Season 2 despair gang !

Danny

i dont know if this is 100% right but i hear that in the LN or WN Subaru actually tried killing himself multiple times and one of the times was using that knife near the apple table. And also, the "who is rem" part is actually added in a director's cut version of hte first season that came b4 the s2

User100

Sheera can't miss I swear lol

Viela Guay

I do love how they do Subaru's "Tired eyes"

godUsoland

The Author: Oh, did you enjoy the happy ending of S1? Looks like it's time to sprinkle on some more despair. Fun Fact - The Author is a butcher by trade. It explains some things

Haaa?

Now im in uncharted territory. I havent seen season 2 yet and im looking forward to it.

Justin_IVIX

That point you mentioned is exactly where the director's cut ends, but since season 2 wasn't certain back when season 1 was being made it would have been too cruel to end there, even by rezero cliffhanger standards. Just let the man hold that temp W for a few years.

Venom9518

I haven't watched it yet

Thamor

Boys aren't ready for this wild ride. If they feel sad now...

Jev Cor

Finally Rem is asleep.

JsnSkg

Orrrr, you can not watch the OVA's. I mean, that's cool.... S2 picks up right where S1 left off, so not a biggie. Would've been nice to see that reaction though.

L.C.

You guys missed a couple things in this episode.... You didn't even take notice of what puck said but I guess you will figure that out in future episodes.

DevilMayCarter

A question: does Crusch retain her "Wind of Truth" ability? Asking because when she forced Felis to apologize, she said Subaru made a correct statement.

L.C.

THE DIRECTORS CUT DID END WITH EMILIA SAYING WHO IS REM!!!! YOU DIDN'T WATCH THE DIRECTOR CUT!!

If we consider Return by Death to actually be the Authority of Pride, then the whole series starts making a lot more sense. I mean, think about the prideful arrogance involved in re-writing history to suit your whims. Subaru may be mostly screwing over evil bastards, but if he had a mind to, he could just as easily frustrate the ambitions of just about anyone else just by offing himself and re-doing things. So far, everything that has transpired has concluded in the way which best allows him to save face and seem the hero. Even this situation with Gluttony is the best of all conclusions possible. He was able to see to the White Whale's destruction, he killed Sloth, saved all the villagers, killed all of Sloth's cultists, and even the new casualties are of a sort which has some hope of remedy. And his inability to tell people he has this power even tracks with this. Think about it. If you were the personification of Pride whose power allowed you to change history to get the best of all possible outcomes, would you allow anyone to know you had failed numerous times, or would you take pride in the fact that everyone believes you're just that good? It's also interesting that his power tracks with the traditional conception of the Seven Deadly Sins where Pride is the first and chiefest of the sins from which all others derive. This would explain his apparent ability to resist the authorities of lesser sins AND his unusually intimate connection with the source, the Witch. Pride would accept nothing less than a position of exaltation under such circumstances, after all. And Satella's rejection of Sloth when he invades Subaru's soul is proof of her favoritism. And if they're using the mytho-historical account of the Seven Deadly Sins which is most common, then the order in which they're dealing with the sin archbishops also tracks. Sloth, Greed, Gluttony, and Lust (not necessarily in that order) are considered a lower order of sin than Envy, Wrath, or Pride. You'll often see them ranked in order of importance as Pride (Top Tier), Wrath and Envy (Middle Tier), and Lust, Greed, Gluttony, and Sloth (Bottom Tier).

Devin B

Satella was the witch of Envy so wouldn't Return by Death be considered the Authority of Envy since he got it from her? Everything else you say about him being hinted as Pride sounds spot on though.

Lucas_ESG

In Season 1, remember when Ram received the BLANK letter which pretty much meant disloyalty, the reason the letter was blank was because Rem was the one who wrote the letter. When Gluttony eats someone’s name every record of history made by that person gets erased so no one can feel like something is off.

JsnSkg

The knife is just for the appas, bruh. XD

R3APER

Wind of truth is only for telling if someone is lying or not. Has nothing to do with people stating their opinions in a debate

Oui Oui

Subaru didn't lead Rem on. What are y'all smoking?

Oui Oui

Also Rem had her name eaten because she got tricked into saying her name

TyyT

YEEEEEEH Yall already on it! Love to see it! Already gettin a rewatch wit yall 😁

Baren Nerab

I hope this time their just going in on two episodes this season or they might catch up

kurumi Tokisaki

Wow, im mad nobody wrote this yet.....You guys missed the "1 second future memory scene with rem and subaru", right when gluttony finished his attack!!! Rem lost everything, her name, memories, past, present and future. Its hard to catch but there is a slowed down version on youtube.

JayPack

The blade was so emphasized because i believe he had killed himself over and over and over to try and desperately see if the reset point would change but it never did . Pretty sure i heard that had happened in the webtoon.

Jerry89

They did acknowledge what puck said but it won't make sense til later in the season

haywood banks

So in one version of season 1's ending it does end on Emilia saying "who's Rem" and trust me the wait was killer

Oscar Barcelo

For those of you wondering about the REMS future with Subaru scene is at 11:57, it happens really fast but there is a picture in there with rem and Subaru if they had gotten together.

Dimitri Zackaev

Yup. That's exactly it. He would reset, pick up the knife and stab, slit, impale his throat over and over and over. The scene with him crying was when Emilia helped him try to push forward

Eric Armando Miranda

right before gluttony eats rems existence if you keep pausing the video you'll catch like 3 images of rem and subaru from a different timeline which is if when subaru asked rem to runaway with him to a different country rem actually says yes and they runaway and the images are of rem and subaru with their 2 kids this timeline is from a if chapter the author did the author did like 6 different if chapters of each time if subaru chose a different route at crucial points you should check them out its mad interesting

CRuEL_WOrlD

-Rem has left the chat NO NO NO NO NO!

TUSF

The focus on the blade is probably a reference to the novel. In the novel, Subaru kills himself in Rem's bedroom with a knife laying around. The anime changed this to him killing himself with a random broken sword as soon as he finds Rem's sleeping body. I guess the anime wanted to let you know that Subaru has really been considering suicide a lot.

Thomas Wong

But why in this timeline Crusch has 2 arms

Alex Campbell

Also they did end season 1 on the “who is rem line”

Wild

The thing about the archbishop of gluttony is that you can’t tell him your name cause all he has to do is touch you and lick his palm and he’ll steal whatever u have if you give him your name or he knows your name is basically giving him the authority to steal everything from you on crush’s case idk very well but I’m pretty sure gluttony didn’t know her name so he was only able to eat her memories
