what is he hiding?

Comments

Kevin Catambay

It’s not wrong to say that’s he’s bad though… what he’s doing IS still bad. It doesn’t matter if it’s worse somewhere else, bad is still bad. I understand what he went through and his intention but it’s still bad in the end- he definitely could figure out a better way of doing things but instead he’s been understandably blinded to seeing goi as mere animals. It does make for an interesting, deep and nuanced character and story but it’s not wrong to call him bad when it comes to his attitude and his policies against the goi.

muxakara!

i know im late but i agree. i think that if he would have found a way to be able to coincide with the goi and still reign supreme it would have been lit asf. it is nothing to teach a new generation of human beings how to love and be compassionate. after those losers died out it would've been easy to build a new where both levels of citizens could live together in harmony. i am sure that regular people would never shy away from living in a country that they know are protected by magicians. being able to rely on these people to protect you is not some far off ideology to have. they could have an army of potentially 200,000 yet all they have is 200,000 people who are just not being allowed to use their full potential because of the mistakes their ancestors made. not to mention they could also go and have some of these people conquer dungeons and increase their strength tenfold. this would be the truest and most just way to turn a failing country into a flourishing kingdom, but yes he let his rage and anger get the better of him and this was the outcome.

Lupa bruh less talk more paying attention Lmao

Kingwilson

I'm not agreeing with mogamett but I think it's funny that roshi is against this when he literally supports Eren and the rumbling when its kind of the same situation, not coming at you but its very interesting.

Devin B

And he also agreed with Dracula which was almost the same situation as this as well.

Quinn Balsam

sheragan was goin crazy this episode

Seraph_Dalgon_

This old man really had the clap back for every point they tried to make that's wild

Drake Rage

I am still near the beginning of the episode but y'all are not paying enough attention. Mogamett is saying that even the "goi" that he doesn't like are living better under his system than they would have under a typical "goi" King that would have been sending people off to die in wars and Bureaucratic corruption leading to deaths from lack of food/water/taxes, etc. The "goi" in District 5 have longer lifespans, all the food/wine they need, pay no taxes, no need to work etc. The only ones suffering more than they would have are the ones born with weak constitution/illness/disease etc. so they die earlier, but more people are living "better" than they would have under a "goi" King. People with disease dying earlier is the actual GREY area, where it isn't right to support something like that, but at the same time you can't deny that this system is giving MORE people better "lifestyles" than if they had a "goi" King ruling them. Mogamett's philosophy was one of my favorite parts of this arc because I kept going back and forth between whether he was Good or Bad. He is doing awful stuff, but at the same time his system is bringing a LOT more benefits than not, compared to a non-magician/goi King.

Devante Vickers

I dont think yall understsanding, he aint trying to deceive the magicians. He just says what he believes. Also if yall dont rock with him, probably shouldnt rock for Eren Yeager to lol.

Sheldon Lewis

I find it funny that Roshi and the gang would be against it despite living and benefitting from a very similar society. The opposite is socialism. Mogamett is enacting Capitalism.

Erica Collins

Same lol I don’t agree with Magomett either but at least his approach is more “peaceful” then what Eren & Dracula would do so I really want to know why he doesn’t agree with him bc like u said it’s very interesting that he doesn’t

Aziouss

But still to him, even the successful Goi are still animals. He will always mistrust them as he fundamentally thinks that all they want is power. It is basically one step away from Nazi Germany with the Jews.

Guns

I feel like the director about to go to the ends of the earth for titus. His love for magicians seems unconditional

Erica Collins

The only problem I have with Magomett’s plan is the type of people living underground. The kids born there don’t deserve that life. What he should’ve done is turned it into a prison where only criminals live down there. That would’ve been a 10/10 strategy & NOBODY would’ve been able to say anything lol but then of course the show wouldn’t be as good without the conflict so 😂 & Magomett was lowkey spitting facts in the beginning & although he was messed up for kicking tf outta that kid lmao I really like him as a character

Trent Ward

dude is emotional. He doesnt use logic and he goes off if he likes the person or not.

Jake Thompson

I get big time Magneto vibes from Magomett. He sincerely thinks magicians are a different species from regular humans and the only way for them to prosper is to take hold of their own agency.

Zion Williams

As fucked up as it is. Its deadass better then most of the world cus slavery is a huge industry in magi

Devin B

With what Mogamett has been through he honestly could've done a lot worse in regards to his treatment to the gois. He just treated them like the animals he saw them as and that's somewhat better than how regular slaves in Magi are being treated.

Ranginald Vagel

Yo I forgot how Mogamett had Speech 100. Woulda made a great leader if only they had therapy in Musta’sim

Corey Pearson

Okay, glad I wasn't the only one who thought this. Lol He was on one in this reaction.

Corey Pearson

I really do hope y'all see the comments which y'all usually do so I'm happy about that. Some are very insightful on what's happening. As many have said, Magomett isn't manipulating anyone. I think the biggest piece y'all were overlooking in this episode was the conversations revolving around the current issues for how magicians are treated. The kids were discussing how their families were effected or how they were treated as a tool/sacrifice for human wars and conflicts. Magomett desire is for magicians to not die young being used as major tools/sacrificial pieces for unnecessary conflict among the humans/kings. I'm not saying he is a bad guy or good guy, just wanted to point out why the magicians are more so understanding of his ideals because his system has proven to be more long lasting even for the humans in the 5th district while also building a country of acceptance for magicians to live long lives with freedom away from unnecessary conflict caused by the kings/humans. Just my take on it. Great reaction and much love to all of yall content.

Random Guy

If only criminals were there, there wouldn't be anywhere near the required number and they would have probably died instantly. the reason the people are still alive is because there is like 200k of them there so it drains less individually.

FreshxEli Tv

The way I look at it is like King Arthur & Merlin if Magicians were treated to that degree and standards in this world everything would be better but during his speech when Aladdin was relating to it their was a slight scene where everyone just keeps asking for Aladdin’s help constantly saying Aladdin Aladdin you can kinda tell the worlds desires or thrist for magicians let alone a magi 💀 you seen what Sinbad did mans instantly tried to tame our boy

Random Guy

After seeing this episode, I am still leaning toward supporting Mogamett for the ff reasons. 1. The underground situation is actually much better compared to before they were taken over by the magicians. 2. As Mogamett himself said, it's not like he actively oppresses the goi, and while he may see them as non-human, it's not like the big majority of the magicians there do either. Remember, Magnostadt isn't even that old yet, it is less than 30 years old, once leadership passes it will be better. 3. While they do get sucked out of their magoi, their lives are actually much better than most of the people outside. As Mogamett has mentioned, they do not encounter extreme heat, nor do they encounter harsh winters. They do not get involved in fights by those in power, nor do they get enslaved like Morgana was. They don't get sent to die in gladiator fights like reim. They do not get starved like the people in the dark continent. While they're living conditions are not the best, at the very least they are protected and they meet their daily needs and more. 4. Magicians are pretty much way more oppressed elsewhere. The underground people have a better life than them honestly. Seeing as how people in power often work magicians to the bone, 5. A lot of people are upset why Mogamett doesn't try to help children like Marga, but we are honestly not that much better. Everywhere in the world, there are a lot of children on the streets. In poverty, malnourished, and probably sick, but we don't go out of our way to adopt them, feed them or clean them up and treat them. In fact, the people underground in Magnostadt probably live better lives than them. 6. The wars between the nobles of mustasim wasn't really his fault either, the nobles were just greedy AF and the magicians just handed them the weapons. The nobles killed each other on their own, kinda proving Mogamett's point even more. The death of Dunya's family was the fault of the the greedy nobles of Mustasim. Her death was the fault of that masked guy from Al Thamen. I am not saying that Mogamett is a completely good guy, but most of the issues in magnostadt was pretty much the fault of the goi nobles of mustasim. The Rukh around him is not fake, he truly does love magicians, even magicians that are his enemy like Yamraiha or Scheherazade. It's just that he's been traumatized but all those stupid gois that he doesn't see them as humans anymore.

Random Guy

Also note, that even though Mogamett sees gois only as animals, he still treats them better than PETA treats animals, and that says a lot.

Rot

Y'all don't get it though, he's not 'brainwashing', he is being brutally honest about their circumstances, he's also honest about Yam dying young if she uses so much magoi on that barrier, if it takes Magnostadt so many people & seasoned magicians to protect their Academy, how would one who isn't even at Mogamett's level be able to constantly, 24/7 protect a whole island? Considering the times this was in and how brutal/dark other Kingdoms can be, Magnostadt's "worst" is literally just sapping magic off of the descendant of the previous goi running the place. Kou invades kingdoms & does so-many other heinous shit, Reim supports the brutal killing of people in coliseums & also participates in invasions, etc. Mogamett gets so much flack cause the arc focuses on him, but you guys should also give his good moments props since he's not at all the worst ruler in the Magiverse.

Devante Vickers

Ey, we are allowed to just have discussions and jokes about fiction. You forget fiction shapes what people love to do in the real world. People are mainly inspired by fiction than non fiction.

Skebaba

No such thing as false positive Rukh. They don't care about complex shit like the actual thought-processes behind ppl, they only care whether they are goodies on Core level (as well as whether they are going w/ the Flow of Things (i.e Fate), or are going against the Flow (i.e the black Rukh, which are anti-Fate), they are basically nanomachine drones that are mindless on practical level (unless you activate the Soul data embedded inside them passively, but normally that can realistically only be done by a Magi, for administrative reasons of course)

Skebaba

Why are Magicians even oppressed anyway? Surely some countries should be big brain enough to say "yo are you a magician being fucked up in your country? Join MY country! We will offer you quality of life improvements and high pay for using your magic!", that's fr fr just basic business sense, no?

Skebaba

Yeah the only other decent place to live in is prolly Sindria, and that's only made possible by my fucker Sinbad having SEVEN DJIJNNs like the pimp that he is. It's also relatively small compared to many other kingdoms (albeit more densely populated, given its island nature)

Erica Collins

U may be right but do we know the population of the Magi world? He could find 200k criminals lol They'd just be from different countries

Skebaba

I always keep cracking up when I hear them use "goi" in the series. I know it means like "non-chosen" or some shit like w/ Judaism where it's used for non-Jews (i.e not one of the Chosen People), so it makes sense to use given the visual thematics of the series and all that (especially since Solomon is the OG gangsta and all that, and he's quite important for the series and all that)

Random Guy

Because a lot of goi rulers have big heads. Pretty much every ruler we have been introduced to in this show (except Sinbad and Scheherazade) are like this. But in even IRL, people are scared of what they can't understand, see salem witch trials for example.

Rot

Which is weird since he was just getting laughed at & ridiculed by the crowd in the coliseum despite being tortured by that monkey, the only one who seemed to care was Toto. If Alibaba who was a guest from Sindria was put through that treatment, you can only imagine what the slaves & criminals get put through in there.

Argo2Unitard

What's with this trend of defending guys that are "not as bad"? Imprisoning a whole group of people, including the children, and literally sapping away their life force makes you a shitty person, no caveats or excuses. This whole "us or them" argument is the definition of racism.

Rot

Most of them don't mind and in fact want to live down there due to them basically having free food/drinks & welfare in comparison to the brutality that awaits them outside ( or at least in certain parts that aren't ruled by Sindria, Magnostadt and Reim ), we've both been watching the same anime, you know how people from the slum/of lower class are treated in other countries. Sure its horrible that children are there as well as those born without having anything to do with what the previous people in Musta'sim were doing/exploiting the magicians. This is magi, you're going to see 'lots of scummy shit throughout the anime and even further into the manga, what Mogamett did here is a pat in the back in comparison to what we've seen and what we'll see. Not to mention; Magnostadt is a fairly new country, just 30 years old, obviously new countries start with fucked up shit and as they progress certain things change. Also considering this is during times where slavery is part and parsel of existing.

Ec Aea

But you need to ask the real question though , are they better off IN the slums , get robbed , get killed , get scammed for the sake of not starving , or are they better off living a life in the underground and be fed 3 full meals a day but have a shorter lifespan , which life is much more miserable to live through? Its the same concept of whether would you prefer being an immortal where no matter how hard you try you will never die and eventually be starved for stimulations , or would you prefer living a life full of activity but only up to your lifespan? And honestly , the what the director said is less about brainwashing and more of his blatant honesty. Whatever he said he meant it 100% fully. There is a reason why his rukh is still pure despite his "wrong-doings". His intention is pure , but the way he go about it is wrong.

Ec Aea

@skebaba , it is exactly that sentiment that made them being treated that way. Country find them useful and started providing them special privileges and stuff. Nobles sees it and starts to get jealous. And then the noble themselves will start finding reason to cause rumors and get them in trouble with the citizen. Haven't you watch the previous episode with them already? They got nobility titles , ended up getting having rumor spread on them for starting the epidemic , and shits turns into a witch hunt.

Ec Aea

Racism doesn't work this way , they didn't oppress them , they didn't "imprison" them. He clearly mentioned that there are GOIS that work aboveground. Those who live underground willingly stays underground , and those who were born underground were just a problem that their parents had brought upon the country. What are you going to do with the children who wants to go above ground? You bring 1 , another will start asking for it too. You either bring all of them above ground or you bring none. And if you bring all of them above ground , who is going to look after them? They're going to starve in slums and die a death way worse than in the underground. Their parents don't care as they prefer life underground. You get what i mean? Whats happening in Magnostadt is just a Symbiotic relationship between the Gois and Magicians. The Magician provide them a safe haven with no worries of food and lodging , the Gois provide Magician necessary power to make use of their magic.

Drake Rage

Mogamett said that the goi in District 5 live longer than they had under the previous goi King, so they have a longer lifespan now due to living in a safe place with everything provided for them. Sick people in District 5 dying earlier than they would have is the only actual negative thing about Mogamett's system. But the benefits far outweigh the con, realistically. It was funny seeing Sheera and Lupa coming up with headcanon saying "fake positive rukh" and "turning black rukh to look like good rukh" when the show said nothing about it, because it's not true, lmao.

Ec Aea

Its alright if they take the shots. As long as we explain the actual point of view nicely to them hopefully they can understand as well. Because right now they are thinking that Mogamett's intention is pure evil and he wish for world domination. And Lupa san talked over for almost 50% of the conversation with Mogamett in it thats why there is a lot of detail he didn't actually catch properly. Sheera always thinks too much anyways, this is her norm , this is how sometimes shes able to predict stuff way before the actual episode. Its both a curse and a blessing.

Drake Rage

Lmao, I just thought of the "goi" term to mean the same as "muggles" from Harry Potter. Just people who can't use magic. But Mogamett does bring up a good point that "Rukh" is supposed to lead them to live the "right way" and since only Magicians can see Rukh, they need to be the ones leading the people. This idea seems wrong but since they established that the Magicians' most important goal is "pursuit of knowledge" and not lust for power/dominance etc.. It is true that they would make a better Country for their people than non-magicians that care more about wars, dominance, slavery, etc. That is literally what Aladdin's job is too, except Magis have to choose a worthy King and remain as advisors, but actual worthy Kings are going to be super rare.

Ranginald Vagel

Magic is pretty newly being advanced is the issue. Put yourself in the shoes of a goi ruler. Some of the people randomly have mysterious superpowers. Do you trust that you can control all these mfs with superpowers and risk devolping people with weapons only they can use, or do you make sure they can’t use this power that, to be clear, you yourself cannot use, against you? That’s why magic development has stagnated until some magicians finally said enough is enough and started their own place.

Victor

What Mogamett said and his ideal is not bullshit at all. In fact, Magnostadt is the only place in the world that magicians can have that much privileges. The situation about magicians and the goi rulers is happening all over other kingdoms, not just that one time for Mogamett like you thought. The magicians are just tools in some countries and clearly some of the magicians here feel the same discrimination in their home countries just like Mogamett, and that's why they have empathy and understand his decision, hell even Sphintus like his ideal. You all are too biased and determined that Mogamett is evil that you misjudged all of his motives. And one important thing that you all seem to miss/ forget that he does not want to enslave the goi: the only ones that stay in 5th District are goi citizens who are UNABLE TO PAY THE TAX LIABILITY, or they themselves prefer an idle life. There are about 20k of goi citizens in the 3rd District who have technical skills, work for the army or the government and another 80k normal goi citizens who pay their tax and live in 4th District. I am not saying that this system is good or anything as it's definitely flawed and biased towards magicians, but you need to realize that it is much more tolerable for the goi citizens to live here (with the support of magic and magical tools, their living conditions are quite great tbh) than what the magicians have in some other countries

Rami Homsi

I think it's wild that the comments are defending Mogamett right now. I understand that he's been wronged in his past and how that can easily make him bitter, but the entire point of the show (seen by the Hakyryuu plot as well) is that violence and oppression can so easily beget more violence and oppression. Mogamett was wronged horribly in his youth, and now in power is exploiting others for his own benefit. What continues to make it fucked up, is that it's only a subset of the goi population too. Specifically, the population that can't afford to pay their taxes, meaning that they were impoverished to begin with. Just because a person is poor means that they're deserving of less rights? That's essentially what the citizenship system in Magnostadt amounts to: a very severe caste system. The population in level 5 may have unlimited food, water, and shelter, but they have reduced freedom of movement and their living conditions are awful. They're essentially living in a prison, and just because they were born without power (literally magic) and wealth. I think the show's point about Mogamett is really compelling, but you can't just ignore what he's doing just because of his history

Greg Harrison

Mogamett is basically Eren/Magneto. His people are being used so he becomes an extremist and does an extreme for the good of his people. The fact he doesn't just genocide them all like Dracula and he allows Goi who pay taxes to live aboveground shows he's not completely malicious with it. It's still a messed up system, but it is a interesting dilemma in the Magi world, like mutants in marvel trying to make their own country type thing. The Magnostadt system is such a nice addon to the Magi world, made the world much more interesting

Random Guy

You forget that majority of them asked to be there. They were already poor and had bad living conditions to begin with, even back from the time of the Mustasim Empire. They died from starvation when crops were poor, they died from nobles overworking them, they died from bandits, they died from wars, and they died from extreme weather conditions. Now, none of those are in the underground shelter. Mogamett said, that their mortality rate was now much lower than it was in the previous regime. So the fact is, Mogamett pretty much improved their lives. Remember what Mogamett said? Did anyone ask to be taken out of there? None. They wanted to be there in the first place where they don't have to work, and still get to eat, sleep, drink and have sex however much they desire. Oh but there is at least two people who asked to be taken out. Remember who? Children. Now let's ask ourselves the question. Whose fault is it that the children were there? It's the fault of the adults who didn't want to work, the chief of the underground said as much. Remember what Marga's mom said? It is possible to get a job to get out of the underground, (Marga wanted to become a scholar). This isn't modern times, you wouldn't need a four year course, diploma, or tons of certifications to get work. So why didn't they? Because they are lazy. I'm sure you might have heard a story or two of homeless people being offered jobs but rejecting them because apparently you can earn more money by begging instead of working 9 to 5., The only downside to this is that sick people can die, but the same thing can be said for other poor people even outside the underground due to being poor and they can't afford medication, there's little to no difference there. Sure it's not the best conditions, but if you look at everywhere in the magiverse for the same type of people they are living in far much better conditions.

Sam Smith

Irene out here with a scanner, bout to catch Aladdin with a magoi level over 9000

Zazies Beret

I'm not understanding why a lot of y'all are caping for Mogamett in these comments.... Those people do not enjoy being underground. The majority of them literally have to accept their environment or go insane. You can't tell me any human being would love living in a literal ditch be ffr. Also, for all of the "they chose to be there" did you not hear them say that if one of them tries to escape they will kill them all. Saying they chose to be there makes no sense when the people who "chose" to be there are dead and these are the remaining generations (mostly). Mogamett is trash, he didn't make a better country than the one that he came from he just flipped the script. You can be a separatist all you want like I get it I'm Black I understand, but at the expense of people and CHILDREN when you can literally just run the country without them? Absolutely not.

Drake Rage

There is a lot of grey in this series. All the countries we have seen so far have slaves, the poorest "class" in every country other than Sindria had horrible living conditions. Mogamett's backstory would make anyone a villain, but is he doing villain things? is he taking revenge on all "goi"? No, his speech was about Magicians rising above those kinds of petty emotions and be logical and efficient and make a better world for people to live in. When every country's poorest "class" of people have horrible lives, death, and slavery, Mogamett's country's poorest "class" is given everything they need to live, and safety. Leam Empire is supposed to be good right? It is led by a Magi, the Sheherazaad girl, they entered an alliance with Sindria, but they said that only "citizens" of Leam live a good life, the slaves and stuff have horrible lives. People are forced to fight to the death in the colosseum, etc. Remember Kou Empire sent that Prince, Kouha I believe, to make Magnostadt surrender or prepare for War against Kou Empire, and Mogamett chose War. The Prince was surprised Magnostadt had become so strong to be confident enough to choose War with Kou, the Empire that is wrecking and conquering countries across the continent. So Mogamett's system has made his country one of the strongest forces in the world. (Magnostadt also serves as a Safe Haven for all Magicians in the World, since Magicians are treated really poorly by Kings/Nobles) TL;DR Mogamett looks like a Bad guy on the surface, but the story/nuance is a lot deeper in Magi. I am not saying he is Good, but at the same time, it is wrong to say he is Bad.

Ophelia Pane

This dude needs to have a rotation of magic and non-magic users go down there to power the city then I would say this is pretty fair.

ok

lol if only criminals were there then a system of mass incarceration would be required to proliferate crime and criminals.
