve your reading comprehension. Where in my reply did I say I "like" the character. I'm pretty much also in the camp of understanding what he does but can't go as far as agreeing with or "liking" him. He proved to be highly complex and controversial though with different people having very different interpretations of him, requiring a very careful reading of his character instead of simply lumping him together with all the other lazily stereotypical villains, which is the point.

X

You can easily see if it you read the corresponding part of the manga (it's not long, just less than 3 volumes), or you can search for a summary online. Inexplicably the anime left out or changed quite a few key frames from the manga. The scene where the townsfolk discuss Bondrewd's legacy might be comprehensible due to not wanting to hire all those VAs again. The others less so.

Fini Reus

What exactly makes Bondrewd a "complex" guy? He's doing experiments on young, innocent women and fucking them up in hellish, horrific ways. He's literally isekai Joseph Mengele, he needs to die horribly ASAP

W-Fox

Let's be real. If this were reality, nobody would like this "complicated" character.

Teddy McDonald

"once this rona stuff is behind us" 💀

Angelic H

It took me joining Patreon to learn Lupa’s real name lol

JustThatOtherDude

IT'S BEEN ALMOST TEN YEARS AND NANACHI CRRYYING STILL FUCKS ME UP WTF

JustThatOtherDude

What makes Bon interesting is that he legitimately loves his victims othewise the Abyss won't let experiments work... I do agree the movie skipped out or was too subtle on that detail

Amateur10

yeah it is a unique take on a villain instead of being a stereotypical "mad scientist" or a "the ends justify the means" character, he truly loves the people he puts through hell, and sees them and their suffering as critical pieces to express his love, and for progress! also he is an awful unforgivable person he's just a unique villain, and if anyone watches the movie again notice how he's never mad or sad or anything but upbeat, even when he's not around the children, he's so sickeningly happy even though he throws morals and every ethic behind, he still loves you, and the process.

WillGlacier

that's still fucking stupid. So if you mom said "I love you" as she fucking cuts you open and turns you into a human gas tank for the sake of "scientific progress" WITHOUT YOUR CONCENT she is still "redeemable" I swear half these "Bondrewd isn't that bad" people need to get their fucking heads checked at an asylum

WillGlacier

"Everybody kind of thought Bondrewd is a piece of trash" And you think he's NOT?! Get your fucking head checked. Look at Mitty and tell me he isn't a piece of trash

Mohammad Taha

This might be a late asf reply, but what everyone seems to miss is that's everyone here is equally fucked up. The other white whistles and probably some black whistles that go there know what he is doing. Even the kids here have some fucked up morals for kids lol.

Omari Hill

I didn’t know Lupa’s name was Paul lol

Gabriel Souza

Bro wtf, i've never felt as much hatred towards a character as I felt towards this fking dude. I'm usually on villains side in shows but this one is just trash.

FellwindXCII

This has gotta be one of the most traumatic anime episodes ever.

KENXO

done for season 1 (01/17/25) (damn this reaction is during c19 time is craazyy)

Bobby Coles

I forgot in these early reactions she states the obvious so much

Jeremy Estrella 🇩🇴

The third movie was release which continues their story to the abyss.. hope you guys react to it.. it was straight 🔥

YaBoyRoshi

Where did u watch it? I only saw a cam available but would love to support and pay for it if its available

Alex cleveland

I appreciate u Roshi that u support the actually content ur watching. I know a lot of anime reaction YTs who don't do that🤟🏽

Jeremy Estrella 🇩🇴

I saw the clean cam on 4K tv 🤷🏽‍♂️ so It was watchable for me lol. If I find a good link I’ll shot it on the discord.

Hypemaster

so far they just have a high quality cam. I just torrented it off of nyaa but I respect taking the noble route and waiting it out as well (I have no patience since I read the manga and been waiting for this forever lol)

Shaw

bruh he literally murdered like hundreds or even thousands of children down there.

Anonymous

From here, this shit gets so much darker......

L

So do all the movies so far just continue the actual story? I am confused as to whether it would be necessary to watch them cause if they don't really continue the current story line I don't see the point....

Hypemaster

the recent once dawn of the deep soul continues the story

Shylex

Season 2 is coming watch the trailer

BeesKnees

The first two movies that came out in 2019 are mostly recap movies. The one that came out recently (Dawn of the Deep Soul) is a canon sequel that adapts the next arc.

Kaizer_Crown

I feel for Sheera, being a mom, shit like that just makes you want to jump in the show and murk the guy.

Kaizer_Crown

As long as the Trap looks and acts feminine I ain’t got no problem

stallin4 Stalin

SMH talkin all that shit about mitty until the backstory drops

Tev Overhaul

Season 2 might come out like in another 2 years. After the movie, there's not enough martial to do a second season cause the current arc after the movie is at the climax but it's not finished. Also, I heard when they are working on the anime and movie the manga drops a chapter every 2-4 months currently there is 56 out right now due to the author working on the anime/movie as well

Cristian

My 5 volumes are coming soon. Can’t wait to start reading.

Rockworth444

(I know I write a lot, please forgive me) To give you guys a bit of a timeline: Nov 2017, 2 months after the season 1 finished airing, at an anime event in Tokyo with the voice actors and producers, a second season (Or just more content, hard to find good info) was announced to be going forward. I remember reading that this came as a surprise to even the voice actors, as they had not been told yet if a second season was going to happen or not. Since the end of the first season there have been 3 movies. The first two, Made in Abyss: Journey's Dawn and Made in Abyss: Wandering Twilight, are the episodes clumped together into a movie format. These don't need reacting to. The third movie, Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul, is a canon continuation of the story from where the anime left off. It was meant to show in American theaters in April 2020, but with the virus, the showing was postponed. From what I've heard and read, it is possible to find the movie online through some mean or another, through not-official-sites. There are trailers available for the movie and one that compiles a timeline of things along with parts from each of the trailers. I prefer to avoid spoilers as best as I can, but they could be a possibility to react to. Just a final note on production of anime that I've seen: when it comes to shows getting additional seasons, when those seasons release is very much tied to how well the show is received, the amount of content they have to work with from the source material, AND if they already planned to make multiple seasons. "Overlord" had 3 seasons in under 2 years. Either they knew they were gonna make those seasons and kept working or knew it was popular enough for them to do so. On the other hand "Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?" took 4 YEARS to get a second season. With this in mind, I feel we'll be getting a second season sometime in the next couple years, if this virus stuff didn't push the production timeline back AND they have enough content for a second season (Some people think the ark after what the movie shows isn't enough for a second season) TLDR: Animation takes time, Story continuation movie postponed showing, but available on backwood sites, I believe we'll get a second season next year or so.

Tyler

Regarding season 2 it has been announced and greenlit but there are no dates yet. It seems you already know the third movie is a direct sequel to season 1. Still waiting on that to come to DVD/BR/digital release.

a0h0l0c0

you guys should react to the trailers or just check them out they’re really hype+movies always have better production/quality so it’s gonna be 🔥

a0h0l0c0

+only the third movie( dawn of the deep soul ) is a continuation of the story so it’s like s2. the first 2 movies are just recap

Surazaku

I hope you guys find a good version of the movies to watch we have to see the journey continue and we have to see that bastard get whats coming to him.

Surazaku

When you finish all that reading you will have to let me know how it ends.

UniversalBeauty

Season 2 was greenlit for later this year

L

Nanachi is the cutest thing in this show. Dare I say the most Kawaii character in all of anime (In my opinion). I will protecc and I will never once type her name in Rule 34. That is the greatest honor I can give such an adorable character.

Dakotah

As others have said, the 3rd movie continues the story and they also announced in a preview that either a season 2 or another movie would be made to further continue the story. For anyone interested, here’s a link to the trailer which promotes the original series, the movies, and the announcement of a second season/4th movie (I’m really hoping it’s a second season though): https://youtu.be/l1kuOyZjXDo Also as someone up to date with the manga, there’s more than enough material for a second season, and the story only gets better and better!

kurumi Tokisaki

You have to do some dark stuff to survive and go deeper in the abyss. This begs the question: Will Lyza be the saint we think she is?

HeMustBeKawaii

Probably won't see this comment, but just in case! Wanted to confirm for you guys, Maruruk is a boy! That conversation you kinda see between Reg and him, (Epsiode 6) was about the fact that he get's mistaken for a girl a lot. It's not confirmed, but "assumed" that Ozen "makes" him wear that female attire, probably to his chagrin! ;)

Dylan

Bondrewd is so fucking trash man, the fact that he did that to children and disnt give a single shit. The movie will make you hate him even more

HitmanDave

As far as I know, there's currently no way to watch the movie that takes place after this season finale. It released in Japan on January 2020 and was supposed to release in April 2020 but had to be postponed. And there is a season 2 coming but that was also postponed.

Belt Cedd

Dammit I promised myself I wouldn't cry at this again. 😭😭😭

Damiester

Mitty might've been a better cave raider than Riko would given her attitude and bravery.

itzsheera

Yeah it was rough

Alex cleveland

Made in Abyss is confirmed for S2 and a movie thats canon as well. So its gonna be like Demon Slayer, on how they doing it. IDK y Rosh thought the anime wasn't getting a season 2 or a movie. I mean Vinland Saga is on amazon prime and its getting a S2 and a movie too I think.

TrackHoodie

Thanks for another great series guys! Keep em coming! Not sure if you care or noticed, but the OP and the EP are sung by Riku and Reg (I can't unhear Killua from the VA) lol. Towards the end of the season when Nanachi is introduced, Nanachi was mixed into the EP as well!

sim

i mean it was just announced a couple days ago no? he may have checked at the beginning of the series or just before the announcement was made, the description literally said hes ready to watch the movie

Alex cleveland

Nah, the movie and S2 has been announced for months. And what I meant when Roshi was talking about the show not having a S2, my thing was that Vinland Saga was on amazon prime and it was alr announced for a movie and a S2. SO I didnt understand why he was thinking that for Made in Abyss.

Discorded

got another month of tier3 just to see this

TheToweringOTK

The production for this show just appears to be moving more slowly than most. And I think they've been waiting for the manga author to churn out more material to work with. There's a teaser which shows clips from the first season and some from the last movie ("Dawn of the Deep Soul") before a few flashes of the second season. There's also a second trailer which shows more new material from Season 2. So, I do think they're getting closer to releasing it.

LiquidXGravity

I heard season 2 is supposed to be coming out December 21st 2020.

PennyWhysTV

The kid with blue hair is a Boy

godUsoland

Grand-Daddy Longnuts

Finnishdoggo

Hungi Kim

is it just me or did nanachi's cabin literally look like mitty

Ali Sodeq

lol It cures anecdotes. I dont care how much anecdotes and antidotes sound alike that has to be the only time that sentence has ever been said or even thought of.

razgrizraven

He looks like ya boy from Deadspace.

Darien Daugherty

"After a long wait, Kinema Citrus has finally renewed the second season of the anime. The end credits of the Dawn Of The Deep Soul movie featured a 'To be continued' message. The next day, on January 18, 2020, the anime's official website confirmed the news. Aug 17, 2020" Season 2 is confirmed :)

East_Coast_Overseer

"Yeah I'll kill Mitty, just let me catch these Z's real quick."

Don't Care

Never in a million years did I think I would hear ANYONE make an oblongs reference; Well played Roshi.

Arknightoni

I'm definitely late to this but good luck with the hopes of a season 2 lol I mean on a better note a game was announced so that's the closest we're getting to anything new from this

Jonatan Tercero

Season 2 has been announced for a while now lol

Arknightoni

Oh shit now that I didn't hear about

NecDW4

Its confirmed in the manga Marulk is a boy, and Ozen forces him to wear the dress.

2026-10-11 14:00 God that finale was impactful. The two biggest things that had me in my feels was Mitty's death and finding out Lupa's real name is PAUL. I need a memory wiping device to forget this information. Paul is no more there is only Lupa.
2022-07-14 22:47

Kaitsu Tokiyas

" how is that posible ? " hey its gendou ikari wistle

Drake Rage

Fuck, that was horrible. I hope your soul returned to Nanachi ❤️ I don't think all those kids are immortal since the Plotting Hands Whistle dude experimented with trying to kill Mitty about 9 times.

ShaquanVirse

Imagine if Mitty just came back after he did all that

Steven Fechter

Reminder that mitty got immortality because bonedrewed told her "if you die partway, nanachi will be hit with the curse" in that moment, she desired to live so nanachi wouldnt die too. so the expression of her blessing was immortality.

Steven Fechter

Did you not realize that lupa is an anagram of paul?

Mozart Waddell
>>87649236

No. I only caught on to it when I heard Roshi say his name for the first time. I've seen some people call him Paul in the yt comments but I could never. I hate being familiar with someone I have no personal connection with.

Mavereth

Same way that Roshi is an anagram for Shiro

X

Everybody kinda thought Bondrewd "is a piece of trash" when they only got to this part. And then he turned out to be such a complicated character in the Prushka arc, especially in the manga (the movie didn't do him justice at all). (Everybody in this story is batshit out of their mind but there's no absolute good or evil in this story, with Riko probably the craziest of them all.) Tsukushi is a genius.
