Mako had cancer when he was recording the voicelines and the song. And yes, Lu Ten's likeness was based off a young Mako.

They did, but Roshi said it's not fixable or something, at least the first part of the episode is ok

Jimmy

RIP to the OG voice actor for Irho, Makoto Iwamatsu!

Earphone Jack

Iroh’s tale had me in tears. 🥺😢

Ally

Man I was waiting for this one RIP 😔✊

Shamar

Wasn’t expecting an avatar episode this early 😳

Chad Valencia

Hell yeah finally at one of my top 5 eps of the series

Gabby Boakye-yiadom

Feels, feels, feels, and more feels for your viewing pleasure.

Assimilater

Leaves from the vine......

Silver Wolf

I cry every time on this episode

Father Feugo

In case you didn't catch it, Mako is the voice of Iroh

Bolarinwa Olabimtan

I like how all 3 of them reacted to the robber's stance :,D

SlyMorris

Yeah guys, the VA of Iroh passed away around this time, I think he finished his lines for season 2? I'm not too sure if he did or not

SlyMorris

The in honor of Mako thing was for the VA

Belt Cedd

RIP Mako. Thank you for voicing Iroh and giving an entire generation tea and wisdom.

ChrisC

The Tale of Iroh fucks me up every time

Clouddius Cozz’ee

I cry everytime I this episode iroh is my uncle 💪🏾🤙🏾

godUsoland

The Tale of Iroh to this day still gets me teary-eyed. RIP Mako. You and Uncle Phil helped inspire me.

The Pebble

I was seriously lucky enough to grow up with a Grandfather pretty just like Iroh. He might not have as many philosophical gems, but I have never met any two kinder and realer men. The true badasses in this world don't have to act like it.

Shaw

It's not filler

Kingjasco

Ain’t nobody laughing when they watch Tom and Jerry bruh

kyodoodle

I noticed some "echo" starting Zuko's tale. I hope is only just for this episode, it's kinda distranting :(

SaviorOfNirn

Understudy, not brother. And it isn't that noticeable.

Robinson

“Im gay”😂😂

Tre

He threw my man saka out like jazzy Jeff on Fresh prince of bel- air 😂😂😂

Omega Sirius

That's not a filler episode.

Killjoy

wasn't filler

I probably slightly missed lining up the episode with background audio. The reason u can hear it so clear is because I overlay the actual audio from the episode with the audio from the TV. Its rare but sometimes I miss cause its like surgery lol

Anonymous

As Omega said, this wasn't a filler. :D

PS

The show inset audio becomes out of sync towards the end of the video

Belt Cedd

Katara and Toph having a sincere moment. Roshi: They about to fuck. Me: Bruh why?! 🤣🤣🤣

DY

"So you really think I could be a great masseur?" Who wants to give bowlegged Joe an opportunity to move from stick-ups to rub downs? lol Good episode though. To one of the further up comments, Iroh's voice actor finishes out the season.

Oax Al

RIP: Mako😢

L

One of the best episodes in this series. Especially because of the tribute to Mako. RIP Mako. It was kind of funny that I never knew anything about what happened with him as a child and years later I find out his original voice actor passed away in the middle of it all.....

KM

I definitely consider this a filler episode too (maybe not counting the very end), but it's one of the best filler episodes I've ever seen!

Alrick Campbell

mandem tired a Roshi's dad jokes lmao p.s. yes Sheera, you are included in "mandem"

kurumi Tokisaki

Even though toph is displayed as a bad ass and hard ass a rock. She is still a little girl, and words can hurt more than physical damage sometimes especially when you are a young girl.

Senjioh

I am finally able to pledge to you guys.

HollowedSlayer

Mako Iwamatsu was the original voice of Iroh, he passed away in 2006 ;___;

Narutofreak94

Mako was Iroh's original voice actor by the way. His tribute hits hard every time I watch this episode.

LUPASAN

Oh shit for real?

HollowedSlayer
>>36431734

Yeah, makes the story hit harder, I believe he finished his voicework for season 2 before he passed. I've also heard, not sure if it's true, that they used a younger Mako's likeness for the picture of Lu Ten.

Hoodlum JoeBro

Ahh, the episode that makes you a legend for making it past Uncle’s song 😭😭

Diego

🎶 Brave soldier boy, comes marching home 😭

Eugene Conner

Even though it kind of sucks, that "They about to fuck" comment now makes me want you guys to watch Legend of Korra.

Eugene Conner

I won't say which part, but this video makes me want you guys to see Legend of Korra after ATLA.

I hadn't even considered the fact that you would need to do that. Makes sense because otherwise you either get the audio quality of the speakers playing into a microphone, or all of you would have to wear headphones which would be a bit counter productive. Thanks for the effort you guys have put into this! I watched most of this series as a kid, but you don't always catch all the episodes on TV. Exciting to see you guys go through the series.

Kingjasco
>>36411785

You can enjoy it but I didn’t like it. I also hated spongebob, a show that people seemed to love for some reason

R3APER

Interesting fact: Mako (whom Iroh's tale was dedicated to) was the original voice actor for Aku in "Samurai Jack "

Dimitri Zackaev
>>36483727

Mako Iwamatsu, yeah. He passed away almost 15 years ago. His friend does his "double" as Iroh's VA.

Dimitri Zackaev

Lupas straight up said "Panther-cat, because they are a combination of something" as if it wasn't redundant lmao

Sunshine Hall

Of course Toph's feet is crusty. You'd have hella calluses if you didn't wear shoes because you need to see with your feet.

Miguel. Camacho

Everyone gangsta until Uncle Iroh starts singing “Leaves from the Vine 😢

Madison Hagan

Iroh's voice actor passed away so this episode with iroh is in honor of him.

NIKSEEN

What makes me the saddest is that the tree where Iroh's sitting and singing is the actual place where Lu Ten died.

Fabbrizio Calamitous

"This episode might be filler" Breaking news: Roshi has been invited to Lake Laogai.

Kai

So Sokka is Dolemite

Michael McCarthy
>>36411785

To each their own. Spongebob and Tom and Jerry are completely different shows as well. I love Tom and Jerry. Especially when Jerry runs passed the dog (I forget his name) and he slaps the shit outta Tom. 🤣

Chris Detlef

That Iroh story gets me every time

ok

I love how hard Sheera is cringing during the Zuko tale

Julius

Surprising nobody mentioned that at some point the sound wasn’t synced.
