*ALLIANCE-BUILDING HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

We're inching towards the ultimate climax of this mega series, as our heroes make a last-ditch effort to stop Yhwach, and Ichigo teams up with the two most unlikely (or maybe not) forces imaginable to help take down the usurper of the Soul King's throne!

NOTE: Hulu gave me GRIEF for this episode, so I'm going to hopefully have downloaded the last two to watch without interruption later this month.

Aizen never showed his shikai to Ichigo because he wanted someone who could compete with him. He also said to urahara that even after he has become a Transcended being he still values Urahara's intelligence. It may be that aizen sees Ichigo to be in the same realm of poweras him but below him and thus wanted to fight him without his shikai.

Robenson BADETTE

Ichigo never saw Aizen's shikai that's it really so he is not affected by the perfect hypnosis

Robenson BADETTE

I think that Toshiro can't keep the adult form because he told Byakuya : "I am almost at my limit" so when he is not longer in his bankai form he returned to his child form

Robenson BADETTE

The Tsukishima scene is weird yes and I guess it is to surprise the audience like : wtf happened rather than logic when normaly yes they could sense them coming...

Robenson BADETTE

Him being in the three worlds at the same time is to say like : I am one with the three worlds also we saw at the end before the end credit that he separate himself in 3 and he can do that now because he has the Soul King power and can merge the worlds since Ukitake is no longer countering that : but I mean the right arm will probably have an impact on Yhwach's defeat since Shunsui send it to Yhwach which was not in the manga.

2026-10-11 12:00 I mean, we can see that all of them are extremely exhausted. They were very closed to death's door, and none of them are able to fully stand up properly, as we later see even Ichigo fall over when he was running after Yhwach because he wasn't fully healed. On top of this, Yhwach has already used the final Auswählen on the rest of the Sternritter, which is something everyone in the Royal Palace directly witnessed, so none of them had any reason to expect other potential enemies to show up. So I think it makes sense that their guard would be lowered.

Amazing reaction as always, this was one of those episode reactions I've been patiently waiting for ever since you announced that you were doing Bleach. To clear up your confusion on Kyokasuigetsu basically: If we look at the whole conversation of Aizen and Ichigo in this episode the reason becomes clear as to why it doesn't work on Ichigo. As Aizen explains, he has always refrained from showing its release to Ichigo, which is the condition for the illusions to work on someone. Then why does it work on Yhwach? Because at the start of the war, Yhwach goes to meet with Aizen in Muken and that's when Aizen shows his Shikai release to him, altering his sense of time, which also saved Ichigo at the first invasion, at this point Yhwach had not awakened the Almighty meaning he could not have seen this beforehand. From this point on, Yhwach has been under Aizen's Shikai the whole time and when he finally faced him, there was no indication in his perception because every future he was seeing was already being altered by Aizen by an ability that had affected him well before in the past. As to why Aizen never showed his Shikai to Ichigo and kept it hidden from him all this time speaks to his main goal of fighting an opponent on equal grounds. If he had used Kyokasuigetsu on him, it would defeat that purpose entirely as his Shikai inherently ends the process of battle entirely and gives its user a tactical kill, hence he wished for other worldly powers from the Hogyoku to battle directly with Ichigo instead. But even that backfired on him, which is why his original desire of becoming a simple Shinigami resurfaced and it's why he's now able to fight *alongside* Ichigo and it's also why we see Aizen only use his base Shinigami techniques such as Shikai, Kido etc in this battle.

Loved the reaction and discussion! Can’t believe we’re all caught up and going to experience the rest together. 🥹 Between your videos and BeHappy's guidance/our watch-a-longs, I feel like I have gone on an extensive and expert Bleach Safari this whole year! 🤣 Getting to learn about all the things which have been adapted the same way or differently or had new content added or moments and storylines improved, etc – has been really amazing. And especially getting the context of your experience watching TYBW as someone who was specifically ‘in the trenches.’ 🫶 Soooo…. 😅 Over the past few days I have just binged all of these reactions/discussions and I’ve been making small notes about episode sets while watching, this will go a-ways back: 31-32: the corgi comparison was so hilarious, I now need a corgi!Bleach AU! 🤣 Most corgi like to me? Hiyori and Grimmjow! 🤣 33-34: Mayuri to me is a cat with a bell in that ridiculous outfit, I couldn’t help laughing every time he jingled as he moved 🤣; And I was here for the righteous defense of Hisagi! The show does treat him like a crash-test dummy 😭. 35-36: the advance warning of “It’s been a while since Romania has had a BL on the channel!” 🤣; I think visually episode 35 may currently hold my top spot for these last two cours and I loved the fight conceptually as it was simultaneously a children’s game, a theatre performance and a funeral ritual. Of course our beautiful drama queen’s bankai would have multiple acts. 🥰 37-38: Backstory of my darling Shunsui! 🥰 The way it was shown through Nanao's eyes was beautiful. I could write a whole essay about Shunsui’s kimono, but most of all I love the way he clearly does not feel the need to purge his femininity to enhance his masculinity, he doesn’t need to balance one ‘against’ the other and comfortably lets both exist in him.; Jugram and Bazz B as the angsty darlings was such a nice surprise for me in TYBW. 39-40: It is extra-extra fun to me in this set that it’s Umehara voicing Jugram… he also voiced Togame in S1 of Wind Breaker! And I think there are so many delicious parallels between them! Especially the way Umehara’s vocal performance changes when Jugram puts on the 'persona.' And both such tragic figures: Togame’s tragedy almost happens, and Jugram’s is that he followed through once he reached the same crossroads Togame had. We needed to book an appointment with Sakura to help punch some sense back into Jugram. 😭; The constant and ongoing Kon slander continues to give me life. 🤣 41-42: Predictable rant incoming: Yoruichi’s treatment here really pissed me off, just such pathetically targeted dehumanisation of an amazing character. To me personally, there’s a very clear line between fun fanservice (for male and female characters) and what she was subjected to here, which felt very vividly like ‘time to pay your rent, Yoruichi, come on, only so much badassery is allowed for someone like you.’ Rapey, trashy, tasteless, degrading, fucked up. And agree, it did not feel like mere ‘sexualisation,’ it very much came across like sexual humiliation. Blergh. /endrant Thank you for addressing this in the discussion! 🫶; The Jugram/Togame parallel returns with the whole ‘too far into it to be able to turn back’ that you talked about in the discussion! 43-44: Of all the things wrong with Yoo-hwa-bah-huh, he also takes discussion points! 😂 What a wanker. Your being So Completely Done with him is so fun. “Oh my God, make this man shut up!” And then “I bet to fucking differ!” 45: Stunning episode! Was great getting to see these moments for Orihime. 🥰 46: I love the way Uryu and Jugram’s conversation entirely demolishes Yhwach’s nonsense. In all the ways Yhwach says that his control of 'the destination' completely invalidates the journey, Uryu (and then Jugram) show that the act of choosing itself is what makes a life their own. And the beautiful tragedy of Uryu finally showing Jugram what could have been if he’d allowed attachment to outrank ‘the scales.’ 😭 47: Rip my eternal Shunsui/Jushiro heart out, why don’t you, show?! 😭 I continue to be in complete denial about Jushiro… No one ever dies in Bleach. Period. Full stop. 😭 48: Getting Tsukishima and Ginjo back was such a sweet moment! No one ever dies in Bleach. 😂 /end of episode notes Yhwach rant: To me, the fundamental issue with Yhwach is that his own conviction is delusional (that he thinks he ‘wants peace’ and then immediately jumps to the conclusion of ‘there’s no suffering if everyone’s dead! 😇’), and once that is uncovered there is really nothing else in there. The most proto-typical faulty logic of the ‘benevolent tyrant.’ Though to me watching all of TYBW in 2026 has also been interesting because we have a literal real-life example of this delusion playing out in the news currently: the accelerationist tech-bros who go on about AI as an existential threat and that they are, of course, the Only Ones who can save us all. So please give them all the money and all of the control, because they are so uniquely capable and therefore listening to their prattling is a moral necessity. /end rant To end on something much nicer. My darling, Shunsui! 🥰 I just adore his development and presentation in TYBW. And the way he shows maturity, his idealism being wounded but still surviving, his capability to make difficult and terrible decisions without pretending they are clean. Since Wind Breaker has come up before, I think Umemiya is such a sweet parallel to Shunsui! As the overwhelmingly powerful leaders who don’t feel any need to perform masculinity, understand that possessing strength does not mean their tenderness requires justification. 🥰 Amazing reactions, amazing discussions, thank you so much for continuing this journey! 🫶 Looking forward to the next episode! 🩷🤍

Be Happy

Thank you for this amazing comment 🥰 Binge watching the 3 cours with you and then week to week episodes of Cour 4 each saturday had been such a blast.. thank you for tolerating my endless blabbering about Bleach 😁🥰🥰🙏🏼

Be Happy

Congratulations for being caught up 🥳🥳 I completely agree with you about the sentiment of this episode being rushed.. the animation was a bit weird too in some sequences so i m glad the studio prefered to go on hiatus to work on the last 2 episodes quality than keep the schedule and give us animation that isn’t great Our lord and Savior? Is finally here.. i was absolutely delighted to see Aizen take on Ywhach and shit talk him, the Quincy was getting on my nerve shit talking everyone so he needed someone on a higher smack talk level 🤣 The absolutely iconic *welcome to my soul society* is my second favorite quote of the series behind *when were under the illusion …*…. Shunsui’s *using evil to fight evil isn’t in itself evil* closes the march at third 🥰 It’s just surreal to see this man stand up and try to stop a monstrosity, not from any sentimental of belonging angle, but just because Ywhach trying to recruit him was such an insult to his ego and also for the love of the game and I absolutely love this about Aizen… he is consistent, there is no redemption or remorse nor regret of what he did before, but having a Quincy Peacock trying to play God in front of him and admonishing him ? Nah, he crossed the line 🤣🤣 I m so normal about him 😛😛🤣 I agree about the Fullbringer moment being a bit weird. I get that it’s a re creation of Rukia stabbing Ichigo by surprise to give him his power back in the Fullbring arc, and that Yukio and Riruka went down to get them at the end of cour 3, but there is just something tiny missing for it to be perfect. Tsukishima having Erwin’s voice is just 🤌🏼🤌🏼 i love how your ears perked up instantly when you heard his voice 🥰🥰 Isane got shot by Lille in the soul king palace and i guess she is herself injured somewhere with Hisagi, her sister and Omeida. The Still Silver arrow was forshadowed very quickly when we saw Ryouken holding the still silver fragments in the palm of his hand in episode 26.. but i completely agree about the missed opportunity of mending the void between Uryu and his dad at that moment, that would have been amazing. Sure both are Tsunderes and not people that express their feelings but the moment was just too good and they didn’t seaze it 🥲 Well now that Ywhach multiplied and started becoming one with the three worlds let’s see how they will defeat that monster Great video and discussion as always

romaniablack

Yesss, I remember that with Aizen and Urahara's conversation (one of my favorites of the series) but I had forgotten about Aizen never showing Ichigo his shikai; thank you for the comment and clarifying that!

romaniablack

Thank you for noting that; I'd forgotten that he'd never seen it!

romaniablack

Yeah...I still don't think of Toshiro as a "child" in his regular self - man is hundreds of years old, but that's my own opinion of Kubo's "choices" with aging in Bleach.

romaniablack

Yeahhh, even if folks are tired, there really isn't an "excuse" for the execution of this scene except for what the readers give, hahaha!! There's no way their guard would be lowered for not only the floor to open up before them but ALSO for Tsukishima to just stroll up. I think it's okay to acknowledge flaws in the story while also still enjoying the story, but that's just me.

romaniablack

Sure, but I mean, they're too tired to notice Tsukishima strolling up casually, but they're "fit" enough to fight Yhwach to the death in an ultimate death match? It's fine if you think that; I was a Bleach apologist/defender for decades. and I'm still a big Bleach fan, but I think there are limits we can give Kubo benefit of the doubt without just admitting it's a plot hole and moving forward, but that's just my opinion. :D XD

romaniablack

I am definitely curious to see what we get with Mimihagi and the final Yhwach battle and how it's going to affect it! Thank you for all the comments! I'm excited for the final two episodes!

romaniablack

Thank you so much for the comment and kind words – That’s such a wait for a reaction; I hope I made it worth it! And thank you for explaining that with Yhwach – that makes sense with Aizen showing him in Muken - Aizen loves to play a long game! What a wild twist to set up, right? I do appreciate that Aizen respects Ichigo enough to want to fight him on equal terms; I’ve always found Ichigo and Aizen’s relationship, especially from Fake Karakura Town on to be so fascinating to read and break down, so thank you for the extra info on that!

romaniablack

Ahhhh, thank you so much for the kind words and comment - it’s WILD to be nearly to the end of the series! That is SO awesome that BeHappy has been doing watch-a-long’s with you – I love that! A Bleach Safari – I’m sure BeHappy was an expert tour guide! 😛Being “in the trenches” 15 years ago was a wild time, to be sure. And yay! Thank you for sharing the notes you’ve made over the episodes! Ohhh, Hiyor is for SURE a Corgi!! Grimmjow is super cat-coded, of course. Poor Hisagi – this man needs more love from the author. I will be remedying that “not a BL on the channel” sooooooonnnnnn *peers to next month* But Shunsui; I love him so much and his relationship with Nanao! Shunsui has so many layers to his character and all the symbolism with his wardrobe; it’s just so detailed. I just adore his character. And Jugram and Bazz B as our angsty ship! Oh wow, YES, the same voice for Jugram AND Togame – it all connects together, doesn’t? So many good parallels! I agree wholeheartedly with your comment, here! Sakura and Ichigo would likely be friends, wouldn’t they? And I’m SO GLAD someone else is for slandering Kon; cannot stand that perverted plushie. And I’m shaking hands with you so hard about Yoruichi’s treatment in 41-42. And yes, I’m so glad someone else sees how absolutely MESSED UP that scenario is; not cool, Kubo. Not cool. And yes, “So Completely Done” is my feelings with Ywhach 1000%. Episode 45 is probably the best in the arc so far and I just feel for Orihime; I love her so much! Uryu getting his flowers, especially against Jugram was so great! I just love their battle and how it’s been extended in this series. The way that Kubo tortures us with Shunsui and Juushiro – for a man that says he’s not for “romance,” he writes doomed yaoi really well. And seriously, if only the “no one dies in Bleach” could apply forever. Ahahahaha, if it works for Ginjou and Tsukishima, surely it’ll be there for Ukitake, right? RIGHT?! YES – *raises hands to the air* – That is my main thing with Yhwach; there’s just not much there once you figure him out. And yesssss – the connection to real life – the AI convo disturbs me so much…I’m glad you were able to express that here! Rants welcome! And yes, on a better note, Shunsui is getting development and I cannot wait to see what we get from these last two episodes with him and the others! And yesssss, I totally agree that Umemiya is a great parallel to Shunsui! I would love a crossover INSTANTLY with them! I agree; I love how Umemiya and Shunsui handle that masculinity conversation. Thank you so much for the kindness and the comment! I’m glad you have enjoyed the discussions and the reactions! <3 I’m excited for the last two episodes to come!

I disagree that Tsukishima simply "strolled up" to Ichigo. Tsukishima would want to get the drop on Ichigo because the last time they met, Ichigo wanted to murder him, so he would never trust Tsukishima enough to willingly be stabbed by him. Tsukishima has the "Bringer Light" ability that was able to make him so fast that Uryu couldn't even react in time back in the Fullbring Arc, so I don't see why he wouldn't have used that in this situation. It was established in Cour 3 Episode 6 that the whole idea around Yukio's Garganta was it was the perfect tool to launch an immediate surprise attack on Yhwach, as it allows the passengers to travel with their reishi being completely undetectable. The original plan was explicitly for Ichigo to use the Garganta to appear in front of Yhwach and attack him before he could react, but by that point, Yhwach had already completely restructured the Royal Palace, so they had to travel all the way to his new castle after arriving in the Royal Palace. So, in this episode, Tsukishima essentially did the thing that Ichigo was supposed to do to Yhwach last Cour, but it was done in a way to help Ichigo instead of defeat him. So with them being fatigued and having no good reason to expect any enemies showing up, and with Tsukishima having demonstrated his extreme speed in the Fullbring Arc, I really don't see how it seems unrealistic that Tsukishima would have been able to catch everyone off guard. I feel like my logic is perfectly sound here. I have never just blindly defended the story, but I feel like that's what you were implying.

romaniablack

Regardless of what abilities Tsukishima has; the panel just looks weird to me. The gap between Ichigo and Renji in that moment, etc. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and rationale, though. Thank you for the support.

romaniablack

Thank you! It’s feels good (and weird) to be caught up! Yeah, I’m glad that the animation team decided to work on the last 2 episodes to make them look worthy of a SERIES FINALE. Seeing Aizen was soooo good! “Welcome to MY Soul Society” – I just love that and seriously, “When were you under the illusion” is THE iconic villain line (aside from maybe some from Eren or Light Yagami). And honestly, Aizen’s reason being, “You can’t control me!” Is so perfect for him. *chef’s kiss* And yesss, Shunsui’s moral grayness was so interesting in this episode. I mean, are we ever normal about Bleach characters?! That is so true that it’s a recreation of that moment – maybe that’s why it strikes me odd, too – and the framing of Renji not being in frame is odd. In any case, Erwin’s VA voicing Tsukishima? Music to my earrrrrs! 😀 That’s right – dang, Lille taking these people out! Noooooo…. I was truly hoping that we’d get added content with Isshin and Ryuuken – so that was a disappointment that we didn’t get anything added with them. But interesting that it was foreshadowed! I DO remember that now that you pointed it out! And yeah, Yhwach wasn’t ENOUGH of a threat, now he’s spread out in the three worlds; I’m curious how this will work with the Silver Arrowhead, but hey! I guess we’ll find out! Thanks for the comment and kind words!
