The first season is "Magi Labyrinth of magic", the second season is "Magi Kingdom of magic" then there is a spin off show on one of the characters named Sinbad

If I'm correct; Magi is divided into 2 seasons, which are respectively named The Labyrinth of Mágic (S1) and The Kingdom of Magic (S2). There is also a side story regarding an important side character (Sinbad no Bouken). It's a fairly good adaptación of a great manga, the only thing that sucks is that The best arcs of the manga never got anímated and the violence was really toned down in the second season.

I personally read the manga after the anime so yeah, it sucks for those arcs but the anime itself has a decent ending for what was shown in the anime.

The phrase "going pear-shaped" is, what I thought, a super common phrase that means "the situation has become fucked."

Found some info on Reddit about the pear-shaped line at the end: The phrase is なぜも糸瓜もない (naze mo hechima mo nai) Which is a short/old form of 糸瓜の皮とも思わない (hechima no kawa mo omowanai) Which means something like "Nothing good will come of it / its useless / its pointless" It's an old Edo period saying I think. I never realized going pear-shaped was a British slang thing. It's something you'd say about a situation going wrong.

You guys should watch this show called in/spectre it about a guy who is basically immortal in a world where ghost, and vengeful spirits can truly take shape as well yokai and humans who live in adjacent worlds yet yokai travel between them freely

The backwards talking thing sheera was thinking of is most likely the stand Talking Head from JoJo's part 5 that was folding narancia with the shark stand called Crush (i think). Or at least that's the only other backwards talking thing from anime I've seen.
