This monthโ€™s Patreon tutorial is a vibrant Butterfly in Paradise, inspired by the incredible plants and creatures I encountered on my recent trip to Costa Rica! ๐ŸŒบ๐Ÿฆ‹ The composition features the striking red lobster claw plant, a beautiful violet tropical flower, and a delicate butterfly resting among lush, intricate leaves โ€” a true celebration of tropical silhouettes.

๐ŸŽจ In this tutorial, weโ€™ll focus on:โ€ข Layering reds to achieve that extra vibrancy in the lobster claw.โ€ข Using lifting techniques to create soft, natural highlights on the leaves and butterfly wings.

If youโ€™d like a head start, the first version of this plant (with a brief tutorial) is already available on my YouTube channel, and I posted an ad-free version here:๐Ÿ‘‰ YouTube Ad-Free Video: Lobster Claw Watercolor Tutorial

๐ŸŒž The full tutorial with voiceover and printable outlines will be available for you here on Patreon next week โ€” on Tuesday, July 15. I canโ€™t wait to paint this tropical scene with you!

โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒฟ See you in the studio soon!

My usual 12 x 12 ๐Ÿ™‚ but you can increase / scale down to whatever size works best for you! I will also be proving a separate outline just for the red lobster claw plant on the left so you can practice that segment on a vertical 9x 12.
