They expect them to surrender, and on the "teaching how to fear" part, that was apparently Genghis Khan's forte. We were taught stories-I'm not sure how accurate they are-but basically, he was the Hitler of the Middle East. He did think of himself as the greatest and wanted to do the same as Hitler did, but instead of killing everyone else, he decided to "spread his seed" to as many people as possible. To get people to surrender, it was said that one of his fear tactics was that, after winning a battle, he would make a show by ordering all of the POWs to be gathered by his army, starting the feast preparations, taking half of the POWs, and slaughtering them in front of the rest. Then he would pretend to take the butchered meat and cook it in the prepared pots-not really human meat would be already in the pots-then the army would eat and feast in front of the horrified comrades of the supposed food. Then he would release them because if there are no survivors, then there is no story of how ruthless and horrific he is.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I’m gonna be honest with you I’ve always known him as a ruthless But his name generally comes with a positive sound as a conquer and leader Like Alexandra the great So it’s interesting how depending on where you grow up people receive historical figures much differently Even more reason for me to be mindful of my comments people I consider heroes may be villains in another part of the world and vice versa

Very appreciated, and that is why I qualify my statement with "I was told" and "I don't know how true it is." In school, we are told a lot of things, but the same teachers tell us the winner writes history (showt out Doflamingo). To be honest, I was curious about the history more after school when I noticed that if our side does it, it is called so and so conquered or liberated, and if it were someone else, it would say so and so invaded or occupied; perspective is interesting

Yessssss This was a healthy discussion. It seems like we come from two different sides of the same coin. Both of us acknowledging that the information we have may or may not be accurate, but it’s the best we have to go from But as I approach these subjects, I’m prepared to be wrong And frankly, there’s certain things will never know the truth about So my goal is to be open minded and respectful If everyone watches this and walks away learning more about each other to me, that’s a win

A lot of the events and characters of this story are based on real world history. Ofc some characters are fiction and the details of the story are all made up but the major events are based in reality. Sitara spoke up because she knew how much Fatima valued the book. So yes if they treated her worse she wouldn't care about the book and Fatima would be alive unironically. And Nishapur retaliation was because the dead commander was a relative and he wanted revenge.
