1: Perry is cajoled into creating locker rooms and showers for male and female team members in his lair and this leads to him stumbling across another underground lair. (possibly in  the middle of Heather bathing, Probably not)2: the healing spell prototype causes serious problems and Perry has to visit his estranged Grandma in Funkytown. (basically the queen of magical england)If you suggest a mini-arc that is hands down better than either of these, i will erase your comment and take credit for the idea.

Joe ?

I like visiting grandma, but I also kind of don't understand why he doesn't feedback loop himself up to level 10? If making better stuff gives him levels, and leveling helps him make better stuff, couldn't he just make like a machine that builds a paper airplane every time he presses a button and as long as he keeps dumping points into attunement the paper airplanes keep getting better

Macronomicon

a paper airplane does not net him much in the way of monetary, physical or political opportunities, nor does it restrict other people's opportunities. Basically the MC will only ever gain XP when he does something that tangibly benefits his future a great deal or restricts or even eliminates another person's future, (I.E. arresting or killing them)

If we go with perry's magical fairy grandmother, I think the mishap should be him accidentally turning himself into a slime. Or something similar. Maybe waking up the mimic spirit, have it just keep yelling at perry that it's hungry and wants him to eat his friends. Or all three? He grows a slime-arm that's possessed by his fancy new awakened mimic spirit familiar thing that tries to eat his friends and colleages, starting with his magical octo-buddy. Then goes to his grandma for help. Then do the lair expansion/discovery afterwards. Edit: another idea, the spell malfunctions such that his armpit-hair is now technically part of the saint's scalp, which earns him immense displeasure from the religious figure because such shenanigans fall under being, "too wierd about it."

Macronomicon

also it's a bit author-handwaving. Aaaand if Perry did find a way to power level to ten in a short time, according to my headcanon, he would most likely go thoroughly insane and destroy the world. It's about the journey to insanity, not the destination. =)

Macronomicon

I was thinking fractal arms coming off his arm.

A disgruntled nondescript squirrel

it could easily be hand waved away by just saying that its not just the quality but also the effort originality and difficulty for to Perry to create the invention that provides the xp preventing the enchant a better enchanter's ring loop from working

Joe ?

Then could he like make a bomb that very slowly rolls towards powerful public villains? Or like a president seeking bullet that he randomly sells with a batch of a million mundane rounds? Does he have to actually do the thing or just have the potential to do it? And yeah I figured the Doylist explanation was probably that it would end the story too soon.

Throngler In Chief

Fractal arms? Sounds cool and mind-bendy to look at. Maybe eight octopus tentacle themed fractals because he's running the spell through octopus brain cells. Would be both wild and crazy and give his friends all kinds of ammunition for ribbing and shit-talking later.

Perry gets an owl inviting him to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Actually, no, Terry gets the invite. *Something* happens to strike at his magical mojo, and so he has to slum it as a muggle (tinker) before earning back his powers. Classic story arc.

Dave the unicorn decides to soft pitch perry the idea of selling his spellframes.

If the mimic spirit earns itself a voice in this story then my enjoyment of it as a superhero story would feel squashed. The narrative plot point for the mc would tilted toward “keep the demon inside” and that’s been done before.

Throngler In Chief

Nah, not creepy enough. Dave should offer to consign Perry and any of his virgin friend's nail clippings, hair trimmings, and blood samples in his shop at no charge, or at a special low rate, as long as they stay virgins. You know, as encouragement for them to "keep it platonic" and maybe so Dave can make himself some specialty incense. Then maybe have the spellframes/automatic rituals be the counteroffer.

Healing spell is so strong after modifiers it brings the Saint back to life accidentally from the hair

It's kinda weird we get notified about your patronage, but I don't think I've heard of that author yet, so let's go.

There are plenty of existing characters to have snarky opinions on things. And by the nature of the mimic it would potentially eat screen time everytime Perry appears on screen. Putting two character in the exact same sphere of awareness is asking for twice the work. The stated focus thus far has been on creating an ensemble and creating characters that do things and exist in the world separate from the main character. Giving the mimic screen time would directly contrast these goals. It’s not a bad or wrong story idea, but it would definitely narratively change this specific story’s direction. As for the potential of the mimic being some kind of information source, there are outlets for information already existing in this world. With this new idea of a grandmother being floated as a next story arc we now have three distinct levels of info outflow from the other world in the form of hexen, Dave, and this grandmother. I personally believe it would be more interesting for the worldbuilding to hear information from different perspectives rather than a single source that’s always on hand inside of Perry.

I always enjoy those notifications. It is like really good reading recommedations.

There's also likely a soft cap on experience gains after Perry goes supercritical and takes over the world. If nothing exists on the planet that can challenge him anymore, he'll have to go elsewhere for that challenge. EXP is only obtained upon achieving something that improves your potential future, so anything you do that should be beneath your notice isn't worth XP.
