People explained it last time. The demons can only hold one part of him at a time. It took his leg so it had to give his voice back. When he went back it was to get his leg again. Killing the demon only gave him one thing back, altogether.

Without spoiling the body restoration stuff is basically demons no specific ones each have a piece of him if he kills to get one back but a demon happens to take another then he gains another part back somewhere else in exchange for the part taken they can only have up to the agreed amount

Honedtly this is just a guess but mayb when the demons came to eat him they took whatever part they can get so some demons took more than others that demon had part of his leg and his voice ig or when he damages a body part that was previously obtained from other demon once he defeats it, his body parts get healed idk just a guess

How I see it is that the demons can keep a physical form as long as they have a part of Hyakkimaru. He defeated the monster but before the monster died it took another part of his body to stay alive. He had to kill it again to get what was taken.

The reason why Hyakkimaru can understand language is explained in the manga, but the show as of yet has gone a slightly different direction and not shown that "power" of his.

There are so many addicts who suffer from serious mental illnesses or chronic pain and use prescribed medication to try and get better.. If a doctor tells you to use something to get better and you've been struggling for however long with no relief then its easier said than done to "be smart" or whatever it is your solution is

There are two views on how the voice / leg thing worked. 1. it was a plot hole they didn't really think about since the manga this is based on had over 70 demons taking more minute body parts. 2. the demon can only hold 1 body part, so taking his leg traded him his voice, then killing it gave the leg back.
