Jason
>>96520486

i mean it makes sense no? why wouldnt they chain them up?

Rin B
>>96520486

Yeah, it does make sense. They needed to prevent them from bending. It's hard to watch for me though. War is so inhumane.

Jarren Jenkins

Their whole journey was about doing things the right way or their own way. Blood Bending is extremely cruel and makes Katara and Hamma no better than the Fire Nation if she used it on them. It goes against Katara's entire cahracter so of course she would never use it. If all you think about is power, it is that same power that will crush you.

stanley drury anderson jr
>>107566226

YEAH buttttt if this was a more mature show which it isn’t she would have sometimes to defeat a monster you have to become one or at the very least think like one

Kay
>>107566226

Buddy get outta here with that. I agree it's fucked up and it makes sense for her not to want to use it, but its not the same as being a genocidal imperialist

Josh
>>107566226

Very naive ideology….during a war, morality is out the window, we all understand how wrong it is to bloodbend, but that type of thinking will get you killed in war… you need to be absolutely heartless… such as biting your opponents neck off in order to survive a hand to hand encounter or resort to doing cowardly tricks to take down your opponents..War is the very extreme when it comes to cruelty, if you don’t prepare yourself mentally to be ruthless towards your enemies, you will be the one to die .

Jarren Jenkins
>>107566226

Josh, as a Marine Corps veteran, I won't let you lecture me on how war should be fought. Morality is not out the window during war, which is why we have war crimes and the Genova Convention. There's a difference between being prepared to kill and being a mindless savage.

Jarren Jenkins
>>107566226

Kay, it makes her out to be as evil as them was my point. Not like it really matters though since she could only use it during a full moon so it's kind of a niche power to start with. I'm just calling out how she was right to stay true to her character and beliefs. She is powerful enough as it is, without blood bending.

Mollywopper

big ups lupa them niggas was wylin. Wildly intrusive and fucked in every way. So many false dichotomy arguments too, acting like its the only option to win. Its wildly effective yea, but so are nerve gases, and those are outlawed literally everywhere. Wrong is wrong.

EclecticSkeptic
>>114111361

It just depends on the scenario. On a battlefield you wouldn’t last long with that mindset. But in the heat of the moment, you never know what you’re going to do

Ariana
>>114111361

Nah you tweaking 💀 they murdered her tribe, killed her mom, used a comet to invade the world, and we supposed to feel sum type of way about her using a type of bending that’ll give her the upper hand? Nasty work.

SkipHearts47

I believe Hama was best friends with Grangran. That’s my theory.

RowdyCloudy
>>37382341

Fr. I was like, this is blood bending?! Shit damn near looks like an exorcism, wtf 😳😬.

RowdyCloudy
>>37335141

"you either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become a villain".

RowdyCloudy
>>37335020

Especially in Korra, when that dude had the whole room looking twisted up like a pretzel 🥨. 😳😳😳

Belle M
>>114111361

No Spoliers: This is late but I think the argument is more how Katara feels about using it which is: intense pain on the person she's using it on + as she says to Hama in the episode 'reaching inside someone and controlling them' is something that feels wrong to her: is enough to make her not want to do it in combat. And lets be honest she doesn't even need it to wreck everyone consistently lol

afrocentric distortion
>>40836149

this is actually untrue because the raid where they took hama was the penultimate raid where they took every single waterbender alive at the time in the south pole, even hama says in the episode that she was the "last waterbender." they only came back one more time once katara was born to do a final raid because after katara was born she was the real last waterbender in the southern tribe. but either way you can't blame a prisoner for trying to escape, you can only blame the captors and murderers who commit the acts.

bl00dyst4r
>>114111361

ngl if you get invaded, i think you're justified to use the gas. defend yourself by any means necessary.

Omar Harriott
>>37337410

its a sequel that builds on the previous characters and lore thats like saying you can't compare dbs to dbz

Earphone Jack

I’m glad Katara learned how to use blood bending. It’s something one should learn how to use if they can, but just not use it.

Danny Patterson

The thing about Blood bending was that it takes a toll on a person's mental state and will make them darker and darker the more they use it. It's a lot easier said than done to "Use it when you have to."

JotaroDrake

Katara pussy for not using it again

JotaroDrake
>>141583868

Nigga getting spoiled in Avatar. In 2024. It’s Friday, you ain’t got no job and you ain’t got shit to do. So go outside and think about your life 🙂

Thomas

Bloodbending and healing are why I would want to be a waterbender!

Lovely LovelyB

hama was learning it for years.. is way older than katara and more experienced and yet the whole “you aren’t the only one who gets power from the moon “ thing was able to best hama…? plot armor at its finest. it seems to me that aang has to keep learning and training at these things but katara trains with a waterbender in the north pole one time and can do it all. yeah right.

pilbil
>>148555108

i kinda like that tho. it kinda shows that katara is so masterful and naturally inclined that she picks up on things way quicker than her own teachers. i feel like focusing on things like "plot armor" kind of takes away the fiction part of these stories.

Divinerights
>>148555108

Hama is old, and Katara is a teen born in war who is training with a gifted avatar and is already pretty gifted herself. Katara was also in a situation of protecting herself and her friends and family, Hama has no real desire to actually be the villain in Kataras story. All this to say that Katara would absolutely break free from Hama's control

Gabriel Souza

The old lady is 100% right here, the author really tried to make it look bad but failed miserably

killilu
>>71309868

i bet my life savings you were a yeagerist if you've even seen aot lol

Dyastro

How the fire nation boat was frozen! That's the boat from the first episode!

Maseter
>>150985627

Nah, she was 100% right until she started attacking random civilians out of personal vengeance.

Dylan
>>37923083

So if you had a gun and someone was beating you to death you wouldn’t use it. Stfu, people like you are the type who’d be pissing themselves running to the gun faster than anybody 🤦‍♂️

Jdogzero Silverblade
>>150985627

her banning it in legend of korra was also stupid. blood bending could have been used in the medical field. she banned it because she didn't like it and that's the only reason. and it led to amon.

Kurumi

when I watch this ep I immediately think of the Blair Witch project 😭 shit use to creep me out as a kid

Jonathan Acosta

Katara is LITERALLY bout to start folding people

Cablemonkey

Only at night during a full moon though....

Cls

Yo this nigga got dreads? How you grow dreads in two seasons?

R3APER

Been waiting for this reaction since yall first started watching this series.

Anonymous

I hope the next reaction yall drop a triple. Cause the next episode is 9 but after that is a two parter. So hopefully y'all give us 10 and 11 on the same day

R3APER

Fact: this episode was the Halloween special for that year which is why it has such spooky vibes. Also Bloodbending is extremely rare for even master waterbenders, like 1:1000. only can be utilized during a fullmoon's lunar cycle when the waterbending is the strongest and only by those with the natural talent.

Fano

Thanks for confirming Korra reactions. I'd pay more for faster reactions to get there. ;-) But I do appreciate what you're doing :) Thank you

Davis Gentry

Bloodbending is OP, but it has it's limitations. She said bloodbending can only be done during a full moon so it's not like you can use it whenever. Also, I really think you'll like Korra, the themes are a lot darker and they had more freedom with the censorship. Great reaction as always!

fwooju

all is fair in love and war

lisa son

water bending is the most OP type. the variety and versatility of it is insane.

User100

Y'all gonna watch korra too??? Lesgo!!!

Davon Thomas
>>37333666

Wouldnt call it more freedom. It ended up getting taken off TV and put on their website for only streaming purposes

Davon Thomas

There is another bending style that can reach inside of people. And i feel it's much more deadly

Davis Gentry
>>37333666

Oh ok makes sense, but still the themes in Korra are a lot darker so I guess nickelodeon was more lenient.

Anthony Williams

Next series is lit, but it’s gonna piss you off at the same time.

Kelsey Brown

All I'm going to say is keep that same energy when you watch season 1 of Legend of Korra.

R3APER

Also during the flashback you see how the Fire Nation ship from the very first episode ended up trapped in ice

Belt Cedd

You and many others have made very valid points about the usefulness of blood bending, but let me ask you something? Are you comfortable with using rape against your enemies? Because that's literally what blood bending kinda is. The person being controlled is in extreme pain while being forced upon by the user. It's useful in a wartime mindset, but morality wise it's just wrong. Blood bending is basically force lightning from Star Wars. It's literally the evil side of water bending. I remember thinking the same way about Katara mastering this and becoming super powerful when I was younger. But as I got older and watched Korra I realized that blood bending may be the cruelest form of bending in this series.

Droh

oop cant wait til they watch the finale and LoK

Shamar

Just like roshi said just wait till you watch korra bro, shit finna get CRAZY

Senjioh

I see both side but morally its a messed up technique.

Senjioh
>>37333865

Would air benders be able to rip air out of someones lungs air benders could be just as lethal I feel.

Jasmin36

The thing about blood bending is that it can only be used on a full moon, so she can't just use it on Ozai

Jonathan Acosta
>>37333621

Big facts. I enjoy their reactions way too much, and I'm more than happy paying for patreon tbh

MackeyMoose

Koraa is waaaay darker. That's all Im gonna say.

Jack Mihoff

i always thought that this technique was too broken, like roshi said cant they just take the blood out of the person or like turn it into ice and stab them from the inside

DanielleM

This episode and the episode with Koh the Face Stealer freaked me out as a kid! Lol! Thanks for the reaction!

Chai Tea

Amazing episode! Remember Katara’s skills in Book 1 compared to now... BRUH! This episode is one of the many reasons I would want to be a waterbender! I’m hyped for y’all to dive into Korra after the conclusion of ATLA :

Shado

Yo Kora gets dark as shit...yall will definitely be hyped on that

Brenda

I think y’all are forgetting that they’re kids. Katara is 14!!! I don’t think I’d be able to do what Hama did but I also understand that she needed to do whatever it took to survive. It’s a complex topic! And like others in the comments have been saying, there’s limitations to it. Loved the reaction!! I am so excited for the rest of the season 🥰💖

Manu

Should bloodbending be considered an unethical practice? Should you have the right to control a person's body even if it's supposed to result in a good ending? Bring this up in your philosophy classes lolol

Darksteel78

Only thing that keeps bloodbending from being OP is it's only usable during the full moon. Other than that, water benders would be folding everybody, literally!

Lalisa Truong

Bloodbending has one major limitation though, which is the fact that it can only be used during a full moon. And as there is some validity in using a rare and powerful technique against your enemies, you honestly can't blame Katara for viewing this technique as horrible and even evil. The idea of "enforcing your own will on another" and to "reach inside and take control of them" is pretty horrible and invasive/violating. To someone like Katara, bloodbending basically opposes everything she stands for. So to be forced to learn it was of course not only going to traumatize her, but leave a very negative view of it overall. Katara stated once before that one's bending was a part of the person and will always be a part of them no matter what. Learning something she can never unlearn and the thought of it now always being a part of her? Makes sense why she cried like that at the end....Hama also essentially won in the end. She laid out her plans and successfully fulfilled her twisted desire of birthing another bloodbender.

Rcl

In this season we see the dark side of firebending and water bending. Combustion bending and Bloodbending.

Danny

everyone says all is fair in love and war until child soldiers start popping then ppl start to question lol

Jason Lupas

Just saying blood bending is like a taboo thing to do in their universe . Its like if we use poison gas on a populace were at war against . It would be considered in humane in our eyes .

Noah Burke

If you stoop to the level of your enemy, you've already lost

Lynn Walker

Yes I was hoping y’all would watch Korra 🙌

Darksteel78
>>37334011

Like torture, a larger than comfortable number of people find it both useful and necessary, but it is morally repugnant in almost every instance.

Anonymous

The avatar state is natural, but with control over it, its a good thing to have. Bloodbending is like the dark side of the force its just unnatural and not right. And just keep in mind, not everyone can do every kind of element. Like not every one can metal bend and bloodbend (even aang) its either you're given the potential or you're not. It ain't like Harry Potter wizardry, not everyone can do everything.

Domi

I'm glad Lup-san sympathies with Katara and sees how fucked up bloodbending really is. I've seen some people compare it to rape cause' it's literally a forceful intrusion on someone else's body. OP af, but still fucked up when you think about it.

Anthony
>>37335123

I wouldn’t call combustion bending “dark” It’s just intense but there’s nothing sinister about it

Anthony

I’m so ready for y’all to start watching Korra. There’s some things I hate about it but it’s still a great series 👌

Jake Disarufino

Blood bending is super rare in water benders and the ones that can do it can only do it on a full moon it’s OP as all fuck but it has the proper drawbacks so it doesn’t break the show

Anthony
>>37335516

It’s more rare that lightening bending, metal bending, the only bending that’s more rare is probably lava bending

Mo

Nah I agree that it's fucked up. Yeah it's a war, but that's not who Katara is.

TheToweringOtakunt

Anyone else notice Gran Gran? She's the woman who was tearing up when Hama was being led away. Also, the ship Hama and her friends captured is the one from the first episode of the series where Aang and Katara tripped the booby traps. #EasterEggs

Coco

Think about this, if Water benders can bend the blood in someone's body, then there's the possibility of Air Benders bending the air out of your lungs.

MrNoor114

yes i can't wait for ep 9. The funniest shit ever.

Rcl
>>37335123

Fire bending can be used for things other than violence Combustion man is using something that;s only deadly.

Varun Narayanswamy

LOLOL can we just talk about how they're doing groceries and clearly vocalizing that Aang is the avatar in the middle of a fire nation market place. That's subtly at it's finest

L

It isn't guaranteed that Katara could win with blood bending against the fire lord. Even with something as OP as that it still pales in comparison to the avatar state.

godUsoland

One of my favorite eps of Season 3. Waterbending is so OP. Water, Ice, Plants, Blood, Sweat, steam? Earth really only has rocks, sand, and because of Toph, metal.

Varun Narayanswamy

Also i'd recommend for next week to watch 3 episodes not 2. It's better than way.

Jake Disarufino
>>37336170

Yeah exactly the avatar state can pretty much break anything and it can be used all the time as opposed to blood bending that can only be used once a month for 12ish hours a day. The avatar state is essentially implied to be invincible based on the spirit of the user which is why aang as a monk is so powerful comparatively to the previous or next avatar his only weakness is his pacifism which makes it hard for him to enter the state but once he does even before he masters it he’s basically unstoppable... also just a side note base aang is ridiculously powerful he’s a master at the age of twelve of the most broken bending type, shown by his arrows, the only reason the air nomads weren’t the strongest nation is because of there beliefs as monks an an air bender without those restraints, no spoilers, is fucking ridiculous

Mr. Toastman
>>37334011

ahhh, thank you. I was thinking of an appropriate analogy to invoke the emotion I feel when seeing bloodbending.

Rubix

I think the point the show is trying to make, as a series that is a lot about philosophy, is that bloodbending is sort of unethical and inhumane. At least to Katara since it goes against everything that she believes in. Sort of like 'justice without mercy is cruel and unforgiving'. In real world, I guess it would be the equivalent of torture experiments, 'drawn and quartered' and tear gas chambers.

Anthony

Are you guys going to react to three episodes at once because there’s a 2 parter?

DogBless

So glad you're excited for Korra. That show is the shit. Fuck the haters

Andrew Rojas
>>37334011

Bro, couldn’t put it any better. This is exactly why it makes me uncomfortable, regardless of its usefulness.

Shado
>>37334805

I mean, I didn't expect it to be better than avatar. But, I do think that they did a good job on lifting restrictions to give it more freedom on how much they could do with the story and characters which made it interesting for me. Dragon prince is great as well!

Blackfeet808

I y’all just gon switch hair styles huh lol

Andrew Rojas
>>37336919

Tbh tho you right. Like If we got LoK by itself with out ATLA it would hold up as a pretty good show. Its only once you compare it that it looks so much worse. Plus Nickelodeon was on their dumbshit with the season scheduling and censorship so I tend to give it a pass since im sure it would have been better on its own. Also if they had all three og creators instead of just two 🤷🏻‍♂️. All in all Korra is a good ass show and a must watch if you really like avatar.

HesOneShot

Hype that y’all going to react to Korra! And also Please don’t pay no mind to these small brain individuals who’s stuck on nostalgia of “The Last Airbender” and can’t comprehend that Korra and Aang aren’t not the same Avatar.. Not trying to say Korra is the best show, both shows are great both have their “flaws” it just the Korra series gets a lot of unnecessary hate imo when the series writers had an uphill battle with Nickelodeon not backing the show like they did The Last Airbender.

HesOneShot

I hope the next upload is 3 episodes because ep 10&11 is a two-part episode

Demarquise Wimley

Korra got so crazy they had to stop showing it on tv😂😂

Craig Stanley

Just to be clear, water benders can only blood bend under a full moon. :)

Kingjasco

The move is kinda useless tho unless it’s a full moon. And how often are they attacked on a full moon

Delinda Arts

If you all thought blood bending was crazy in TLAB, y’all will definitely enjoy The Legend of Korra

Narutofreak94

Blood bending has always been so disturbing to be. Like it's such a tainted bending style. One of the beautifully dark details in the series.

Lester

I’m so excited for y’all to reach LOK and to see the evolution of bending. If you think blood bending is dark, wait ‘til you reach book 3 of LOK lol.

Life Of Hunter

Yesssss!!! I cant wait for The Legend of Korra Reactions

Oax Al

Yeah blood bending is such a violation of another person that no morally just bender would want to use it. Yeah it's just a tool and it's only bad if you use it for bad, but it's still shady.

Hoodlum JoeBro
>>37336377

I mean, technical there’s one other as well but I agree. Water is definitely op, just learn bloodbending and your good lol

Hoodlum JoeBro
>>37335511

Same. There’s a lot to love and hate. There’s more to love though, so luckily lol

Viela Guay

Lmao Sheera in this episode confirmed to be the one to commit warcrimes

Viela Guay
>>37333865

I mean that's how they more often than not killed in desperate situations. How else do you think gyatso had an small battallion of fire nation solider corpses so close to his

Nicole

Looking forward to the next few episodes 🤩

godUsoland
>>37336377

Korra spoilers. I wonder, would Earth have bonebending? Or bloodbending too? Bend the iron in the blood.

Yuion
>>37337410

But knowing the uphill battle took place doesnt make the show better, Korra is definitely not terrible, like many people want to make it seem but it just cant compete with the original avatar. If I look at Korra individually, without aang in mind, its probably still mid to high tier

Abraham
>>37340658

It’s not a violation if you’re the one being oppressed

KingBD
>>37331913

Yea few weeks ago he first announced it i think in a hxh vid that he put them back in

XerBlade
>>37337714

Things like that and all the other BS retcons that make no sense are why I consider Korra a separate canon.

sierra's reaction corner

nah i've seen bloodbending compared to rape, like its the ultimate power move, but it's super fucked up and invasive. OP af but all the way fucked up. Idk if any of ya'll know harry potter but its like the imperius curse, taking away full control. Makes my skin scrawl smh i love that Katara had to learn it anyway though and you could see how devastated she was by that.

Lurkingposter
>>37337554

They stopped showing it on TV because Nickelodeon had no idea what to do with the show. LoK suffered because of network mismanagement and losing Avatar's head writer, Aaron Ehasz.

BubbleTea

Interesting...usually i have the same opinion as Roshi or Sheera, but not this episode. Yeah bloodbending would be useful since it's war, but just thinking about Katara's morals and everything she stood for (ie: helping people), it's no wonder Katara would have a hard time accepting her use of bloodbending. Hama developed blood bending with the idea of revenge against the fire nation. I don't wanna spoil or even hint at anything but let's just say I'm excited for future reactions.

Player456

Can't believe it's almost over. I loved this episode SO much!! I can't wait for y'all to react to Legend of Korra, I feel like overall you're gonna love it. I'd suggest you guys read the comics that were released after The Last Airbender before starting Korra though (especially 'The Promise') it would definitely help fill in some gaps between the two series and give some background info :) The others can be read whenever but they're nice follow ups to ATLA.

Dauud said

when is thre next one dropping?

SoreDakeNoKoto

Dope reactions. The whole dilemma of "to bend or not to bend" is really all due to the fact that this is still a kid's show, very strong on morals and not very pragmatic. Cos you're right that Ozai (like every other non-water-bender) has no protection at all against this technique if he faced it head-on. I don't remember if Katara actually needs the moon to bloodbend but I suspect she doesn't given how much more powerful she is than the old woman. Also, bloodbending itself doesn't hurt the victim as we've seen despite people comparing to torture and shit. But it is pretty invasive but no more invasive than any other manipulative ability like Shalnark's Black Voice or Illumi's Needles, both of which are probably fatal as well.

Mmbop

Am i the only one confused about his hair or naw?

jaquelynne wacholtz
>>37334805

I tried to love korra but I can’t get passed the retconning of lore and korra as a character Was insufferable.

Akira
>>37374865

Fax if this was a darker show she would have more free reign to use it. And yeah she needs the full moon not like the brothers from Korra (trying not to spoil)

Alex cleveland

When I was a kid I legit was scared of watching this ep. Still kinda gives me thos creepy vibes. Am I the only one??🤣😅

KM

I love how Hama and Jet both show us how guerilla warriors fighting oppressive regimes can turn into terrorists attacking innocent civilians because they're looking for revenge.

Pedro

I feel like so many people care too much for a character's combat abilities, and think they should act the most efficient way possible all the time. I appreciate Lupa's take on this episode, it should remind everyone that characters are supposed to have feelings, flaws, perspectives...

Pedro
>>37386230

Katara doesn't want the burden of being a Blood bender, but she still did it to saver her friends. I think the show does a good job of showing Katara's perspective, it's not a dope ability to her and it's inconsiderate to her feelings to expect her to use it.

SaviorOfNirn
>>37337410

no one is asking it to compete! just let the damn show exist and stop comparing them constantly.

SaviorOfNirn
>>37374865

it would be irrelevant if the show was darker, bloodbending goes against everything katara believes in

Nicholas Cheatham

I hate having to scroll for minutes just to find the earlier eps of this show cause I waited until you were nearly done so I wouldnt have to wait but little did I know I'd have to constantly scroll between every ep cause patreon resets you to the top of the screen after everything you click on

Bona Fide

My fav episode whew

Corey Leach

can't wait for yall to react to LoK. It's really not bad like most of these niggas say it is.

kurumi Tokisaki

This has always been my favorite episode. Blood bending! this is when i found out that water bending was the most powerful bending art based on its many uses. Im still hype off that fight...

John FD Lobrano
>>37391019

Well....season 2 is definitely the worst. The rest of the series is pretty good despite that massive hiccup.

Jordan Tidwell

Lupa was spitting straight facts this whole entire episode chief. There's a reason for human right violations within war.

Killjoy

Can't wait for ya'll to watch korra, they really do take it to another level.

Tiffany

Just want to point out that the show implies that blood bending can only be done when a water bender is at their strongest, Which is when it’s a full moon. Also Lupa does have a point. The point isn’t about just using an OP bending move, it’s the morality behind it. Yes you can justify using it for obvious evil like the fire lord but the mentality behind someone using a skill that takes away that persons will is definitely going to have an affect on a good natured person like katara. Only in true desperation or loss of morality would someone like katara choose to use a skill like that. Plus that’s just lazy writing to give a character super op powers and not have any form of moral confliction or character development...

SoreDakeNoKoto
>>37374865

Err, not so much against what she believes in, as it's against what's expected in a show like this. Bloodbending is deemed unsavoury here, for the same reason we don't see water bending cutting people to pieces, despite the fact that we know it can do this. Or people actually getting burned by fire-bending except when it fits the story's purposes.

Varun Narayanswamy

What I always wondered about is the end when the fire nation people say "You're going to be locked away for good". How? Can't she just blood bend them into freeing her again? Hell, literally like 20 minutes after they get away from Katara can't she blood bend the guys holding her?

Rcl
>>37434568

I imagine off screen they did what earth benders were going to to Iroh. Cut off limbs so you cant bend.

Anthony

I’ve always wondered why Hama never released her fellow waterbenders...

Cls
>>37333029

Did he time skip 3 years or is he on some Fetty wap shit?

Jaime Ruiz

Dang they're stupid. Not you guys, but the avatar gang. I get that they want killing to be bad, and blah blah. but it's a war. Yeah, maybe those specific fire nation people were good people but eh. She should've attacked soldiers then or something. Also don't watch the sequel series pls. It's fucking trash.

LK
>>37434568

Yee she probably busted out the same night

Nique

I get both sides but Hama took it to the next level by using it on innocent people. It's one thing to use it to escape but to just use it against everyone because of what you endured is where it becomes a problem. Similar to Jet, he rightfully so feared the Fire Nation but he let that fear guide him into not caring about the lives of innocent people and risking the lives of innocent people. When you drop down to that level then you're really no better than your enemy. Plus Katara is Katara y'know? It makes sense that she would dislike it. I think the show did a good job on highlighting that yes we're in war but how much of our humanity and morals should we be okay with compromising and that just because people are from the enemy country or nation doesn't mean they agree with their country's actions or that they're bad people.

Even though Korra isn't as good, I liked certain parts of it better than a lot of good episodes in avatar. Mainly for explaining lore and everything, they would really enjoy it.

The point wasn't to show that killing is bad. The point was to show that even people who have been victimized and have sympathetic motivations can let their hate blind them and become villains.

NowHoldOnaMinute

Yaboi roshi is kinda dumb when it comes to this. I guess that's what happens when you see everything as a dragonball powerup.

Christina

Anybody notice that the ship they took out was the ship from the booby trap in the first or second episode. And the girl that was watching Hama get taken away was Kana (Gran Gran)

that goes against Katara's whole character for her to blood bend this show is more so about developing characters then anything even irl we have restrictions when it comes to war like the use of mustard gas. The whole point of the show itself is about finding a better self and making peace instead of killing shit and not learning anything at all, also Korra is okay came out around a weird time and there were some questionable decisions, l would let them form their own opinion on it it has good moments throughout the series but not as good as ATLA

No, it's pretty realistic if you ask me. Bloodbending is akin to r*pe if you think about it, you force your own will over someone when you do that as well. That's why Katara was vehemently against it, which makes sense.

In theory, but perhaps she needs the light of the full moon to be able to do it? Meaning if they kept her underground or something she wouldn't be able to.

Umbra_Nex

I dunno if the group paid attention to the fact that Hamma said it could only be used on a full moon, so its not really good for "emergencies" unless that happens to be on a full moon xD loving the reactions though

rayman

yall not bein sensitive to how invasive blood bending is. Yall thinking way too strategic and black and white about it. Katara is not the kind of person that wants to even know how to blood bend, it's so against her personality of helping people. Blood bending is the most invasive and vile type of bending out of all the elements. Katara is not the kind of person to want to deal with that. She was forced to do it to save her friends which messed her up because now she knows how to do it. It's a slippery slope knowing how to control someone's blood like that.

Oui Oui

Hama wasn't Katara and Sokka's mom's friend. She's way too old to be

Staus

On the topic of fucked up bending, imagine if Aang bended air into peoples lungs and making them explode, that would be messed up

Alexa

This was one of my favorite episodes, it definitely fucked with me as a kid. I loved experiencing it again with you guys!

Jada Merritt

It's widely theorized that Hama is actually the reason that the Fire Nation started straight up murdering waterbenders during their raids. She brought an even worse fate on her own people because of her actions.

DADEFUYE

and pumped air into their blood cells making it explode on a molecular level.😲

You’re toxic as fuck. All that work put into Korra and you want to act like a bitch. Stfu pussy

The Truth
>>39319560

Stfu pussy. You would rather get killed than use blood bending fuckboy

The Truth
>>40244512

You can’t do that🤣🤣 wtf. People can close their air ways into their lungs idiot. Zaheer created a bubble not allowing the queen to breath retard

Gabby

Gosh the theories that keep coming from this show over a decade later. I love the worldbuilding.

Tea-Spin
>>40836149

That's actually make sense. That's why when they raid southern water tribe when katara and sokka was kid, the leader said "I'm not taking prisoner today", meaning they kill them on the spot.

Jeff

Love y’all, but Bloodbending is super fucked up. Y’all even proved that when (either Roshi or Sheera) said it’s a tool to be used on emergencies. Y’all are ignoring the fact that Hama used it in an emergency, but grew to abuse it. She would kill trees and flowers, and kidnap

damn youre not even subbed to roshi anymore but from seeing all your comments, you're a trash ass person.

Lily Rose
>>40836149

how can you blame her for bringing an "even worser fate" onto her people for blood blending guards to get out of imprisonment instead of fire nation for capturing her in the first place

rickie woodson

best episode of the best season! i dont care what no one says #hamawasright. get them evil bastards! down with the fire nation!

what I just realized is the reason why they were killing water benders is cause they killed all air nomads they must have thought they also killed the airbender who would have been the next avatar. so they killed all waterbenders they could to avoid the cycle. lucky aang was freed before sozin's second pass otherwise the firelord would have used it to wipe out the earth nation and the north pole to make sure there was no more avatar that could stop him.

Koria Hayes

Omg.....they were looking for the Avatar..... Just over sixty years ago huh? The war has been going on for a hundred years. Say they were waiting the sixteen years in between to see if there would be a reveal. Sixteen years after the 100 year countdown for simplicity's sake (for the Air Nomad avatar to show themselves) puts us at 84. They probably figured if they didn't show up by then, they weren't going to. Sixteen years after that puts us at 68. She said the raids started a little over sixty years ago. Guess, when it came to it came back around to the fire one, they were hoping the propaganda would keep them docile but since one didn't show up, they just figured the Avatar died with the Air Nomads since no water Avatar was coming out of the Northern Water Tribe to stop them from taking waterbenders from their sister tribe. Then the Earth Kingdom had to fall. But then they heard about Katara. Only waterbender left in the whole South Pole. Poor Mom. Also....say it took a few years for the Fire Nation to launch their attack on the Air Nomads and Aang had stayed to end up dying with the rest of them.....Would Hama have been the Avatar instead? O.O Seems to go for a person who already has pretty powerful bending and good affinity for elements already. Think about the kind of Avatars we've had. It's not just being the Avatar that makes them capable of learning the other elements so well and quickly. They usually even invent new thngs. Roku with the glider trick and Aang with the Scooter one, for examples. A lot of people point to Katara having been the next Avatar, but if he hadn't run away when he did, he could have ended up dead just as Hama would have been born.

Rin B

Seeing how the fire nation chained up the water benders is just sick. The fire nation is despicable.
