Yue is Jinshi's legal name, as revealed in Season 2. And yes, to reiterate what you put on the board: that means there are 3 candidates for crown prince with both Gyokyo and Lihua's newborn sons and Jinshi as potential pieces in that conflict. Since the other two are too young, that means others will have to politic on their behalf. And that last line from the Emperor about Jinshi has me concerned. "I think it's time for Yue to choose a flower" can only mean Jinshi taking a concubine. I hope he chooses Maomao, but she is unofficially a legitimate daughter of the La clan so that could be......bad. especially with Lakan's eccentricities.

The world of the show definitely seems like it has opened up. Getting more into political intrigue and expanding the supporting cast. I didn't know what to expect going into this season. Even though it was unlikely, various TV shows have made me think they would somehow try to maintain the status quo of previous seasons and keep Jinshi in his original position. So, that was nice to see that they aren't doing that. In a way, the previous two seasons almost feel like the prologue with how this season is beginning. It feels like the show is getting into a larger story. My first thought was "Is that Opium?" when the mysterious woman handed that substance to the man at the beginning of the episode.

we get their ages at the start of some light novels, lishu is 16 now and jinshi is 20 and maomao is 19 also the author only just revealed their birthdays last month, jinshi is jan 1 and maomao is dec 31, they're exactly a year apart (cute)

The grasshopper to locust pipeline is a direct one. A certain type of grasshopper turns into a locust due to specific environmental factors...one of which is overpopulation. So a abundant grasshopper season can herald and locust plague the following year.

We are soo very back ❤️‍🔥 Missed my poison nerd and our pretty yearning prince Things are kicking off on an ominous note with the locusts threatening the harvests It’s so good to see Chou u is doing ok and living as a joyful kid with big sis maomao looking after him, and I also love that he discovered his own talent and is making money out of it. Smart kid Also Maomao thinking 4 times about Shusui this episode was very normal not like they had potential to be yuri or anything 😛 Awesome video and great start for the season Can’t wait for more ❤️

Yessss, I’m all for expanding on our characters and getting into the political intrigue, indeed! And yeah, I have NO CLUE where we are going! I agree; I talked about that right at the start of the discussion with seasons 1 and 2 seeming like a prologue to the rest of the series. And ahhh, I hadn’t thought about Opium; I might have to research that before the start of Episode 2! Thanks for the comment!

WE ARE SO BACK AND IT FEELS SO GOOD! I have missed these two fools! And yeah, what an ominous way to start the season! I really am happy that Chou-u is adjusting well with his new “big sis” MaoMao! And seriously, he IS smart; I hate that his previous events have somewhat robbed him of some of his autonomy (with his disability) and with his status that could have moved up higher in the political realm and that’s gone now. But still, I hope he can have a good life regardless - I’m curious what will happen with him in this season! Yeahhhh, MaoMao as a demi-bisexual….just….Jinshi, you have competition from even “beyond the grave,” sir. Bless him. Thank you for the comment and kind words! I’m SO happy we’re back!!
