I don' t think you'll have an end credits scene until the mid 20's. I think 26 or 28. After that though, it becomes more common

I think Ed and Al would try it anyway if they knew. Mustang knew and he was even holding himself back from the temptation of using it. It's one of those things of "It failed for this person but it COULD work for me" type of thing. Hoping that past failures of others would lead to success for you. Ed mentioned it before I believe in episode 2, Alchemists usually don't believe in god but at times begin to think they have the power of god.
