We are BACK and it feels like we never left, as this episode IMMEDIATELY picks up where Episode 12 of Season 1 left off (you can call it Episode 13 I guess) -- but wow, I had almost forgotten the weird, dry, wacky humor of DanDaDan...and how much I enjoy it!

This episode takes a bonkers journey for our crew and cranks it up to an eleven...and doesn't give us time to breathe, almost! Welcome back, DanDaDan!

you mention this show being bonkers. I agree. so far this show/humor reminds me of tremors. it can't quite figure out if it wants to be serious or camp. it's a perfect blend. the creepy factor this episode was definitely high. the style of the townsfolk reminds me of that spiral anime, only this somehow was creepier.

I like how you mentioned Jiji's abs THREE times through this. lmao I'm so happy you are reacting to this! Especially exited to the next episodes, becuase this is probably my favourite arc I think. I like that in the hot spring scene Momo seems to be a little bit less capable than normal - I think this is very realistic. She is alone, naked and surrounded by very creepy looking, nearly naked older men. A lot of times in situation like that women are scared and can fight to their full strenght. She was caught in a vulnerable "exposed" moment. When she found Jiji and Okarun beaten up in the house it was a different situation. She was clothed and standing (and as Momo says herself in the season one, clothes are the weapon of Gyarus) and was on a more "equal" note to the Kita family members than in the hotsprings, which made her fight more capably and more "like her". I'm not sure if this is what author wanted to do, but it's definitely realistic for a girl in that situation. As an afab person myself I totally get Momo and can relate to her behavior in that episode in these two situations. Also - I love being a "cryptozoology kid" because I know all cryptids they mention in this show, including mongolian deathworm lol

This is the same studio as season 1, Science Saru has been doing the whole thing. Science Saru has done shows like Devilman crybaby as well, or that's the only Saru show I know you have seen... i think About Jiji, I don't know if I would call him naive necessarily, though it’s definitely up to interpretation. It's just that this is a rental house, his parents are in the hospital, and Jiji is a student with no income. I heavily assume he is trying to be on his best behaviour with the landlords who are "so kind they're not charging rent while his parents are in hospital" Like, sure, he has Momo’s place to go if stuff goes bad. (and he kinda went there already, changed schools and all, so I assume he went there with the plan of staying there for a longer period of time?) But they need to be in that house to keep investigating the house and the thing that keeps haunting his dreams, and such. Also, Jiji is very expressive with his body; he moves around constantly. But when he was confronted with the Kito family, he was very stiff in both body language and facial expressions. And the sweat on his face makes him look really nervous. Contrasted with much of his body language changed when he was "behind their backs" waving his hands at Okarun, in an attempt to communicate with Okarun about how he knew his favorite football team. So I interpreted it as him being nervous and careful around the Kito family, rather than him being naive and too trusting. Buuuut that’s just my personal thoughts about it. Something I love dandadan for a lot!! They drew male nipples XDDD so rare for an anime to do. Jiji doesn’t have just nice abs, he has nice pecs too! Jenifer Lopez was apparently in a movie named Anaconda, and that’s where the connection comes from. So glad to be back to Dandadan tho!! 🎉🎉🎉

So started reading this after the season ended so I could see what happened! Then everything was put on hold. So I didn’t read too far into this season so this will be new to me too! Getting back in the swing of things…..

Bonkers in the best way! Oohh, Tremors is a GREAT comparison (my brother LOVES that movie series, which probably ties into him loving this one so much) -- it's trying to decide between serious and camp - - why not both?! :D And yessss, Uzumaki connections were a plenty here! But I agree, this one can get creepier at times! Thank you for the comment!

I’m so glad to be back to DanDaDan as well! And ooohhhh, the Jennifer Lopez connection makes so much more sense, now, so thank you! And ahhh, that is a good note - FREE THE NIPS! Hahaha, these teens with their abs! That’s interesting about the studio being the same – maybe it’s just their branding that’s changed? I don’t remember that logo from season one – the first one, anyway! I think Jiji is very TRUSTING (more on that in episode 2) so maybe that’s the better adjective for it? 😛 It also doesn’t help, like you said, that he’s in a desperate situation. I really like that Jiji shows his personality through physicality as well! That’s a good point with him being stiff and nervous - I still think that maybe he is too trusting and easily manipulated, but I appreciate you pointing it out that maybe he did have an inkling of doubt about the whole situation; I love that y’all give me more to chew with this series! :D Thank you for that and the comment! Hahahaha, I was DISTRACTED by abs! XD the 8-pack; I cannot! I am so glad to be back with DanDaDan - it’s so exciting! And this arc looks like it will be a lot of fun! I think that’s an interesting point about Momo not being as exposed in the later scene - I liked in season one that Okarun was shown to be just as vulnerable as Momo - so I hope we have more of that equity in this season as well! Thanks for the comment and kind words – and the featuring of cryptids in this series is so fun!

Hey back a bit late to this one, been busy with summer stuff and here in Sweden you have to enjoy the summer while you can, not every year we get one worthy of the name "Summer". Hope you've been having a great summer thus far. Yeah there was no competing with the first OP and for me this one doesn't come close, on the other hand i do like this ED better than the first one so there is that. Jiji has been highly active and an athlete his whole life, instead i will give Okarun his due, those lunch break squats seems to really have paid off. Hey it's my favourite cryptid the Mongolian Death Worm, i did spot it on Okaruns magazine last season, but it might have been one of my comments that got flagged as i speculated we might see one in the show later... it was just much sooner than i had thought or suspected. About skirting the line, for me the very first episode in season one wasn't problematic as it was obviously absurd and i never feared the line would be crossed. But here (and by extension last episode last season) they made the sexual assault feel more menacing/real as i think was indicated by Momo not being sexualized (in contrast to the very first episode) instead that made it feel weird to me, how it just resolved itself and didn't make any difference. Momo seemed wholly unaffected by the whole ordeal and returned to the house all happy go lucky, after casually finishing her errands. Guess i just wanted some more gravitas to the situation or something when they made it feel like a real assault. Off to watch your two other reactions for Dandadan so i'm all catched up for when episode four drops.

Heyoooo! This summer has FLOWN BY! That’s awesome you’ve enjoyed summer it seems - this has been a good summer, but it’s going by far too fast for my liking - something about getting old and time passing quicker? Not a fan of that. I would agree that I like the second ED better than season 1 - I definitely prefer OP 1 but this one is fun! I’m glad that Okarun’s practice has paid off - hooray for growth for our dude! The show’s already ran through my favorite cryptid (Nessie in Season 1) but that’s awesome! Oohhhhh, I bet in hindsight that the comment was flagged for pointing it out! That’s likely it! It’s definitely menacing in this episode but yeah, that is a really good point - her not reacting at all is…well…not realistic - but anyway, at least it didn’t get as overdone as it could have been – but thank you for joining back this season! I’m really enjoying it so far! Thanks for all the comments!

They do seem to go by quicker and quicker don't they. Yeah, it was a slow start summer here but the last couple of weeks have had quite a bit of nice weather so been enjoying it with family. Let's hope for a continued good summer and many more fun and weird episodes of Dandadan.

Yesss, the majority of summer was SO HUMID and hot where I live that I've been stuck inside but it's finally cooled down a bit, so that's good! I'm excited to see where DanDaDan takes us, so thank you!!
