*STARGAZING HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

It's the season finale and this has been quite the journey! I have SO Many thoughts about this finale: The good, the not-so-good, and the confounding, but overall I have always been happy to have ANY Trigun content thrown my way and this was no exception! Let's watch and talk about this one, y'all!

Definitely agree on capitalism harming art! too many great shows have been cancelled or not expanded on enough to be truly great just because they didn’t make as much money as hoped or didn’t sell enough toys or what have you. Didn’t expect Zazie/Milly ship but I’m here for it! Will def be checking ao3 for fics later! The Earth ships will probably have to make announcement to make it work though. “Please do not squish the giant bug, that is Milly Thompson’s emotional support worm” :P It does feel weird for our main characters to leave No Man’s land after everything that’s happened. But it does open us up for lots of new types of stories ! And maybe the flowers Vash is holding will function like the worm Milly has. Like taking a piece of Nai with him to see the galaxy. That would be sweet! I found the end of the Vash and Nai fight a bit confusing. Was Vash trying to get them to die together? Or was that meant to be a gate to whatever higher dimension all the other plants partially live on, like Nai was trying to make at the end of season 1? Like “let’s go join Tesla and the ghost plants!” type thing. I suppose the ‘both die’ explanation does make more sense with how Nai reacted but like you said it seems like a weird choice for Vash. It will be sad not to have more Trigun content to look forward to. In times like this, I turn to fanfiction! I’m sure there will be some interesting stories coming out in the wake of Stargaze ending. For anyone reading, I would also like to offer a couple stories I’ve really enjoyed from the Trigun fandom: https://archiveofourown.org/works/46462567/chapters/116986141 This is a fun crossover between Final Fantasy 7 and Trigun, which I bring up because I’m pretty sure a FF7 reference got made while watching Stargaze on here. https://archiveofourown.org/series/3628297 And this is a really well written twin role swap AU where, as one of the descriptions puts it, Nai gets dragged kicking and screaming into being humanity’s savior 😆

Loved the reaction and discussion! I cannot believe we’re, I guess, at the end of Trigun content for a very long time. 🥹 Can we have a movie of Vash going on more adventures with everyone? Pretty please. Various things I loved: The final conclusion of the main Knives/Vash theme as a battle theme is one of my absolute favourites Knives holding on, saying: “Don’t leave me!” and the whole entire melodrama of that final scene as they are on literal fire “Are you going to kill me again, Vash?” and overall the new Knives VA’s work was stellar, there’s this raspiness in the voice that is wonderful Tesla’s tiny hesitation before touching Vash’s hand and the stone-cold denial of Knives, damn 😆 The Zazie/Millie ship fully sailing! One thing I really love about Stargaze is the very clear difference in its approach to the overall core thesis of Trigun present in all the versions (“Let’s have faith in humanity”) and how that intersects with ideas of justice/punishment. I feel like Stargaze is much more interested in the work of “healing” rather than consequences being absolute, and I wonder if they really wanted to explore restorative justice vs the more punitive justice of Maximum. To me, Maximum often says that justice without loss is impossible and Stargaze says that justice without restoration is incomplete. I think we see this the most with how many of the characters survived to the end in Stargaze. Maximum very much made it feel like final punishment was doled out whether Vash wanted it or not, that maybe reform and mercy were possible emotionally but not actually, that forgiveness could be received but death would still come. Stargaze to me felt more like the reality of the continued burden of harm, so living with trauma and guilt and the consequences of past violence. Because I personally am pro-rehabilitation, this speaks to me, I like the fact that Stargaze’s approach to “salvation” is restorative and is a possibility of life with others. At the end of Stargaze, I still say that what they did with Hoppered the Gauntlet is leagues above everything else and one of my favourite things in all of Trigun! Which I still cannot fully believe! 😆 Especially since they also gave us a surviving Wolfwood! This full journey through all the various version of Trigun has been one of my favourites on your channel. 🥰 Thank you so much for sticking through the whole lot! I really loved the extra layers of comparative analysis which have been possible throughout the different series of discussions. And I look forward to revisiting these in the future when I rewatch Trigun content. Love and Peace! ❤️

Thank you so much for the fan fiction recommendations! That’s awesome! And yes - capitalism makes me sad when it comes to art – “Thanks, I hate it!” The Zazie/Milly ship getting its “wings” is such a revelation! Hahaha, I can’t imagine the PA announcements each day – “Milly Thompson’s emotional support worm” is HILARIOUS! I am fine in the end with them leaving the planet, and if Vash is taking “Nai” with him, that’s sweet, indeed! Just an interesting choice compared to the other adaptations. Vash: “This is my brother” while holding up a vase of geraniums. XD Yeaaaahhh…to me, it felt like Vash was offering to end both of their lives by going through the gate together to join the plants. Like, “If I can’t save the earth and you, I’m choosing to save the earth by being WITH you” sort of thing. It was an…ODD choice, given all Vash has done up until this point, but I’m actually glad with Nai’s horrified reaction. And with his choice after that. Honestly, I really will miss Trigun after these few years with it – but yes, that is what fan fiction and fan art is for, I suppose! Thank you for all the support and joining me with my Trigun journey! And thanks for the patience as I get to these comments!

Thank you! Glad you liked my jokes! ^.^ No worries about the wait time! I write some fanfic myself and I know how comments can pile up when life gets busy. Thanks for taking the time for us!

It’s SO bizarre thinking this might be the last we see of Vash and the gang for a while, and very sad to think about! :’) The melodrama of Knives pleading for Vash not to leave him as they’re on fire is WILD and his VA did such a great job with that scene – Tesla was also SAVAGE for their complete dismissal of Knives. You don’t get what you want, sir! I had no clue I’d be getting a Zazie/Millie ship out of all this, but I’m not mad about it! This series was MUCH more hopeful about humanity than other iterations, indeed. I also liked the avenue of “healing” it focused on – like you said, sometimes Trigun can feel a bit “Absolute” in its themes and tone. Ooohhh, Restorative Justice was Stargaze to Maximum’s Punitive Justice - LOVE THAT. I love that “without loss is impossible” vs. “without restoration is incomplete.” Beautifully written! *hugs page* I did appreciate Vash getting more agency in what happened at the end of this story than Maximum - where he struggled to have control of ANYTHING surrounding him (and that was part of the horror, true). I can see anyone that has the remote love of rehabilitation having this series speak to them through its offer of “salvation” as potential and restorative. Honestly, the Hoppered storyline was GREAT! Midvalley’s journey was interesting to me as well, and Wolfwood LIVING? Never thought I’d see the day! Ahh, thank you so MUCH for all the kind words! I really love when we get various adaptations, like with the MXTX danmei, etc. because it’s fun to see how the various adaptations handle certain concepts. In any case, I’m so glad you enjoyed them so much on the channel! That’s high praise, and Trigun will continue to be one of my favorite series on the channel! It’s Vash and crew - it has to be! LOVE AND PEACE! <3
