So happy to be back for another arc of the anime! I don't think anyone else covers the episodes as thoroughly as you do, looking forward to each week's discussions, and I'm all caught up with the manga discussions as well, who knew Kite's late showing in the anime was totally opposite the first (or near first) page manga appearance! It's interesting to hear the discussion on how this anime doesn't really distinguish adults and children in the way we do - in many ways despite being hunters, young children are given the many responsibilities of full grown adults. Certainly sending six year old Killua to the arena alone where he could be killed at any moment is hard to morally agree with in our world - imagine a UFC where children could fight, that's 1,000% illegal. But for the Zoldyck family in Hunter X Hunter's world, the Heaven's Arena tower is just the PERFECT hands on summer camp (or daycare center until he got his own room)! And a summer camp that pays the Zoldyck family hundreds of millions while teaching their kindergarten-aged Killua to fight trained adults! What more could you ask from life? Maybe, I was wondering some types of karate would have young children who have been practicing since they were toddlers in matches against adults - but not even that happens - "tournaments strictly separate competitors by age, weight, and belt rank to ensure safety and fairness, primarily due to the massive physical disparity in size, bone density, and strength." Even sports would never mix junior high players with college or professional players, imagine a middle school football team against a professional football team! Perhaps the main child protagonists most closely resemble fictional superheroes more than anything else in our world?

Yay! Right!? So glad to be back and thank you so much for the kind words and support – I am so happy to dig deep into this series! OH WOW – you are caught up with the manga?! Super awesome – I will get there eventually! And yeah, Kite being there from the beginning in the manga…so wild! This world is quite dark when you think of how it doesn’t care if children get involved in the affairs of adults – Leorio and Kurapika seem to be the only paren–voices of reason in this. But that UFC comparison is spot on! Hey, at least they get a nice room and a stipend! Get that bank account set up, kids! The show definitely shows these kids as prodigies and above the “norm,” if anything! Thank you so much for the comment – so excited for this arc!
