Tbh now as I'm watching this series it reminds me a lot of Mitsuba and Kou from Hanako. Both Yoshiki and Kou had to realize that no 3 Mitsuba and "Hikaru" are not Sosuke Mitsuba and Hikaru they knew. Och god I'm a sucker for this trope every time.

Well! What an episode! It reminds me of several horror movies and books I’ve read or watched in my lifetime. I’m talking about the bodily penetration of plasma from Hikaru to Yoshiki. When I first saw this, I was reminded of a book I read back in the 90’s called Firefly by Piers Anthony. It’s a book that left an impression on me for sure! If you read the good reads reviews, it isn’t kind to this book at all. To summarize the horror in the book briefly, an alien slug monster immobilizes and devours its victims from the inside out. It does this by entering the “food” by any orifice it could. The victim feels pleasure as they die. This book gets lots of 1 star reviews. It’s a weird book and surprisingly, I still have it. There is a movie I saw when I was a kid, it scared me a lot! It was a b movie from the 50’s. I have tried to find it over the years and have not been able to. It was another alien organism that looked like tv static. It could touch you or get on your food. If it got inside you, it ate you from the inside out. What was left was an empty set of clothes. I wish I could find the name of this movie! Of course there is the blob, that scared me as well. My babysitter was watching it, the one with Steve McQueen. I hid behind the couch! Hahahah! Then there is Invasion of the Body Snatchers. An invasive organism copies and ingest the original. A bit different, but a classic horror movie. Despite these movies scaring me when I was a kid, I loved them. It was a roller coaster ride for me. Don’t get me started on parasitic organisms that exist in nature! So, you covered this in the reaction, that invasion is a sort of rape of Yoshiki. That shoe flying off, it takes some force to do that. Of course you also covered why you will forgive Hikaru’s attack, and I agree! I believe Hikaru was about to kill Yoshiki, but he couldn’t do it because he needed him that much. He was truly remorseful. I loved the symbolism of the sunflower you covered! It’s very interesting what humans pin significance to. I think my favorite flowers are peonies and hydrangeas. I just like how they look, very rounded and they need cooler climates to bloom. Wishful thinking I guess, it’s too damn hot here! Man, I did hear that storm in the background! That is loud! I think Rie is interesting. I hope she is Dance Team for Life! I think you nailed that parfait as well! What a monster! Hahaha I’ve had shaved ice that extravagant. Once we went to this Korean shaved ice shop and they put a whole slice of cake on top of it! It was grand! I too now have to wait a week for the next installment!

In a lot of ways, this episode was one big ‘OOF’ I too wondered about the handprint. Did no one comment on it or get worried about it? Did his parents not notice? Did his parents or others notice and ask but were easily dissuaded from looking into it further? Or if the bruise/mark has some level of supernatural power in it, can others not see it? The possibilities and their implications haunt me… I would not have guessed the horse girl game and this were related! I just watched your reaction to Odd Taxi ep 4 a couple days ago and now I’m wondering if Tanaka’s money ended up funding a BL horror anime 😂 I really enjoyed your reaction and discussion! I’ve scene other people interpret the scene as a forced kiss. I think thats if we’re not taking the scene at face value a forced kiss is a reasonable interpretation.

I can ABSOLUTELY see it as a "forced kiss" when "Hikaru" is on top of Yoshiki - I think it's a very reasonable interpretation as well! Thank you for the comment! :D

Thank you so much for the comment and the kind words! This episode was an OFF of one for sure! The hand print is interesting - I feel no one has noticed it or thinks it’s anything more than a bruise but yeah, I’m curious to see where that’s going to take us. Especially with Rie talking about the whole “mixing” thing going on, but we shall see, I guess! And AHAHAHAHA - is it not WILD that there’s a coincidence with Odd Taxi episode 4 and this around the same time!? Insane! I do think that yes, Tanaka’s money went into funding this BL horror anime and I am 100% supportive of that! :D Thanks again for the support and the comment!

This episode was sooooo good! I have heard of Firefly, so that’s fun! The premise of it sounds insane! Hopefully, Hikaru doesn’t kill Yoshiki, though! We shall see, I guess! ;) That B movie from the 50’s also sounds terrifying! A lot of food made in this show and a lot of ties to horror, like with the watermelon, so that’s interesting! But yes, I did think of The Blob in that classroom scene as well! Such a freaky movie as well! But yeah, MAJOR NOPE on parasitic organisms - THAT is where I get too scared, hahaha!! Thank you for that analysis of the classroom scene - definitely bringing that up in the future! I LOVE roses, sunflowers, and baby’s breath together – tiger lilies (or just lilies in general) are beautiful too! I wish I had a more green thumb or I’d have a whole garden of them - maybe something to work on – also, YES! Luckily, it wasn’t a severe storm, just one with some loud thunder! The connection to Donnie Darko, what a wild film, is great as well! Thank you for the links, as well! I want Rie to be an ally as well, hopefully she will be once we get her full story and she gets the full story with these two! There are those “monster milkshakes” here in the midwest at some restaurants - it’s so rich! I’m not a bloody mary fan but I will go with friends to a bloody mary bar and eat the food you’re supposed to have with it haha!! I’m a massive foodie, so I will talk food any day! I love this show doesn’t shy away from the food symbolism/talk as well!
