The reason Lelouch didn't Geass Shirley immediately is because she's someone he cares about. It's still kind of messed up to force someone's mind under your control so it's a little different for Lelouch to do it to someone he's close to than strangers. He still has a conscience for those around him.

Y’all are hating on Shirley for no reason. Of course she isn’t thinking clearly, her father just died, she just found out one of her best friends and crush is the leader of the "terrorist" organization that led to the death of her father, and she’s being completely manipulated by a dude with supernatural powers. Of course she’s in distress and isn’t thinking straight, that’s the whole point. Sometimes y’all need to just put yourself in the shoes of others...

well its not that relevant to a chess aside the fact that lelouch is the "king" aka commander. The black knights are still very new organization and its already a blessing that Kyoto sent them the Guren so they arent exactly swimming in good knightmares. Besides, Lelouch excels at giving orders and strategizing, the Guren is best suited for someone whos good at close combat.

I really hate characters like shirley. The ones who find out someone they know did something horrible to the point where they shouldn't forgive and yet they do some dumb stuff to protect them. Like I get she like's lelouch and he's the only one that provided her real comfort but still. You find out zero killed your dad and that zero is the guy you like and you just help him? Nah fuck that lol

Things it's easy to miss although the information has already been presented before, just briefly or in offhand ways: 1. The student council president is Lelouch and Nunnally's cousin on their mother's side (that one mostly came up in Lelouch's flashback to confronting his father when the peanut gallery talked about her family losing status because Lelouch's mother, originally a commoner, was the reason they were important... but she's also very briefly brought it up offhandedly herself once before now, and Lelouch briefly mentioned how her family was keeping them hidden at the school). That's why she reacted with the exact same shock as Suzaku when Nunnally said she wanted to meet Euphemia (although y'all seemed to miss that moment in this episode entirely). -They both know their true identities.- I bring this up now since it's going to come up in a more obvious way very soon, and it will be a pretty confusing moment if you don't already understand that. 2. It was extremely dark (in the old pre-HD days when this was first broadcast, it was nearly impossible to see), but in Nina's table scene, she was literally masturbating to a picture of Euphemia. 3. Mao was not reading C.C.'s mind there. He had audio clips of her voice running on repeat in his headphones. It would've been much more obvious had the director just, like, zoomed closer in on the headphones... 4. Lelouch didn't specifically Geass Shirley to forget him. He Geassed her to forget everything that was painful to her. Hence her suddenly not being extremely grief-stricken over her father's death while standing in front of the memorial. It just so happened that at the time his entire existence was causing her pain. And something that is not "easy to miss" but is definitely happening in... the opposite of missing it way here: Lelouch does not know Suzaku is the pilot of Lancelot! That is not public knowledge, and at no point did Suzaku or anyone else inform him of it.

One correction, Milly Ashford (the student council president) is not the cousin of lelouche/Nunnally nor is any way related to their mother, the only connection they have is the ashford family being huge supporters of Marianne which is why when she fell, the ashford family were also degraded from nobility.

True, I feel like a lot of reactors don't have much empathy so they can't seem to see things from the characters perspectives. It's like blaming a character for not knowing some piece of information that was told to the viewer but not the characters in the story as them being stupid.

One other thing I noticed that I didn't think would be a plot point was a few episodes with the cat. When they were saying the reward was a kiss with someone, Nina was saying she hoped it could be with the president. Someone else said "hey, now is not the time for you to come out" or similar. I didn't expect that to really get expanded on.

@andre Okay, for one thing, NINA IS NOT MILLY. They are separate characters. For another thing, Euphemia is Lelouch and Nunnally's half-sister on their father's side, not mother's. Someone related to them on their mother's side would have actually had absolutely no relation to her. @Zach Purvis And THAT wasn't Nina. That was a random nameless extra who looked nothing like Nina. I swear, peanut galleries everywhere you go...
