*PART-TIME PREPPED HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

This episode did NOT go as planned...for me or any of these ladies! On the one hand, Shirase's "calculated" strategy gets put to the test to get on board an Antarctic expedition -- but amidst that chaos we meet a beacon of light: Hinata! I love her so much already!

Of the hundreds of anime I've watched, this is one of about 12 I've given a 10/10. This is one of the few that shows you can tell a full story in 13 episodes. Every character is well thought out. Every challenge feels real. I await being able to discuss more details with you. I love how this anime portrays travel fairly accurately. teens in urban/suburban have easy access to so much through public transportation, but going half way across the country is something they still need hide from her parents. These are still children. Their drive to break past the easy road is impressive even for adults. Most anime portray children as "can do anything" and the world bends to their will. This anime just FEELS so much more real.

Thankfully Bocchi is in a different show, because that scene of them running around all over Shinjuku had so much 'seishun energy' she wouldn't have been happy. Also, one of the girls that chased them was such efficient runner she reminded me of T-1000 from Terminator 2. Anyway, I loved that explanation of why Antarctica gets called a place further than the universe, if they pull it off these high school girls really will be putting Katy Perry to shame. I think that's the best thing about the setup of this show is that there's plenty of stories of epic journeys set in fantasy or sci-fi, but not so much in a down to earth setting, the closest I can think of are road-trip stories, but the goal being Antarctica makes it so much more than that because it really is such an alien place from day to day life.

And the smallest girl with the strongest mentality has arrived, you gonna love the chemistry between her and Shirase, quite similar straight personality but also a bit of difference.

Hahaha, Bocchi would have NOT agreed to meet Shirase on that train for sure! That’s hilarious to think about, though - oh what might have been! YES, I was thinking of Terminator as well! Let’s not make Katy Perry feel worse than she already may…oof. XD I agree, this definitely has this down to earth feel to it! And it definitely has an “alien” feel to it in that regard while still being realistic. Thank you for the comment!

That’s some VERY high praise! I’m going to try and not get myself too hyped up for now, so that I’m not let down later, but I hope that it lives up to the hype! I am excited to see where it goes! And yes, the travel aspect is pretty grounded in this episode! “The world bends to their will” is pretty apt to describe some shows and I appreciate that about it! Thank you for the comment!
