So I was thinking about giving Hardcase a slightly expanded powerset as a result of incedental contact with eldritch information.I was thinking she could absorb a little bit of Magneton's ability to dick with magnetism and design a mech-suit that takes advantage of this. Think of a floating egg-shaped cockpit whose arms and legs are connected only via magnetism. That would be her new look. This of course, to maintain the continuity of the world, should be paired with a minor, manageable, mental illness or flaw.kinda like she just took a perk that has positive and negative effects.I'm just not sure what the mental issue should be. I of course love lewd ones, but feel as though that's not the right fit for her character...yet.Let's crowdsource something good.

Gerald Monroe

That's fine but don't leave the protagonist out of the free powerups. Maybe an unasked for +1 in affinity and a free -1 to stability...(it's a net increase in power because of how the exponents work)

Rotary

She could inherit Magneton’s haughty attitude? Would definitely be an interesting dynamic between shy Hardcase and confident Hardcase.

Pastor Joubert

may want some outside comments on this one. Also, by making a small change now, you can let it come into focus as the story progresses and you get what feels right for the character.

Gavriel

Maybe make her hyperaware of physical contact, while simultaneously enhance her natural need for physical contact? This isn't directly lewd, but it should naturally accelerate her character development in that direction.

Rotary

Also, is this how powers are made? Anything that can make more/new powers sounds like something Solaris would *really* want for his wall.

Jared Bowers

So Dr Jekyll Mr Hyde action. So more or less hard case becomes bipolar to a degree

Pastor Joubert

Like being oddly reluctant to exit their suit, or accidentally eating a pen. A one time thing that says - something ain’t right - but what?

Gavriel

Enhance her need for physical contact (constantly hugging people, etc); bonus points if she gets as obsessed over it as she usually does, after. Hardcase: I need to hug you Perry: what?! Hardcase: I NEED TO HUG YOU! Perry thought bubble: Is this a sex thing? Hardcase (blushing and stuttering): it isn't a sex thing! Perry thought bubble: did she read my mind, and more importantly, a hot girl is hugging me. Hardcase: blush intensifies Heather: Get a room! The part that doesn't fit, YET Hardcase: m..m..maybe?

Macronomicon

Well, yes and no. It makes like, 80% crazy and 20% new powers. There is no known SAFE way of accomplishing it.

Macronomicon

Something happened to him too. he just can't remember it. =)

Joe ?

I think a predilection for melodrama and verbosity when her tinker twitch is active sounds interesting. Like she starts by muttering to herself, and that gradually ramps up to mad scientist laughter and insane, over the top declarations of revenge as she hooks up power couplings or flips a switch that causes lightning to arc to her creation while cackling

Ford-Thomas Frank Loveland

Maybe not deliberately lewd but a lower mental filter. More lively to say what they are thinking despite it going against social norms. Make it a major sense of embarrassment and continue her monologs into her talking about how she is embarrassed.

Thomas

The increased ability to manipulate magnetism could cause a mild case of tourette syndrome and epilepsy. This is because changing magnetic fields create electric fields and vice versa, so the ability to mentally manipulate magnetism could create electric discharge in the brain that causes tourette tics and outbursts and when the power is over used causes seizures. Mild downside, but topical, leads to funny outbursts and situations, and logically consistent.

Ford-Thomas Frank Loveland

Wow, you took my basic idea polished it and made it shine. I loved this explanation and in depth thought

Macronomicon

I knew a guy with tourette's. He described it as bubbling up inside him and being forced to say something, but he had control over WHAT he said, so he always said somethign funny. He got really good at it.

SunderGoldmane

She’s now obsessed with getting things on sale. She develops an addiction to pumpkin spice flavored drinks. She doesn’t wear any other kind of t shirts except ones with innuendo on them, but that’s the actual extent of her new lewd behavior. Maybe instead of a “new power” it could be more like an inspiration into magnetism and how it can work with her current skill set. So I guess like how you described it as a perk. Setting precedent for “stare at the tide = gain extra new powers” may not help the story go forward. But if knowledge of the tide was stored in association with some else’s power then your own existing powers start shifting to try and incorporate it. Like this message was stored in some kind of magnet thing built by a guy with magnet powers so now magnetism is the easiest path forward when in the tinker twitch, because they’ve had some deep deep submersion into that kind of understanding. This would mean Perry may have a hint of it to, though it could be reasonably expected that the influence is offset by his stat system and leads to a minor fascination with magnetism while not adding any kind of negative sacrifice. With hardcase not having a stat body, it would tilt her tinker twitch a bit harder than Perry’s and some “normality/stability” could be expected to be sacrificed.

Littleme02

I do like the others suggestions with obsession with physical contact, but mabye frame it as an obsession or urge to push what she is comfortable with. At first it's fairly minor like sitting in perry's lap, but would get much lewder over time.

FreakShow

I like the idea of megalomania and severe narcissism. It’d be funny (only in the fictional setting) to see the usually shy hardcase battle with spurts and bursts of typical Mad Scientist Syndrome.

Alex LeBlanc

Intermittent and uncontrollable technopathy might be neat, hearing whispers from the machines at random times, with her being able to command them having the same limitations, so there'd be incomplete and unexpected orders. As an example, saying that she's going for a walk, and her suit hearing "go ... walk", and leaving.

Jeff Kabat

Mild Claustrophobia after her father tried to crush her seems appropriate. Whatever you decide on, please don't Nerf the character so bad that it ruins her as a character.

SunderGoldmane

Random muttering monologues. The monologues themself can be as diverse as the suggestions in this thread.

SunderGoldmane

You are thinking of heather, hardcase is the fellow tinkerer that just got nose bled.

KB

Superhero tourettes. She has to shout out lines like “you will never get away with this!” Or supervillain tourettes where its “You would have gotten away with it if it wasn’t for us meddling kids”.

Driftward

Magnetic personality? She suddenly gets more attention from others which stresses her poor introvert tinker self. The phenomenon is mostly limited to strangers due to an "inoculation" effect that limits the strength of the effect with greater time exposed. Kind of fits the theme of the power and could introduce some "lewd" themes but from other throw away characters propositions her and then feed into her eventual awakening.

James Earl Givens

tendency to stick on subjects others gloss over or dont want to focus on like social magnets to sh*t

Deinos

How about she's mentally confused sometimes and mistakes shows of unkindness with acts of violence.

Carl Mason

You want to make Hardcase into Rayman? I mean, I'm down, but... Maybe remove her internal monologue, every thought she has she speaks, some quietly some louder but all aloud.

Carl Mason

It seems like most of us want her to become a gibbering mess, but still intelligent and socially conscious.

Gaunt

If ya like that style, imagine every time you turn on something electronic, it gains sentience plus, if it could make a noise, it can now talk. If that sounds up your alley, i'd recommend TAP by cebelius.

Jacob

How about short bouts of megalomania. Every now and then sweet hardcase goes full on power hungry dominatrix and then right back to normal as if nothing happened. Could be that in gaining some of his twitch she also gains a bit of his personality every now and again

0xFFF1

During the Heather rescue arc it was implied that there are a multitude of methods for supers to turn others into supers, but it invariably requires some degree of actual mortal risk to Trigger. That part is easy, just try to kill them slowly enough to elicit a stress/adrenaline response. The tricky part is to give them the specific power you want them to have.

0xFFF1

Time to consult the Machine Spirit

0xFFF1

I want Perry to eventually get access to the shapeshifting from his mimic soul, but it clashes with Heather's niche. Eh, probably for the best that it's sealed away in a Mob Psycho ???% mode like Perry's magic talent.

Sanairb

She sometimes likes to press herself flat to metal like she's magnetically attracted to it.

John Anastacio

Obsession with vibrations, both in a physics sense and in a personal sense. Hardcase installs a large purple vibrator joystick ala plug and play control rod in her mech suit and in her.

Throngler In Chief

If you go with the tourettes idea, I'd say it should sort-of scale with her power in that it becomes both more and less severe as she gains more control over magnetism. Like, have it start off with her blurting things out, then start it being both her and nearby electronics, then eventually have it become random devices in her vicinity blurting things out while she remains quiet. It's all fun and games until the toaster screams profanities while the neighbor's prosthetic leg expresses intense sexual frustration. Bonus idea: AI can hear her outbursts and are completely terrified of her because she "sounds" like a technopath that's also a gibbering lunatic with violent sexual proclivities. There's only so many times you can scream something like, "Prawn fucking ass-biscuit!" In combat Across the electronic spectrum before AI pattern recognition starts making deductions. Extremely flawed deductions, but deductions nonetheless.

Andrew

I don't know if this will count but there's a lot of math and physics that just doesn't make sense like things work that Shouldn't Because of our math and physics that we know I don't even understand the physics behind bikes Sorry for going on a tangent but maker obsessed with that

Nobody

Tourrettes isn't really like that, better to not stick a hard label on a fictional mental illness, it's just poor taste.

Nobody

Mental illnesses are hard to do in a way that isn't insulting, something like Delusions are pretty safe because they tend to be case by case. That said eldrich knowledge more lends itself to the "illness" actually being failed attempts at psychic communication.

Jersbears

Is NTR a mental illness?
