**STARTING LINE HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

WHAT A SEASON FINALE! I was a feral fangirl as we got things wrapped up quite nicely after the Stronghold battle; the fates of everyone have been revealed, we got to see a baby (yay), and more importantly -- our patience is rewarded with a FEAST OF JINMAO! *screams*

This season was so fantastic and after watching Apothecary Diaries week to week for a YEAR, the hiatus is going to be HARD -- but I am so excited for season 3 and you know I'll be there for it!

I get what you say about life not being fair. I know it fairly well. I just don't enjoy watching many shows where it mirrors too much. The few anime I watch where it shows how life is unfair and dark, I never watch those anime a second time. I even consider one of those a master piece anime, and recommend it. My brother wanted to watch it with me but I told him, "I recommended that anime, but I will never watch it again". He felt the same about the anime after watching it. I just not a big fan of tragedies and doubt that will change after 52 years of life lol. Back to the Apothecary Diaries, A few thoughts about the surviving members of the Shi Clan: Shisui - I was wrong and it was the pin which saved her life. In a way, her end is still sad, but not tragic. She has to leave everyone she loves and cares about behind for good (most likely). But, she is also free. It's kind of bittersweet. It is also a little cliche, but it fits how the character's story was done. Everything about her was fake as Loulan, so why shouldn't hear death be fake? Suirei - I love the scene where she is brought to the tent to help with Maomao. When she is brought up. she looks like her world has ended and there is no life in her face or even how she is standing. When Jinshi tells her what she was brought for, her face lights up. It's like she had been thrown a lifeline. I am with you in finding how the children were handled as about as good as them surviving could be handled. Ah Duo was the perfect person to end up as their guardian. Such a motherly person who finally gets a chance to be a mother. I like how Chou-u was handled too. He will be a little fun spice to annoy Jinshi (maybe call it "Frog-Blocking" when he interferes? haha) I enjoyed season 2 a little more than 1, but its not a huge difference. Overall, there was little I did not enjoy about both seasons. Anyways, I plan to post a little on discord later too. I know I will be posting about a different anime you are watching soon!

I, personally, am totally okay with children being alive - from my perspective it was very predictable and suited everything that Shisui did and said and whole plot with resurection potion. It was a good pay-off to this plotline. The only thing I think I would change it would be that not all children would wake up - I would maybe make more children (like, I don't know, seven) "die" and only like maybe 4 of them wake up from this. I think it would high the stakes more. I also have mixed opinions about Shisui living - I get why she lived and what author did with her it just was... I don't know, kind of forced in my opinion, I think I would took it better if it was more foreshadowed or we would see Shisui actually took a preparation to safe her living up through this. She was shoot in the arm and fell of from a fortress and a small, thin hairpin was ideally in a place to take a bullet. It was just a little too unbelievable for this story. I would prefer if we could see her acrually putting a plate under her clothes or if the fortress wasn't that high or something. There was, for me, a little bit TOO much luck there, even if Shisui is one of my favourite characters and I would love to see her more. By this scene is really hard to say what she thought about selling the hairpin. Maybe she wanted to leave everything about this country behind? Maybe she didn't want someone to see the hairpin and relate her to the royal family or something? Maybe she thought that that hairpin in the end will end in Maomao hands if she sells it there? I don't know. There really was no clues in this scene from my perspective.

I think I get what you meant in the last video now, and agree with you in your discussion here. I enjoyed seeing the kids get to live here, and A-Duo taking them in is just perfect, but seeing that Shisui survived made me feel weirdly cheated. The choice of the cicada is interesting though. Cicada’s are one of those insects that climb up somewhere, shed their old shell, and fly away right? So maybe Shisui picked that in particular for trading the hair stick because that’s essentially what she did last episode. She shed the skin of her old life and is flying off to live a new one. On the subject of A-Duo though, I hope we get to see her and the kids in an upcoming season. Suirei too. I think getting to have a mother figure like A-Duo could go a long way in healing her trauma. I’m also hoping we get at least a cameo appearance by Xioulan. Maybe MaoMao will be called in to help solve a mystery at her new workplace and they’ll get to say Hi to each other. We can dream right? Thanks for sharing the joke about the red and green flags! I’m definitely going to have to share that one! Thanks so much all your videos and going on this journey with us!

The final episode done! Now I can discuss what I wrote on episode 21, my theory at the time! I almost went ahead last episode but am glad I waited one more! My theory right at episode 21 was the kids didn't die due to the resurrection medicine, and Shisui would be able to not get punished somehow or at least she would remain close to Maomao, because the kids were all fine and not dead. I didn't want to put it out there to lessen any reactions down the road though! And I thought in episodes 22 and 23 I got it all wrong and the kids were actually dead, and the show was much darker than I expected, but now I see that's not the case. They certainly did allude a few times that Maomao had a job to perform still when the kids were "dead" so that played in to my guess too. But it would have been a lot less cheap feeling to me if Shisui didn't miraculously survive being shot, and a few of the kids didn't recover. Enjoyed hearing the reaction and discussion, and yes, the Jinmao encounters were SERVING! 💖 🍽️ The hairpin getting out of Maomao's hands went over way better than expected, agreed. I liked JJK being brought up as one of the examples along with Madoka <3, but I am skeptical of Nobara's death in JJK. I feel like they may fall victim to the same trap and bring her back - but we'll see. Absolutely no knowledge of anything besides the anime, so wild speculation based on the dialog that occurs to ease Itadori's mind at the time of the events. Haha @ the fiefa accuracy comments - I wonder which would be more accurate - a futuristic blaster gun from Star Wars or an ancient undeveloped technology based fiefa? I really do feel like I'd rather be placed in front of the storm trooper shooting the blaster than the very inaccurate fiefa! It's going to be strange not having Apothecary Diaries reactions for a while! Thanks for making them such a fun time, and I'm going to still be waiting for Season 3 to see if the eluded threat from Season 1 of Maomao requesting Jinshi poison her to death when he is required to carry out such a sentence becomes a looming possibility!

Be Happy

What a finale Jinmao nation was well and alive and thriving this episode Jinshi is now free of the secrecy burden so he can be himself at least in front of MaoMao But beware Jinshi, you may be Ka Zuigetsu but her papa is a ruthless man.. just saying 😂😂😂 The kids surviving was a good conclusion especially with Suirei talking about it several times, discussing the recipe, the side effects , etc.. so I find it correct and fair that they represent innocence and their innocence has been reborn with them .. Now the elephant in the room, Shisui .. honestly I would have prefered if she. Stayed dead because it would have made her exit very impactful.. but nonetheless it was an impactful exit as Loulan and it doesn’t bother me that she is alive Imo Shisui selling the hairpin was her way to tell MaoMao’s she is alive . Loulan didn’t tell MaoMao about the resurrection medicine possibly because she wasn’t sure the resurrection medicine was a 100% reliable They pointed out many time that it’s under research and experimentation so imo Loulan didn’t want to give MaoMao a hope that will eventually lead to nothing in case the kids did in fact died. MaoMao d have felt guilty and blamed herself for not being good enough to help them , whereas this way she was better for her In my eyes Loulan protected MaoMao till the end !!! Thank you for a whole delicious year with your Apothecary reactions and discussions Now we ll wait for season 3 that it was confirmed 🩷

Oh yeah, I feel we all get that - and honestly, I am 100% a “happy ending, please” person - I just felt with Loulan, it was set up so perfectly and to me - my opinion only - her living and running away to never be seen again just makes her dance a little less impactful. But those are just my thoughts, as you all have your own. 🙂 As I said in the discussion - I am fully aware of all the little nice bows and cherries on top that Loulan’s story has from start to finish (as an English teacher, I can tell you it’s TEXTBOOK symbolic full circling) but it’s also…dare I say? Predictable? That’s the vibe I got - the moment I realized she could live, I was like, “Ah, yet another one” because it’s a trope that’s all too familiar to me and I was hoping the series would do something daring and unique. But I’m not saying it’s “bad,” it’s very well done and I don’t diss anyone that likes it - you all just now know my thoughts on it. ^^ SuiRei, on the other hand, has been such a pleasant twist and surprise as a character and I’m excited she’s allowed to remain in the same world as Maomao and Jinshi and I’m excited to see where her character goes from here! And the children were handled really well in this episode, so no complaints there from me. And Chou-u is definitely going to FROG BLOCk for sure, hahaha!! I love Season 1 and 2 almost equally - I think Season 2 had more stakes and more drama and the last episode with JinMao developing more made me like it a little more than season 1, but yessss, I am so excited to watch the chibi shorts now and to get to season 3 but also, YES, so many good series yet to come! Thank you so much for the comment!

romaniablack

Thank you for the comment and kind words! I don’t think anyone has to necessarily agree with me; I just wanted to make sure I was articulating my opinion as well as I could! I appreciate you sharing your opinions, too! The picking of the cicada makes a lot of sense for Shisui, though - it ties into her love of insects and the symbolism is there and on point, like I noted in the discussion. I am excited to see hopefully more of Suirei and Ah-Duo in future seasons! It has me excited for what those characters could do in the series down the road! And yes, if Xiaolan could make an appearance again - your scenario is literally what I talked about in the discussion, so we’ll see if that happens! Thank you for the comment and kind words! And for joining me on this series! Now, to get to those chibi shorts while I wait on season 3! 😀

romaniablack

Oh yeah, I agree - I thought in the end, the decision with the kids was a good one – that’s SUPER interesting about some of the kids not waking up - that would have been VERY interesting!! I agree with you that it’s a mixed bag - I appreciate the symbolism and what it represents for MaoMao - but it does feel like a forced survival, too. Oohhhh, if she’d thought she was going to die and then lived with the set up you showed…that could have been interesting – or like you said, if we’d seen her planning from the start, that could have been cool, too! The “too much luck” idea is something I can totally agree with, too! I did end up really liking her character - I fear this ending means we may not see her in the future, but who knows with Apothecary Diaries! Anything is possible! I do like that idea that maybe she wanted to leave all of her old life behind, her, though. That could be! Thank you for offering that perspective and your comment - that made me think!

LoreleiS

I feel for MaoMao that her friends are separated from her. I love that Xiolian was given the a chance to say goodbye because of the gift of learning given by Jinishi and MaoMao. I do wish Shisui ending was a little more ambiguous. I adore kinky JinMao.

romaniablack

I felt sorry for her as well - I love that Xiaolan has a good future it seems ahead of her and was able to have that gift to write - that's so great - I hadn't even thought about that! But yeah, a more ambiguous Shisui ending may have been better, I agree -- although, give me kinky JinMao all day long! Thank you for the comment!

romaniablack

WHAT a finale, indeed! My JinMao heart was very full and satisfied by this episode! I think that’s a great point that Jinshi is free from having to keep himself in secret around MaoMao - he really struggled with that this season so I’m glad that burden is off of him, but hahaha…his kinky side coming out - let’s NOT forget that her biological dad is Lakan! 😛 I was happy with the kids’ storyline concluding the way that it did for sure! It all connected back in a really great way and I was pleased with that and with the possibilities that Ah-Duo and Suirei now being together has opening up - I feel Ah-Duo will be a MUCH better foster mom than Shenmei, no doubt! Ahahaha, the elephant in the room with Shisui…hoo boy, haha! I feel that the dance scene and everything is still really good, it’s just…not AS good to me if she’d died, but it is what it is and doesn’t diminish my love of the series as a whole. I agree, her selling the hairpin was a way to tell MaoMao she’s alive…I just could see it having been done in a different way more effectively, but I’m not the author, so what do I know! XD Her not telling MaoMao about the resurrection medicine because it wasn’t reliable DOES tie into that conjecture angle of it, so I could see that. That’s a very fair point, so I get your angle on that 100%. Thank you for the kind words and comment and moderating this series SO MUCH – ahh, it’s going to be really hard to not have Apothecary Diaries in my life week to week until season 3, but if the Stronghold has taught us anything, it’s that absence makes the heart grow fonder, eh?

romaniablack

Oohhh, thank you for tying back to Episode 21 and theory time! That makes me so happy to be able to read it now! I was happy with the kids living in this final episode and that it all tied together really well with hints from previous episodes. Someone had noted that it may have been more realistic if a kid or two didn’t make it back, and I agree with that, and about Shisui. But I’m not mad at Shisui living overall, and it doesn’t take away from my love of the series, so it is what it is. Thank you for the kind words and comment! We were FED SO WELL by the JinMao in this episode and I was living! Thank you so much for following with me - and YES, we’ve been watching week to week for almost a YEAR - it’s going to feel so weird without this series to look to - I really am curious if the “poison to death” is going to be a punishment…or turn into something…more romantic/kinky for them in the future, because with how good of terms she is with the entire royal family now compared to her own thoughts in season 1, I can’t see them actively punishing her any time soon! But we shall see!

L Freya

Good point about MaoMao being on the entire royal family's good side! She does have herself well positioned now, for Jinshi to not have to live out his worst nightmare! :)

romaniablack

I think Jinshi's nightmare has transformed from "Don't let MaoMao Die" to "Let me have this romance with her without being frog blocked!" :P
