It’s still painful that there’s no season 3 and probably never will be. The next couple of arcs in the manga after this one are absolute fire and would’ve been amazing to watch

I think the reason why we might never get a season 3 could be because of the "antisemitic"/anti-Zionist aspect to the portrayal of the character Matal Mogamett. The Jewish community usually gets very agressive when caricatures of their anti-goy segregationism get so public. I remember finding a few articles online back in the day stating that this anime was promoting hatred towards Jews. Wouldn't be surprised if this show got cancelled after that.

Idk i feel like the plot actually significantly got better in s2. S1 felt a little like your stereo typical Shonen where as s2 is where the series seemed expand a lot on itself.

Japan is mostly immune to cancelling, that's because anime is mostly targeted towards Japanese audience, global markets are only secondary, The main reason why we won't have an actual season 3, is because there really isn't enough material for it. I've read the manga until the end and we're actually pretty close to the end already. Kinda like how maid-sama, where there is only like a few chapters left in the manga that they couldn't really justify making an entire anime just for a couple of episodes.

The problem is they were good at the first whereas they try too hard when it comes to the second. They up the lore and the stakes without actually upping the gravity of the situation. So you end up with a "fighting facists with friendship" scenario where friendship just wins because hax.

No clue how they did magic in Alma Toran tho (you can see the HUMAN (assuming the species are Human, you never know w/ Demi-Human types in fantasy, some are practically identical to Humans externally) forms of plenty of the Djinn in some of the flashbacks from Solomon's POV thanks to Wisdom occasionally, Amon was izi to find cuz he's the only old fart there rly in the flashbacks), given they weren't Djinn there or w/e

I highly doubt that's the case. Japan doesn't care what the international community thinks of it's shows. AOT also has jewish analogues and it's been received extremely well. The sad answer is there just wasn't a strong enough will from the studio to do a 3rd season.

Have you actually read the manga? Season 2 is nowhere near the end, halfway is debatable. The manga had a whole timeskip. They definitely have the material, the story just went into a more political direction then previously, which general audiences might not have liked, unfortunately.
