If you’ve been dealing with sharp, burning, or hypersensitive pain at the head of your penis (the glans), you’re not alone, and you’re not stuck.

In this video, I break down the neuroanatomy of the glans so you can understand what’s actually going on with your anatomy. We’ll also walk through some treatment strategies that involve gradual desensitization, what we call graded exposure, to help calm nerve sensitivity and rewire pleasant touch. This can include direct touch using your hands, finger vibrators, or even masturbation sleeves (yes, they’re more than just toys). I would like to know more about the sleeve since reaching my penis causes more intense pain in the groin area and genitals

I have experienced what I would call discomfort in the glans sometimes when urinating or ejaculating. My PFPT suggested not washing the penis directly with soap or body wash in the shower. The urethra opening can be sensitive to chemicals included in those items. Just letting soap that runs down the body be enough for that area. Always thought you should wash everything thoroughly, so was surprised when she mentioned this as the first thing to try for my issue. So far it seems to have had some benefit 😊

Dr. Susie, I have a lack of sensitivity of the penis and also delayed ejaculation. Could this be caused by damage or neuropathy of the dorsal nerves you described? And I'm referring to damage from diabetes. What else can cause lack of sensitivity of these nerves?

Dr. Susie, for a while now, I have experienced a sensation similar to a buzzing in my frenulum, when I urinate with a particularly heavy stream. This feeling builds until suddenly, something spasms at the external base of my penis, clamping off the flow entirely. I then stand there at the urinal for a few minutes, like a dummy, trying to deep breath in order to get the stream flowing once more. Additionally, when ejaculating, I get the snap of a sharp, painful, "bug zapper-like" sting in the frenulum. This was a definite mood killer, while having sex. A few visits in and my PFPT, Michelle had isolated the problem to the Pudendal nerve. With external pressure applied to this nerve, the sensation has already changed/decreased and I feel is on the way to correction. Thank God for the Science behind this, and for those such as Yourself and Michelle, who have studied this and can provide this help!
