It's the season finale and have I mentioned I love Kinta? Our adorkable new character takes the reigns and takes on the Kaiju to help the others save the city! But what lies beneath with this kaiju and what will it mean for our crew as we await Season 3?

This was a fantastic and emotion-heightening season finale that definitely has me curious what this series will bring to us in the future! Thanks for watching this season with me - now the hiatus begins!

The cliffhanger is not the kiss, no, it's the unintentional death of Aira by Momo when she exploded the house with Aira still inside! 💥 Hearing the issues you might have with a show, particularly the writing comes across to me as very informed, I don't mind at all, even if I love the show. I totally get wanting it to be better because you love it so much too, like with Jiji, I definitely want him to have better treatment - treatment which doesn't have me going down the path of my most devious comment to date - it's all an attempt to say I hope they turn his character around for the show! I want more for Evil Eye / Jiji! And on a devious tangent, I just started your Evangelion reactions and discussions, I'm so excited for the discussions!! Episode 1 underway. I know where that train is going, and it's definitely not Pleasantville! The whole space dimension does feel SAFE. 🦺 Yes, there's no damages because the fights take place in a mirror of the setting, conveniently without any people (yet the entire cast makes it in). No risk, no reward, all very safe, no stakes... I agree. Look at JJK, which did the concept much better IMO, with domain expansions. Unique to each character, very, very deadly (Likely someone dies when brought inside one), and in some cases, where the domain is the same as the world - damages are indeed real, with consequences. But I guess different vibes, which is cool too. Not everything needs to be the same of course! My thoughts on the harem ending, with Aira, Momo and alien girl all pining for Okarun - yeah, no thanks! This is 2025, for sure! I am 100% (still guessing though, haha) sure they will pull something out S3, like the whole kissing absorbs the language which apparently is a thing in another show, but I don't remember what that was. But you know what? If that's it, why not just have her kiss Aira to learn, or Kinta? Both would leave Momo and Okarun shocked and would have been great choices with less of a cliched trope love triangle. That's about it for now for DanDaDan! That was such a great season finale. Look, the moment I realied that Okarun had been ejected from the mecha (even though I later realized he ejected himself because that didn't register at first xD) I was a bit disappointed. I had come into this episode expecting to see them all figure out how to move the mecha and make it fight the kaiju; and then Evil Eye went and got himself ejected as well. But, honestly, I enjoyed the fight a lot with how it went down. Especially when we see that the mecha can use the abilities of its pilots. Now, all I can think about is Okarun actually staying inside the mecha and adding his speed to the mix of Momo's psychic powers and Aira's hair. That was such a cool moment, and it has the potential to be even cooler. I found myself thinking, on more than one occassion, that Evil Eye was rather cute, and Jiji too when his time came to be on screen, through this episode, and I was baffled. After all, why should his actions now seem rather cute when before they have done nothing but annoyed me? And I think the reason is because I enjoy Jiji/Evil Eye best when he is not the center of attention and he's just doing something in the background, quietly, and without me needing to actually interact with him. Which, really is sad for his character, but that is truly the only reason I can stomach him because he is so much of a caricature most of the time. And the frustrating part is that we have seen Jiji be caring and, if not serious focus and dependable; we KNOW he has it in him, but the mangaka just won't allow us to see it. You know what? When you brough up the pairing of Aira and Kinta last episode I was floored by how right it felt to me, and after watching this episode that feeling has only increased. I mean, he clearly believes he's the main character much like Aira does, and that might be a very bonding thing for the both of them. As much as I don't want to, the elephant in the room needs to be addressed, and that is that cliffhanger of an ending. I gasped so loud when I saw it, and my first thought was that the alien girl was toast because Aira will kill her if she evers finds out xD Honestly, I truly hope that this alien girl isn't another Okarun fan; because, yeah, that would too tiring when we already have Momo and Aira. Gosh, I can't believed that we won't hear the OP and ED anymore. They're such bangers.

What a fun season of Dandadan this was!! I think overall I enjoyed all three arcs the Haunted house arc the Evil Eye arc and this last arc. I enjoyed getting to see alot more of Jiji, meeting Kinta and getting more romantic development for Momokarun. In terms of your first criticism that was brought up while I think the decision to have safe writing is a valid criticism in my own opinion Dandadan really wouldn't be the show that it is if these high school kids had to worry about collateral damage and saving thousands of lives from being smashed by a kaijuu. It would be an entirely different show if those kinds of stakes were involved. The closest they had to worry about saving a physical space was at the start of the show with the village when the volcano erupted and that took alot out of the characters for example Momo and Manjiro while having to fight at the same time. If there is one thing that is consistent about Dandadan which I appreciate is that even though Momo and the rest has powers they are high school kids that have powers and they cant just tap into random abilities that havent been set up by the show or have unlimited stamina and therefore there are reasonable limitations. While good writing is important to me it also has to fit the tone of the show and I think alot of the mechanisms the mangaka has thought up helps the show to not go into morbidly gut wrenching dark areas outside of the backstories. I also wanted to point out that there are several details throughout the season that are anime only scenes some are hit and miss 1) Okarun turning into Turbo granny in episode 1 as he confronts Jiji 2) Kinta being inserted into Momo and Okarun's flashback that entire extra context was not in the manga 3) Aira getting more time to shine during the kaijuu battle in episode 11 as she gets knocked down very quickly in the manga and 4) the handholding scene taking place in the tunnel in episode 5 of this season I think the first two details feels very off for the show while three and four are details that made those scenes way better. I still think Kinta having an Ive been here all along montage was funny but still unnecessary. Momo running through the house is also anime only and some funny details is that while she is running there is some writing on the walls and one of them is done by Aira saying Aira Takakura - of course Aira would try to sneak that in. I think despite how polarizing it is after seeing how season 2 has turned out I still think the writing went in the right direction for Evil Eye/Jiji and Im looking forward to season 3 to see what more we get of Jiji and how Evil Eye is handled amongst getting more of Okarun and Momo and even this new girl. I guess RIP Aira we joke but Im looking forward to more of her as well. I love the callback to episode 1 in season 1 with the explosion in the background I guess that's why they really wanted to end there for now. I love how Dandadan can take two panels or even one panel of backstory and incorporate with so much heart. It was done brilliantly with Acro Silky and now for Kinta. I love him so much and I agree he's such an underdog that you want to root for him. I still will need more episodes with him before he becomes more of a favorite for me like Aira or Jiji but regardless I love his energy and passion for SciFi. This was a fun season and next week or so a new show. Now we wait I enjoyed the discussions even if I didnt agree with all of them and got some interesting insights into shounen as a non-shounen watcher.

All this destruction without stakes does remind me a bit of Zack Snyder and all the destruction in Man of Steel and people complaining that the film didn't really handle it with the care it needed and how Zack in a later film just had the film point out that "hey, there are no people in this town now we can destroy it without complaints", dude, you missed the point of the criticism. Not saying that i compare DanDaDan to the works of Zack Snyder (although i did like 300 where is brand of "over the topness" fits), and i only mean the very smallest of offence to anyone liking Zack Snyders work. :P Hey, if Friends had a character pee on another i'm sure DanDaDan could get away with it, and with peeing on a jellyfish sting just being all myth and will infact just make it worse, here in contrast it might actually do some good... why are we talking about this again? Was needling you a bit about this ending in the comments on last episode and considered doing it some more here, but i might just wait that year before i dare to. :P

SUCH a fun season; I totally agree! The arcs were a lot of fun and I loved the character development we got throughout it! Getting Kinta as a new character was a stand out to me for sure! And the romantic development of MomoKarun is DEFINITELY my favorite in the whole season! We progressed! Well…up until the very end, hahahaha! I’m not opposed to the “safe choice” in writing - it’s fine, I just had to adjust my sights after realizing that. But it’s not a deal breaker in this show for me. 😀 I do appreciate the set up of the characters’ abilities, like you said, and how it makes sense and flows really naturally and doesn’t have “unlimited stamina” or something like that. The actions usually have a reason behind them, which I appreciate. Thanks for the anime only information in this! I won’t complain about any extra character work added, haha!! Honestly, I did develop a softer spot for EE after the last few episodes and I’m genuinely interested in seeing how Season 3 handles him in the story! And as long as the new girl isn’t just an unnecessary love triangle insert, I am looking forward to seeing development with her, too! The callback to episode 1 was fun (RIP Aira, though), and it makes sense they wanted to end it there to be a “full circle” moment. I get it. It’s going to be a bit of a wait, but I’m okay doing that if the season is as high quality as these first two have been! Thank you so much for the comment and kind words! It’s been a fun ride!

Hahaha, poor Aira - RIP!! XD Thank you for your kind words and I am totally with you in wanting more for Jiji! Maybe Evil Eye and Jiji can coordinate together - we shall see! But ooohhhhhh NGE is NOT a safe show and I cannot wait to see what you think about it, hahaha! It’s a show I really enjoy so I hope you enjoy my takes on it! Haha!! “Not Pleasantville” is an understatement! I agree on the JJK Domain Expansion bit - it’s definitely the difference in anime! And yeah, just need to adjust the sights for DDD in comparison! 😀 I agree - it’s probably just that she has to kiss to absorb the language, but Momo deserves better than a love triangle-bait moment. It was a great finale! I can totally see that thought about Okarun and EE not being involved; I did like Kinta getting to shine and Aira and Momo as well in helping him! But yeah, If Okarun had stayed, it could have been that much more epic and cooler; agreed! That is such a great point about EE/Jiji being a cute side character and comic relief and not at the forefront - I so can agree with that! I am sad because I want Jiji (especially the Jiji we saw at the start of this season) come back and not just be flopping on the ground for laughs…but if that’s what we have to have…I guess we’ll take it for now. *shrugs* but I am SO with you on this characterization analysis. I am still on board with Aira x Kinta as a possible ship - that could be so fun, so I hope to see where it goes from here and hopefully season 3 expands on it! 😀 OOHHHH, You know?! I had not even THOUGHT about Aira’s reaction to the Alien Girl - maybe it’s better Momo blew her up in the house first! XD But yes, that cliffhanger! And yeah - hopefully the alien girl just wanted to “understand” so she kissed him because of course that’s how we’re going to have aliens learn a language…but if she’s just another add to the harem? Mehhhhh but yeah, I LOVED the OP and ED and will miss them a lot! Thank you for the comment and here’s to the hiatus until season 3!

Yesssss, thank youuuuu - I completely have been comparing it in my mind to Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel! I laughed out loud in Batman vs. Superman where they literally went to a location “with no people” to fight it out. So yeah, DanDaDan is WAAAY better than the Super Hero movies by Snyder (agree, I like 300 because the tone fits so well). HAHAHA – I forgot Friends had that as a plot line! So yeah…what are we talking about? Hahaha, yeah, I am already lukewarm from the piping hot I was at the end of this episode, so I’m sure by the time season 3 comes out, I’ll be ready to see just how they’ve baited us this whole time. ;) We’ll see where it goes! I'm sure it will go places no one can predict (well, unless they've read the manga :P). Now we just have to wait for... one year, two years? We do have season 2 of Frieren to look forward, just about 3 months away... unless google's AI have hallucinated again.

Hahaha, those manga readers definitely have the upper hand, there! But I'd imagine it'll probably be a year or two - but YES! Frieren Season 2 in January seems so close and yet so far away! I'm ready, though! :D

Yeah Frieren has certainly been one of my favourite shows in recent times. And apparently i haven't kept up on my anime news, as right after my last comment i saw that the new Spy X Family season started and that we are just a few days away from One-Punch Man season 3 (been waiting 6 years for that one) so those should carry me just fine until Frieren starts up again.

My brother is a OPM fan so he's happy about season 3 - I somewhat lost interest in Spy x Family's second part of season 1, but maybe I'll get back into it someday! In any case, there are some FANTASTIC shows on the channel to tide me over until Frieren season 2!

Yeah, it sure feels like Spy x Family is just spinning its wheels. but it still has enough good moments sprinkled in here and there that i can still watch it. It might need to switch things up soon though.
