The finale of season two, and it had EVERYTHING I could have wanted! All the FEELS, all the connections with our teammates, and the perfect teasing for Season Three!

Seriously, I LOVED this second season and this episode was a perfect season finale!

But we still have so much more content before we're ready for Season 3!

NOTE: A generous patron sent me the link to Episode 0, so I have everything I need to react for weeks to come! I'm SO SO excited! Thank you all for the support! ^^

I CANNOT wait until you watch the Starting Days! I love it so much!!! Also, Mako/Haru forever. They are just so pure. 💕💕 ps. Plot wise, what you have left is Starting Days, Take Your Marks & Dive to the Future...and then you have to suffer with the rest of us 😥😥

I'm SO excited about everything with Free! that I have left to watch! :D :D ALL THE FREE! And then, yeah....then the wait and suffering...but HEY, maybe by the time I get through everything, the movie will be closer to coming out? Eh? EH? I looked with the movies and didn't realize there was nearly FOUR YEARS between Season Two and Season Three coming out?! Holy cow, WHAT?!

Yeah :( The fire in Kyoto Animation a few years back plus the pandemic has delayed everything even more

I forgot about the Kyoto fire! That is so sad, and yes, the pandemic has delayed a lot of things, but if we get a Free! and Yuri on Ice! movie around the same time? **chef's kiss**

This is such a strong season finale. I also get the feeling that they kinda wanted to really go all-out, just in case this was the last piece of Free! canon ever released. Haru and Makoto's reconciliation was really great. When I first watched I had worried they were going to brush over it, like an unspoken "everything is fine." But seeing Haru steel himself and look Makoto dead in the eyes as he apologizes felt so necessary. A very cute scene. Also, Makoto in that flannel at college kinda hits different. Goddamn. Their swimming at nationals, all of the animal motifs swimming with each other... one of the least heterosexual things I've ever seen. I always kinda laugh when they get to the recap portion of the episode... just imagining trying to have a conversation like that with my good friends. I get nostalgia and being like "remember that time when... ?", but to do it in chronological order from the beginning is such a funny idea to me. But then the waterworks start and I still get teary-eyed. And then I think "Hug your friends, jerks!!!" because they all just kinda... awkwardly stand there. I'm quite excited to see your response to... well, all of it. But the OVA is just insane. In a very good way.

I definitely get that "end of series" vibe with this, too, especially that last shot for the "dive to the future" and I don't blame them for going all out, just in case...I still can't believe there was so long between this season and the third season (with movies in between, of course). Ahhh, I looooved how Haru and Mako reconnected and got all that out in the open! Much needed! And ahhh, there's just something about college Mako already. Indeed. It's hitting different, haha!! I just laughed out loud at your "animal motifs as the least heterosexual thing you've ever seen" comment. Agreed. 100%. And I love it. I was thinking that, too, like, "okay, why are we just wasting time recapping the seasons?" But then you realize it's all leading to Nagisa's punchline about this being their last year...and then it got sad. Ahhh...I took it as Mako and Haru were unsure how to handle the moment, other than to just let them cry it out. I imagine once they were done, Mako said some parental, caring sort of thing...but we gotta save that hug for after the final race! XD And yesssss, I'm SO excited for the OVA! And the movies! And season 3! Yes, all of it! I'm so glad there's still quite a bit of Free! content left (and supposedly a movie maybe this year). I'm not ready to say goodbye to Free! yet. :3
