Hey everyone! Today I want to know your opinions about a new addition I've been planning. 🔥

In short, after some changes I made to the character sprites, I can now add more outfit and expression variations without impacting the final game size as much.

This also opened up the possibility of adding poses for the same outfits, and I'd like to know if you think this is an implementation worth investing in.

The positive side of this addition would be way more dynamic dialogues, a more faithful representation of the characters' reactions, and improved player immersion.

The negative side would be the extra work required to create the poses, and I also noticed that it's reeeally hard to change just one specific part of an image without leaving visible signs of editing. Not gonna lie, this is the kind of thing I have no idea if you even notice or not, but I always cringe when I see an error like this.

Another downside is that eventually I'd have to redo the dialogue poses for the first 4 chapters, but that could be postponed until after Chapter 05. 😅

So, what do you think? Is it worth it? Vote and leave a comment. I really want to know your opinion.

this seems like the type of thing that would def burn me out personally but if you think its important and ur passionate about it I say go for it

MulleDullen

I’d love to see more variations. But you know what fits your workflow. I already love the game, so just take your time with it

To be honest, I would like to see those changes in the new chapter, but it would take much more time, which I don't want. But I think it would be good for future changes; they're not necessary in previous chapters, it's up to you.And as for the small errors between sprites, even though we notice them, we don't pay them any attention; they don't feel unnatural, so don't worry.

I do think that it would be cool to do, but you’ve done such a good job making the game that I lean towards no, just for the sake of getting the update out faster. That said, if the time it would take is an extra couple of days or nothing too bad, I see no reason why not

Perfection is the enemy of progress. But I’ll support you, whatever you decide to do <3

The more the better. I'm all for it. Brings the characters to life. Specially if and when you'll add voices to game, it'll be really hot! If I have to wait til April for Chapter 5, so be it! 😅😉

Changes are welcome as long as that didn't delay the release of the game in time, no problem.

Thanks, brother! I totally agree with you, and I even have to admit that I need to keep myself in check when it comes to perfectionism

DTZ Games

True, that combo would be killer. I haven't invested in voices yet because I know it's something that will take quite a bit of work, but when it comes, I'm sure it'll be awesome!

DTZ Games

Every addition or attention to detail makes the update take longer to come out. The key is finding balance and knowing what is really worth it!

DTZ Games

Great to know that! Thanks, brother 💜

I made this sketch to create the GIF in about 50 minutes. So I'd say that in 3 or 4 days of intense work I could make the pose variations for the next chapter. And this applies to everything, the question is whether it's worth it

Burn you out as the player or as the dev?

Changes in facial expressions are a huge plus. For example the look she gives MC a the pool party when her eyes go wide looking down at him is arguably my favourite moment in the game for the face she makes. However smaller edits and changes in body positioning for dialogue scenes, although a great way to make it flow and feel more natural, also seem unnecessary for a game that's already great. Personally I'd rather see fast development then minor tweaking in areas like this 😁

📋✍️🤔 Writing everything down! Thanks for the feedback, and I'm glad you liked that scene. At the time I was SUPER excited about the result, and for me it's also one of the best scenes in the game so far

ill never get tired of ana my goat

These additions would be nice, but it would increase your already heavy workload. It would be a nice bonus, but overall, I think its unnecessary since your game is already fantastic
