*TRASHED OUT HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

This episode has a lot of social commentary, a badass soundtrack, and some wild animation to get us off to a great start! I am already sympathizing with our awkward bean, Rudo, and feeling so sorry for his plight but so curious at the mystery surrounding his fate right off the bat! Let's get this series started!

What a nice thing to come home to, even if it's not the dub The graffiti art is amazing. The artist who does it is awesome. Old things developing a soul is an actual Japanese belief called Tsukumogami. They have festivals and rituals to 'sendoff' and old well-loved object. Hey, I've gotten a lot of stuff off the side of the road. I once found a nice bookshelf

I can't believe I'm commenting about Chiwa of all things, but as an attorney IRL, I'm just going to poke a little hole in the alleged alibi lol. There was technically time for Rudo to go home and kill Regto, also there was a brief moment the killer knocked him out adding a small amount of time to the murder window, he's covered in Regto's blood, and he has a known "criminal" reputation. That alibi ain't shit unfortunately haha. Not that any of that matters in the world of Gachiakuta where there's seemingly no due process - I just couldn't turn off my work brain there for a second and was activated like a sleeper cell when you said he had an alibi lol. In all seriousness, without spoilers, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised where the story goes and with the characters it follows and I'll leave it at that. Enjoy!

Thank you so much for the comment! I appreciate it and yesss, the graffiti art is so cool! That's super cool about that information on the souls in objects! Nice! And yesss, it's amazing what some will throw out that are truly "treasures!" Thank you for the comment!

An attorney?! That’s so awesome! That issss true that there was time for Rudo to technically get back and kill him after the conversation. That part with the killer knocking him out is true! I hadn’t thought of it that way – but yeah, no due process in this world, which is WILD. Ahahahaha, that is so funny about your “sleeper cell” attorney self being activated! XD Thank you for the comment - I am super excited to see where this series takes me, especially now that I’ve watched Episode 2 - I’m excited!

I also think the thing with Chiwa was very like rushed but I think its because its the first episode and it was there to create a background and a conflict and maybe the story was like using Chiwa to show something about the society they lived in. Like I think its very weird that they just straight up throw people in the pit without asking and a proper trial and it could be that people living in this world are so used to that working as a justice system that theyre a lot more judgmental that they would be in the same situation in our world? Something like that. I do not know how much of it is an actual buildup because I also just started the series but the talk about trash and segregation makes me think that there maybe more of social commentary in this series. At least I do hope so. There is also one thing I would love to comment about the system relating trash itself. I do not know how it works in other countries including america because im not american but in a lot of places you can't just. take trash or even touch trash. And its illegal to take home or eat things that are categorized as trash or things intended for utilisation, even if theyre perfectly fine to use or edible. I work at kindergarten now and we have to utilise CRAZY amount of food, and I'm not only talking about food from the kids plates that they didn't eat - its also a food that was an excess cooked for kids that never ended on their actual plates - its good food cooked this exact day and its straight up ILLEGAL for us to eat it or take it home so we could eat it home and gave it to someone. We are still taking it but we have to do it behind the backs of others and so the department of education in our city would never know because it would punish the kindergarten and we could lose our jobs or have to pay fine. It was the same when I worked in one of the biggest european company producing glutenfree food - there were tons, and i mean literal TONS of food that have to be utilised that could still be eated fine but because they were produced as samples or extras, there was anything wrong with packaging or wrapping, they were returns etc etc etc etc they have to go to utilisation because they couldnt be sold. And it was illegal to touch them and we have to take them also behind the backs of higher ups so the perfectly good food wouldnt be trashed. And so goes on. The garbage dumps are closed, even the garbage places on the city when you put your trash ale closed with keys and walls so noone would touch the trash outside of people that live there and that dump it there (who have the keys). The world we live in is straight up insane and I think this is what author was reffering to with what happened in the begginng of this episode. Thats an complex topic deeply rooted in dark era of capitalism - you can't just take something 100% fine and usable that someone left. You HAVE to BUY a new one.

Oh yeah, this first episode really throws you into the story and the worldbuilding without giving time to “explain” anything properly – and I get it’s a narrative choice and I’ve read series that do this type of set up – it’s not my favorite start of a story, but luckily (having watched Episode 2), once this story simmers down and doesn’t rush, it gets very good for me! So I am excited for episode 2! Ahhh, that is INTERESTING about not being able to “dumpster dive” in other countries! That is WILD – wow! I will say that is one thing about the U.S. – we waste way too much for my liking, but trash can be taken by others…it’s not…common, but we can send people home with excess food in some cases, not all. Restaurants and Schools have a process with “extra” food disposal, but there are people that raid dumpsters for things and it’s not considered…”illegal,” necessarily, just not ideal. And of course, it depends on if the dumpsters are in a private place, etc. It gets…complicated - why is trash complicated?! We do have recycling plants and some land fill/dump sites that are closed off to the public, but I did stay at an apartment (granted, 20 years ago) that many dumpster dived in before the trash trucks came…yeah, the dark era of capitalism as well! It’s definitely…gross when you think about it too much. Thank you for the comment and sharing your views on this!!
