As a girl from East Tennessee (flyover country!) I’m here to tell you that you have no clue how deified she is here. I have a Dolly tattoo. My boyfriend has a Dolly tattoo. I have an autograph. I’ve seen her live twice. I’ve been to Dollywood more times than I can count. I’m also here to agree that the Rockstar album is AWFUL. She’s clearly just doing a bit. But if you ever wanna get into her good music I think there’s plenty of material that could be up your alley. Start with the Little Sparrow or Grass is Blue albums. Or the Live and Well album, which I regard as the vocal bible (I missed the recording for it by one day when I was a kid). I agree that she’s way too overexposed to the general public but there’s so much good material that gets overlooked in favor of the cheap shit.
