What is a varicocele… and what can you actually do about it? 🤔

A varicocele is enlarged veins in the scrotum caused by blood pooling when the veins are not moving blood efficiently back toward the heart. Some people have no symptoms at all. Others notice a dull ache, heaviness, or discomfort that gets worse with standing, lifting, workouts, or long days on their feet.

In this video, I discuss:

What a varicocele is

Common symptoms

Why they often happen on the left side

What can help ease discomfort

When medical treatment may be worth considering

And what physical therapy can and can’t do

I also talk about why sudden pain or swelling should never be ignored!

Watch the video to learn more and better understand what may be going on down there if you're experiencing any of these symptoms.

I was gifted the bilateral 0.4mm ones, but urology has yet to get back to me on grading them; this is not too concerning, but the ultrasound was two months ago. NEPA health care, for which my ins. premium is $718/month, is wild. I've yet to encounter a true doctor in three months, only NPs.

Thanks Dr Susie, we need to get anything out of the ordinary checked as you say.

I have been plagued with these for a number of years, both right and left side. For some reason they seem to correct themselves over time and form again maybe a year or two later.

I have occasional pain from a varicose vein on my left testicle, and went to urgent care once for it. They did an ultra sound ruling out other problems. The ultra sound tech told me they have a steady influx of patients with similar pain, so this is really common. I think mine was caused by a baseball injury. It's helpful to know how to treat. Thanks
