From Suzaku's point of view, Lelouch ordered Euphy to commit genocide—which caused the death of thousands of Japanese civilians—and then killed her once her purpose had been served. He understandably feels justified for selling him out to the Emperor.

ZA WARUDO

Yep, I just started R2 with my best friend. She and I both agree that if we did that to each other, killing the man either of us love, we would absolutely want something good in return for selling each other out. I feel for Suzaku and seeing him so cold now compared to his bright, smiling although suicidal self in Season 1 breaks my heart. Of course, I still love Lelouch though.

Gabby Boakye-yiadom

Sheera at this point in the story Lelouch and no one else knows who was responsible for his mother's death. He hates his father for not protecting her and abandoning him and Nunnally to be used as political pawns not for killing her.

JsnSkg

Lelouch out here being an S-tier Among Us Imposter.... getting them alibis. Lelouch: "What do you mean? I was cooking with the Student Council." Milly: "Can confirm, he was cooking his ass off with us."

iffybluecutiee

Stop... Before Euphy, Suzaku was still ass. He still is a delusional ass. He says he's gonna change things from the inside, yet he's made not one step. He's still somebody's lil bitch/pet from the time he got his Lancelot, all the way to now. Atleast Lelouch has made somewhat progress. Even though some Japanese will die on the way to the United States of Japan goal, that's all Suzaku has being doing... Killing members of the Order of the Black Knights in his fucking power rangers Gundam. Euphy's dead, but at least she made a step, even though it failed because of Lelouch.

clement

syncronize "yeahh" the best!

Gabby Boakye-yiadom

Ironically enough Suzaku was offcially making progress with the Japanese when Euphy made that first step at the same time and congruently lost it all in her death. Suzaku's not delusional he's not blind to what the Britannians are doing. Besides the sucidal atonement wish fulfillment. His trauma with killing his father only made him believe further acts violence against a system that had all but 99% won was not worth the lives of the Japanese people required to get back a land that was all but gone. He's not wrong for wanting to try a different path by change from within. He was foolish for trying to gain that when he was literally the only one trying that path at all. He needed authority and power which was at first a possibility with Euphy but now has it as a Knight of Round with only the Emperor who could order him as Schniezal says this episode.

Kurumi

hated Rolo as a character but his geass was my fav

XerBlade

To be honest, I found his Geass to be extremely uncreative, but at least it was pretty well-thought-out. But seriously though... Rolo is quite possibly my least favorite character in this whole series.

Dune

Za Warudo! Tokio tomare!

Cleven Anthony

I see at least one defense of suzaku post per video for awhile now. But non your points changes the fact that he’s been annoying before euphy n definitely is that way more so now

eve

he already told shirley that he will gonna trick their friends .. she was standing there just to pretend that lelouch was still there changing clothes ... and she was thinking they trying to trick their friends doesn't know that he was trying to trick the whole secret organisation and the whole police in the area lol

XerBlade

Pro Tip: Never assume Lelouch didn't anticipate some possibility. He's not like Light who gloats over his victories before the end just due to his own ego like your typical anime villain. When he's facing an opponent, he never does anything without reason. Even his speeches are 5D chess moves. Like the recording he gave to C.C. at the end of the previous episode.

XerBlade

BTW, since it wasn't clear from the reaction whether y'all were clear on it by the end: As everyone involved understands it, the reason they kept Lelouch alive was to use him as bait to capture C.C. Basically, she's considered a far more important target than him by the emperor. They repeated as much several times throughout the first episode and this one.

L.C.

You guys should react to MHA season 5 trailer 2 that literally just came out. The animation looks insane and it is just for the first arc of the season.

Amer Noor

this is the definition of " do the ends justify the means" because lelouch killed so many innocent people trying to reach his goal. For example when he caused a mud slide that killed bystanders like sherleys dad. Suzaku on the other hand doesn't want salvation at the cost of millions. he's also making amazing progress, I mean in less than a year he went from honorary Britannian to serving the emperor directly so saving japan doesn't seem so far off.

Cheezcaek

You're forgetting that he only got that far at all because of Lelouch. First the Lancelot, then a Knight of the Round. There was no masterplan Suzaku was following here to get where he is, everything just fell into his lap.

Nana

You think just because a random knight rises up the ranks he’s going to have influence in a empire under the rule of tyrants and oppressors who actually take pride in oppressing other? That’s just pure naivety ngl

Kurumi

given the time frame this came out the ability wasn't super over used as it is now tho but yea him and Suzaku were some shit characters

Jmaine

Shirley's dad wasn't a bystander though, he was a solider, part of a military regime actively killing and oppressing the Japanese. Like make no mistake Britania is hella evil, their whole thing is that they've been waging war on different countries and forcefully colonizing them. So yeah the Japanese are rebelling and when you're part of a colonial empire, worse a member of their police force you don't get to claim "innocence". And sure his methods may be brutal but eh it's a war for survival and freedom so at the end of the day isn't it worth it?

Gabby Boakye-yiadom

Where'd you get he was a soldier that was never stated? He was a bystander who visited Narita for business as Shirley said. Lelouch miscalculated the impact of the rockslide. Anyone unlucky enough to still be in the city died. He only cared about it later because it was specifically Shirley's dad and unknowingly hurt her who he cared about.

Delip K Hurtault

He is still naive for believing he can change anything, when a countries national policy is to discriminate against literally everyone but them selves. Not to mention a country with an archaic aristocracy which will automatically mean he has no power no matter how high he reaches in military ranks. The only reason he makes any advances is because of Lelouch. Clovis would still be alive, Euphy would have never came to Area 11, and know one would even know he was piloting the Lancelot, because they were keeping it hush hush an eleven was piloting it to the public.

None None

A big thing you gotta understand is that the royal family doesn't really HATE the Japanese, since taking their country was largely just a military action. That's why the King doesn't have a problem with Suzaku rambling about wanting to change the system from the inside. If he gets a highly competent and loyal soldier at the cost of letting him represent the Japanese once he's a bit more experienced, then he's not going to say no. Hell, it would probably even help him out by needing to have fewer resources devoted to keeping the country under control if there's someone keeping the 11s content.

Umbra_Nex

That sounds an awful lot like "that person belongs to group X, so that person is the same as everyone else in group X"... or taking individuality completely out of context... that... is exactly how oppression starts. Just because someone is born into a society that is "evil" (by whatever standards you want to define it), doesnt mean that person believes or even supports those policies. You think everyone in Nazi Germany believed in what was happening? Do you think everyone in North Korea supports that regime? Did every citizen in every country that has ever had slavery (which is basically every single one) believe that slavery was good and proper? No. I understand why you feel the way you do about Britannia here, the show does a good job of showing the dark side and how ruthless they can be, but be careful about this "all X = them" mindset because it can really cause problems in real life. IE, you can use that justification to view literally anyone in this world as pure evil that has to be destroyed, no matter the cost. That leads to a pretty crappy world. Plus, in this specific case, I agree with Gabby's point... it was never stated that he was a soldier... in fact, from how she talked about him, I always thought the father was a businessman... and all the other people living there? There are definitely innocents involved... plus, EVEN IF you wanted to categorize all Britannians as evil and all the Japanese as good here... LELOUCH IS DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR A HUGE MASSACRE OF JAPANESE!! Even if he didnt mean to, the choices that he took led him to the point where he caused the "Euphy Massacre". If he hadnt been so immersed in his own path of destruction and just given in to Euphys desire to create a peaceful solution, there is a decent chance the massacre would never have happened (as he wouldnt have been making those statements after taking her into a private area and holding a gun to her). TL;DR Fear leads to anger; Anger leads to hate; Hate leads to suffering. Be careful about lumping everyone together and forgetting about individuality. Life is much more enjoyable when you look for the silver lining and try to construct, rather than destruct <3

11:52 Rolo is Reiner confirmed

Amer Noor

That’s the thing, it’s easy to say it’s all for the greater good when you don’t lose anything. Don’t get me wrong I think lelouch is right but, I can also see why suzaku hates him.

Amer Noor

It was never stated that Shirley's dad was a soldier. Lelouch dropped a land slide on an entire town, he's 100 percent guilty of killing hundreds civilians in that one landslide.

Runner Up

There can be analysis on his character and I don't think he's fully understood half the time because ppl hate him, but at the same time his character was poorly executed, so it makes sense that ppl hate him lol. For me overall he's pretty unlikeable.

Max Murillo

Honestly the show makes a big deal about he not /caring/ about the world at all. He's obsessed with his weird greek ruin in the sky.

Coran

These subs are way better thank you

CRuEL_WOrlD

Is it me or Suzaku is hella delusional🤔

KimKaiRen

You now ppl be invested when they're writing essays for comments

KimKaiRen

I'm curious who you guys think is the better protagonist so far: Lelouch or Light from Death Note

Zackary Keith Justice

OMG i legit just realized this, but lelouch is the 17th in line to the throne, and what is kallen's code name in the dub? "Q1," the 17th letter in the alphabet. There's only 16 pieces on a chess board, so what if they are references to a trump card or extra piece that spices everything up? I've seen this series several times but only just thought of it.

Inug0d

Dio Rolo.

Random Guy

i assumed Q1 referred to queen 1, since she is his most powerful piece, like the queen in chess. There is a 1, since other pieces have multiple piece e.g. pawn 1-8. rook 1-2, knight 1-2 etc
