Im STILL waiting for them to give Sawamura an official nickname. The "young ace" is nice but its not cool enough. Ace on Fire is right there TJ! Give him Kataokas old nickname! Unfortunately Noris injury is quite common in pitchers. The elbow area of the pitching arm is often the first injury pitchers will get if its not their knee or ankle or something. Damn baseball elbow. Jealous Miyuki really is my bread and butter lol its so nice to see Sawamura get fawned over and Miyuki feeling weird about it because its usually the other way around. They both have these gangs of rivals that makes the other jealous lol. Koushuus idea of the country side is soooooo on brand for the rich kid he is. To him, all people in the farm lands or rural areas probably have no phones, no tv, no nothin. Amish country to him lol. I honestly do feel like Sawamura is a prodigy in his own right. Hes not a perfect pitcher and he did have to work at figuring it out but his ability to make the ball move is insane. He has a natural wrist ability that gives the rotation on the ball so much speed that it just breaks without him even trying. I think its nice to see the difference in how Koushuu and Miyuki trust Sawamura at this point. When he mentions adding a new pitch this close to the semis, Koushuu seems unsure and a little worried but Miyuki fully trusts that he has a vision for it and he knows what hes doing at least to an extent. I think if anyone else had brought this idea to Miyuki a day or 2 before the semi finals, hed call them crazy. But he knows Sawamura has matured and he knows he has a plan and trusts it. I love it. One of my favourite things about Kataoka as a coach is the way he ALWAYS steps in as batter to test Sawamura. He wants to be there to see every new pitch and to make sure hes ready and I love that. We dont see him do that for any other pitcher but always Sawamura. I dont know if you remember from season 1, but Tanba, other than the multiple injuries he had DURING the season, also was mentioned to have had an arm injury prior to Sawamura joining Seidou. And Chris is the one who caught it early and had him get it checked out. So the fact that Tanba did it for Nori is so full circle. He learned from Chris and has to teach Nori too. I think Miyuki was genuinely so triggered hearing Nori talk about how he wasnt going to play past high school and the way he calls out Miyuki for thinking everyone has that option. Miyuki has literally never even considered it, for himself nor for his teammates. This whole conversation definitely triggers that miscommunication scene later in my opinion. Anyways, a bit late on my comment this week BUT I got it in before the next episode lol.

I would LOVE to see Sawamura strutting with an awesome nickname! Do it, TJ! The elbow bears the brunt of so many sports injuries, doesn’t it? That sucks! Jealous Miyuki is such a wonder to see! We love to see our sunshine boy get so much praise and Miyuki “feeling weird about it” - SIR - I just want to nudge him towards Sawamura, but yes, these moments are so fun to watch play out! I forget that Koshu is a rich kid but it makes so much sense! Sawamura is NOT Amish, sir! XD And the idea that Sawamura is a prodigy with his wrist movement could make one misty-eyed…and rush back to the fan fiction! ;) #guttermind And seeing Miyuki’s trust in Sawamura was satisfying! <3 Kataoka testing Sawamura, showing his faith in him, is soooo good - I just love that he gets in the midst of it, as well. Tanba was just having a bad 3rd year, wasn’t he?! And then Chris and now Nori having injuries…oof. At least it is a full circle moment with them all and Sawamura getting praise from Tanba is so good. And yessss, Miyuki’s reaction to Nori was adapted well in this episode! And that’s a good point about it triggering the miscommunication later on…ugh…I just want him and Sawamura to talkkkkk ittttt ouuuutttt. Anyway, thank you so much for the comment! So excited for the new episode!

Hi Romania! Sorry for the delay! And I hope you don't mind me combining Episodes 3 & 4 with Episode 5. Like you, to be honest, I completely forgot about the quarterfinal matches. I also completely forgot about Kawakami's elbow injury (which I'll go into further detail below). But first, let's pour one out for Yakushi. It was all going well until Raichi's error. They really did a good job getting under Amahisa's skin. I think him trying to brush it off a 'aww, shucks, can't beat that' was all bravado. If it had been a year ago, he would have just walked away, but he has matured. The coach may have thrown that challenge at him (and I've never really thought about it, buy he's a good coach - still a Kunitomo and Raizo fan though), but Amahisa had already steeled himself. I think the coach knew that. And he gave an ace-worthy speech later on, toward the end of Episode 5. Speaking of Raizo, let's just ignore all the haters. Raizo may be living vicariously through Raichi a bit, but come on, Raichi loves baseball. You don't work that hard that happily for something you don't love. Back to the match, Amahisa not being forced off the mound is ultimately what doomed Yakushi, in my opinion. Raichi is a prodigy and force of nature, and Sanada is probably the ideal pitcher in the anime, but like you said, the rest of the team is not on Ichidaisan's level (although, with some of the big dogs graduating, there's still time to pull it off next year). But still, Raichi failing to reach the ball that was the walk-off run especially hurt, because it reminded me of Inashiro match last summer, where Jun just couldn't reach the ball before it landed. Like Jun, if he was just a little taller, he would have made it. I'm not really a Raichi/Sanada shipper, because Raichi is like a baseball monk to me, and it's hard to ship him with anyone, but Sanada is definitely staying in that family as an adopted son! There's no escape for him. :D Now, to my favorite scene from these two episodes: the cafeteria scene. I love that Nabe just casually brings it up, not understanding the hornets' nest he just stirred (or did he? :D). Now Miyuki knows he has *another* love rival. "So that's why you asked about gyros." XD But my favorite part was Kuramochi and Haruichi cornering Sawamura to spill the beans. Haruichi totally channeled Ryo there, scarily, and you know he helped get the phone! Then there's Okumura, just there watching Sawamura like a hawk. Your reaction to him saying "Amahisa, again?" in that exasperated manner made me legitimately laugh out loud. If we didn't know better, we'd have to assume Okumura is a troll. Of course, that just leads to Miyuki just looking forlornly back, wondering how many people he needs to be jealous of. They made his frown more pronounced in the anime, by the way; they know what they're doing! (And Wakana gets left on Read again...). And that leads into my next favorite moment, Sawamura strategizing and using pie charts! And using words like 'repertoire'! This is the kid who still couldn't grasp fractions back in Episode 2 of the entire series! It's Bizarro world or a body snatcher or something! And finally, about the series true villain and nemesis, the water bottle. I mentioned last year versus Inashiro up above, but this is turning into a repeat, what with Kawakami's and Zono's injuries. The whole situation with Kawakami, though, really burns me. Despite Tanba trying to talk sense into him and forcing him to report it, Kawakami's still trying to play. His little speech laden with attempted emotional manipulation, however unintentional (I'm sure it's all from the heart) actually made me angry. Maybe that's why I didn't remember any of it. And they way it's made to appear that the words are so inspirational just made it worse. I don't care. I don't care how this is Kawakami's last tournament. I don't care that he'll likely never play in a competitive match again afterward. There is nothing inspirational about risking your long-term health and potentially taking the team down with you. It's selfish. And it makes me angry that I don't remember how Kataoka responded, because I want him to make the right decision, but I have no faith in him (sorry, but you know how I feel about him). I hope he proves me wrong and keeps Kawakami on the bench. That being said, now I can move on and watch Episode 6, because I refused to let myself watch it until I finished this. Sorry this is so long. Take care, and see you next time!

Hey! No problem! I accidentally read episode 6’s comment first, so sorry it’s taken me a while to get back to this one! I don’t mind combining comments and never will turn away a long comment - have you heard me all ramble? Yeah, the quarterfinals matches were a surprise for me, but I did start to remember some details when folks were reminding me! Poor Yakushi – and it all being on Raichi just hurts all the more. 😢 That note on Raichi just needing to be a little taller – oof. Raichi strikes me as a short king. I don’t know if he’ll get taller, but we can hope for his outfielding. 😛 I do love Raizo as a coach and I don’t think he’s entirely living vicariously through Racihi – he still plays some ball on his own time. And yes, Raichi loves baseball possibly MORE than his own father. You know, I can totally get down with the dynamic of Raichi being baseball sexual and Sanada is just in a platonic relationship with him and being adopted. No escape AT. ALL. I ADORE the speech that Amahisa gets in Episode 5! Yes! I love the cafeteria scene as well! Nabe is DEVIOUS! Miyuki just being bugged about yet ANOTHER person after Sawamura. And YES, Haruichi channel his big brother! And then Okamura – he’s like Sawamura’s emotional support catcher hahaha – him and Itsuki could trade such woes! Glad that made you laugh out loud! The concept that both Miyuki and Sawamura are pondering who all they have to be jealous of/worry about! And yessss, I LOVE Sawamura strategizing – even using pie charts! BaBam! Our boy has come so far! XD He’s been hard at work these last two years! Maybe influenced by Miyuki and the others? The fact that this series’ legit nemesis is the WATER BOTTLE. I do feel your aggravation with Kawakami - especially with TANBA trying to talk sense into him! I definitely understand why Kawakami is so desperate, but I’m glad Kataoka realizes that it’s his desperation and it’s still a bad decision to let him play. He’s 100% being selfish in this and yeah, I agree with your thoughts on him – and poor Miyuki realizing that not everyone’s gonna have the option of going pro in the future. Thank you for the comment and never feel you have to apologize for a long comment!
