Also Sheera hit the nail on the head with my main gripe about this show. If those people had been getting zombie blood in their mouth and eyes, they would absolutely have turned. It's not like the virus made the zombies grow venom sacks in their mouths or anything. So Sheera, for the sake of your sanity, just know that this zombie virus doesn't have any rules. At all. Well, maybe once or twice just for plot convenience, but then they immediately contradict themselves later. The writing on this show, while at sometimes it SHINES, other times it's really really poor. But yeah, the fact that this zombie virus doesn't have any actual rules like any other zombie media might throw your Sheeringan off a bit.

You do realise for some infections such as HIV that the chances of infection through infected blood to open wound are much higher than when swallowed etc. The chance of becoming infected when HIV-infected blood goes into an open wound is about 1/300, while for splashes of HIV-infected blood into the eye, nose, or mouth are about 1/1,000.

You do realize that that comparison is not applicable considering that this is a massively aggressive virus with a 100% infection rate, an incubation period so low that it is practically nonexistent, and proof that it is transmitted via fluid exchange considering the victims turn quickly after being bitten. Being bitten on ANY part of their body, and they turn roughly the same time. If i virus is so aggressive that even the tiniest bite gives you a 100% chance of being infected and turning into a zombie moments later regardless of where you are bit on your body, then you would ABSOLUTELY be infected with the same virus were it to hit the very permeable membrane of your eyes, nose, or mouth. Next time you wanna be the "well, actually" guy and start your comment off with something so fucking condescending as "You do realize", at least make sure you're right. But feel free to try and "well actually" me again next time you feel like being bent over the kitchen table.

You say the virus doesn’t have any rules, I am stating that there are real life examples of infections demonstrating that chance of infection through open wounds are much more higher than the chance of getting it when it goes into your eye and mouth etc and it has to pass the mucous membrane. Doesn’t matter if you want to bitch about “well it so aggressive when open wounds get infected fluid into them (bites in the show so far have all drawn blood, indicating that the zombie virus entered the bloodstream for infection to occur) so of course splashes of blood into eyes and mouth must also be the same”. If the show wants to make the rules of their zombie virus to be ‘When the saliva and or blood of an infected person makes contact with the open wound of a healthy person and hence entering their bloodstream, they will turn into a zombie, but tiny splashes of an infected persons blood into the eyes or mouth of a healthy person will have considerably lower chances of infection’ then that’s the rules of the zombie virus in the show, you can make a fuss about “really, REALLY? You get automatically turned 100% when saliva goes into an open wound but you get the zombies blood in your mouth and or eyes and you don’t turn 100%, this is bullshit” and I could agree with this sentiment to some degree but this is where my comparison IS APPLICABLE as it demonstrates LESS CHANCE OF A REAL INFECTION WHEN BLOOD GOES INTO MOUTH AND EYES. At most you can think that the zombie virus doesn’t make sense or is unbelievable, but it nowhere reaches contradicting itself. I don’t agree with “…this zombie virus doesn’t have any actual rules…” as the rule I stated above has not been contradicted so far in the show (haven’t seen any episode after 4 so maybe they contradict this later on). I can only remember one time blood going into the mouth and eyes of someone who remained healthy afterwards, and that was the bully after his first stabbing and you can only see DROPLETS in his mouth (on his teeth) and a couple in his left eye. Blood in the mouth of someone healthy is very believable to not cause infection as for comparison, unless you have a cut and or injury in your mouth or throat etc you have super low chances of getting HIV when swallowing an infected persons blood (HIV primarily needs an entry point to bloodstream). The most probable cause for concern is the eye, but even then there is the BRB and that’s where the lower chance of infection comes into play. I don’t think the few droplets we seen going into the bullies eye is enough to write the show off as “not having rules”. (if there other instances of blood going into someone’s eye, nose, or mouth up to episode 4 where it is very apparent it should have reached the persons bloodstream, I don’t remember them and you could mention them and I could eat my words). You did not “bend me over the kitchen table”, all you have shown is that you are a child who is unable to take the littlest amount of difference in opinion that you think disagreement is insulting and condescending.

As someone with a background and occupation in a science based role, there's too many variables for us to make any assumptions. Maybe this virus excels in being transferred through the blood stream. Maybe eating the blood doesn't work as the virus is destroyed by the stomach acids and broken down. MAYBE there's certain optimal conditions the virus needs in order to infect the host.
