About your Reinhard comment at the start: I think it definitely makes a difference in terms of the portrayal of his character and attitude. If he had CHOSEN not to draw his sword against Elsa, simply because HE himself deems her as unworthy, then that would definitely shine an arrogant/cocky light on his character. Which would completely contradict the nice + humble personality that he had displayed up to that point. But the fact that it was the sword itself that doesn't allow itself to be drawn and it's not Reinhard's choice; that changes the situation from a voluntary flex to an involuntary flex. This preserves Reinhard's nice/humble guy image. Consistent character writing 👍

TBF, this show is also a Mystery Hydra, solve 1 mystery and 2 more takes its place. There is a ton of important information that is given in brief and seemingly unimportant dialogue that either set-up future mysteries or solves past mysteries. But there is also a lot of dialogue that doesn't contribute to the mystery-solving (focusing on characterization, lore, and world-building) so it's unfair to ask them to constantly pay attention but to not think too hard about the not important stuff they don't know is not important in context.

In their defense, it's hard to know what's important enough for analysis and what's not important on the first watch. Anime watchers have had 4 years to dissect everything frame by frame and novel readers have had 8 years to analyze everything page by page.

Maybe it's a troupe by now, but I notice that overpowered characters can be seen as unlikable if they don't have some odd character quirk about them. Reinhard clearly is broken (power level wise), but like Arthur's blissful ignorance in his imagination via Fire Force, nice, well-meaning swordsman makes him appealing; to your point. Almost wish he was the MC...almost.

lmao guys, the show literally explained straight out what killed subaru @ 11:15, they weren't trying to mislead you. Ram also drank the tea with Subaru. i think you guys missed it and ended up sticking to your tea theory, which is understandable.
