💙 Thank You for Joining Our First Live Watercolor Chat! 🎨☕️

Thank you so much to everyone who joined the LIVE session today! I was absolutely thrilled to meet you all virtually and spend time chatting about all things watercolor. Your thoughtful questions and feedback made it such a lovely, personal experience, and I truly enjoyed connecting in this more relaxed format.

As we discussed, I’ll continue experimenting with different time zones and formats so that these sessions feel both productive and cozy for everyone (myself included ✨). If I missed any of your questions during the live, don’t worry — I’ll be sure to start our next session by coming back to them.

I’m already looking forward to the next time we meet live. Until then, happy painting! 💙🎨

The Live Chat was fun and informative. You were sensational, Anna, as always!

Ve Butler

I need to know where you got your specs x

Anna Bucciarelli

These are bifocal which is super helpful as I am getting more and more nearsighted with age ☺️ I got them at Josephson’s opticians store here in Toronto.

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you SO MUCH for joining and your support! I did my best to catch the comments I hope I wasn’t too scattered 🥹 Look forward to doing more of these ❤️

Ve Butler

Mine are too….age, eh?!

Ve Butler

I used to live in Hamilton so I visited Toronto a lot x

Deborah Cooper

Very much so great, loved all the information. Excited for your next live stream hopefully I’ll join in on time then.

Tracey

Am sorry I missed this live call but very relieved you recorded it! Thanks and enjoy your weekend.

Valerie

Hi Anna—I really enjoyed the Live Chat today and look forward to all of the upcoming projects. Could you please let us know again where we can find the FB group? I can’t seem to find it. Thank you!!

Cindy Price

I totally agree about the paper. I just in thee last 2 months started using arches and the difference is amazing

Anna Bucciarelli

I am in Niagara now 🥰 Oh yeah the eye sight issues after 40 shocked me… I actually thought there was something wrong at first but the dr said - you can’t wear the same lenses and paint anymore - you are nearsighted 😖 Finally by 45 I started investing in proper glasses. These bifocals were a game changer!

Paulette Detweiler Imhof

You were a delight to be with today. Just finish the Blue Pumpkin. Where can we share?

Rosemarie Sember

Anna, I enjoyed the chat although wasn’t able to watch live. I like doing fine, detailed painting and I’ve learned a lot from watching your tutorials. Hopefully I’ll be around for the next live chat.

Kim Scales

i missed the live, but enjoyed watching later, I enjoy doing very realistic painting, hopefully i can catch the next one

Sammie Bryant

I have no idea why you were nervous, you're a natural at this! Couldn't see the live but I'm really enjoying watching, very informative. Regarding the drawing, it was very helpful but I did have a hard time seeing. I personally would have liked it a little darker and then maybe erase some! I do like some bits and then put big picture together. Also, I love the blue pumpkin. I would also love peonies, they are just so beautiful. Thanks so much!

Jojo

We have facebook group: Paint with Anna Bee!

DebiON

Hi Anna, I enjoyed the live session today! Thank you. Sent a request to join your Facebook page. Looking forward to more live sessions and tutorials.

Sammie Bryant

FYI- Javid Tabatabaei is an excellent landscape watercolor artist. He is @Watercolor By Javid on Patreon. His landscapes are beautiful.

Cynthia

Hi Anna, I wasn’t able to watch the live chat, but, enjoying the recorded version. Hopefully I can attend the next live session!🌷

Diane Johnson

Yes I d love to see you sketch live! I did have troubles seeing the plum sketch.

Diane Johnson

I like the idea of individual flowers in different positions, then a larger composition.

Jaynee Burks

The audio was very low for me, even with my phone one max audio. Good to hear your thoughts💞

Mal Mosely

Hi Anna what a true delight you are! I was able to watch the recording… you are so generous to listen and support us in this way. In response to your feedback requests…I think your idea of a singular subject without everything having to be the full complex composition would also be a great learning experience for us) but… concerning you and your wonderful ideas… don’t change a thing! I agree with Sammie … you are a natural! I feel everything you do and say is so helpful… regardless of the particular subject matter in your work …for example I watercolour little story books for my grandchildren which doesn’t involve a lot of flowers- more like diggers and seashells and whatever they are into!… but I find ALL your work is always helpful to my own practice… your techniques apply to everything and your high standard is encouraging and informative and wonderfully enjoyable…I agree it would be such fun to actually be together so I will try to catch you live on the next run and I shall have my cup of tea ready to make it more real! Thanks again and well done …

Ve Butler

Colour makes me happy. Ridiculously peaceful and content with excitement. The brain loves colour (I’m a mental health practitioner) and so whatever works for any individual is perfect. For me, the more the merrier! X

Jennifer Lim

Dear Anna, I was unable to watch your live chat, but I still enjoyed the recorded version. I love all your paintings and your techniques, and I will be subscribing to your Patreon to learn more from you. Btw, I am from Singapore 😉

Jacky Lub

Good morning Anna, thank you so much for this recording 🙏🏽. Interesting to watch 🌸. Such a wonderful medium watercolor. I discovered this June last year and because I am sick, this was a livesaver 🎨🖌. I love being a member of this group. Take care and thank you for all the lessons, tips and tutorials! Greetings from Jacky, the Netherlands

Suelen

Hey Anna, missed the live call…but I watched it later and it was super informative. I’d love to learn more how to paint birds and who are your favorites artists 🧑‍🎨 Cant wait for the next one! 🌸❤️

Lisa L Luebben

Thank You Anna. Really loved the pigment series and am excited to see Red. From Port Angeles WA.

John

I'm sorry I couldn't make this, but definitely the next one. Thanks for recording the session--it's fun and super helpful. The new studio looks fantastic.

Linda

Thank you so very much! I thoroughly enjoyed the session. I watched the recording since I couldn't watch live. You did great! I love your personality and sincerity in your teaching.

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you Linda ☺️ We’ll try different days / time zones next - I want to make sure these sessions work best with everyone’s schedule ❤️

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you Suelen! I think I will do a separate video on my favourite watercolor artists - the ones I follow and learned from over the years ❤️

John

Hi Anna, For me, working on a whole composition is most helpful because of all the considerations you mention. Each of the pumpkins an other objects are still drawn individually in the composition, so we would get the best of both approaches, and I'd like to learn more about how to see and create a full composition as part of my own journey learning how to paint and draw. Thanks for asking.

Monalisa Mackey

Hi Anna, What about using a humidifier in the room where you are painting. That would add moisture to the air and essentially allow the paper to stay wet longer wouldn’t it? It would be a good alternative for those persons who wish to use synthetic brushes only.

Valerie

I glad I got to see the recording, had some family things

Cynthia

I like your idea of recording painting/drawing different flowers or other objects, and from different angles.

Kathleen Highaam

I LOVE how you showed how to draw. I think I ‘can’t’ draw but I followed your plum picture and it turned out great. I’ve painted the parrot, clownfish, butterfly and ginger(?). I’d love to see each way to draw a flower in different views. Thanks.

Melissa

When was this scheduled? I wish I had known about it in advance.

Judi Max

I am learning a great deal from you. I was a porcelain artist. I was surprised to find out that watercolor is a challenge after 50 years of painting on china. I started watercolor at nearly 82, so I plan to keep on going in this journey. Thank you.

Dian

I enjoyed watching this on the recording Anna. I thought your previous post on drawing for watercolour was excellent and I learned a lot. Your idea of tutorials on drawing/painting things from different angles would be very useful. Well done with your first live chat :)

Terry

Thank you so much for sharing yourself with us. I am enjoying all your tutorials, and I am a new watercolor painter (8 months). I have had a lot of problems with paper wetness and the blooming of colors. I use 300lb paper Arches, but still not achieving that technique. I also would like to know if granulated paints are better than regular paint. Thankyou for doing this video. You are so talented and so gracious and a great teacher.

Susie

I love that you have shared your cat with us (they are our Supervisors!)

Angela Marie

Hi Anna, I joined today hoping your live stream of the pumpkin would be available. Are you going to be posting it so the ones of us who missed have a chance to try out the beautiful blue pumpkin?

Dianne Carpenter

I’m so sorry I missed the live chat, but I enjoyed the recording. One thing I would love to do is a tutorial with more of your animals and flowers, like rabbits, cats, roosters, the gorgeous turkey, and all wildlife animals!. I love your watercolors so much

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you Dianne! I'll do a poll tomorrow to get a better understanding of which time zones and times of the day work best for everyone when it comes to lives:) I LOVE the turkey suggestions - have done many of these for my own projects but never as a tutorial. Looking for references now!

Anna Bucciarelli

Welcome to the channel! The blue pumpkin image is from a demo I shared last year — you can find it, along with the outlines, in the Demo Collection here: https://www.patreon.com/collection/425559. Just a quick note: demos are bonus content I started offering last year, in addition to the regular narrated tutorials. Since they’re my own creative exercises, they don’t include voice-over, but they often feature experimental pigments and techniques that later become the foundation for my full Patreon tutorials. If you’d like a narrated walk-through, there’s a brief YouTube video where I highlight key parts of the process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OpJ68OkP6I. For fully narrated tutorials, you can browse the complete index here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/tutorial-53705306. And as I mentioned during our LIVE, this month’s tutorial will be a larger composition featuring several pumpkins — including a blue one! 🙂 Have a wonderful day, and if you ever have any questions, the best way to reach me is through the Patreon Direct Message feature. I may occasionally miss comments in the shuffle of updates, but I always make sure to respond to Patron DMs every Friday!

Anna Bucciarelli

100%!!!! My days now fully revolve around her nap and playtime schedule haha 💖💖💖

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you! This was such a productive discussion. We'll try both going forward, starting with the larger more complex 3-pumkin drawing, and then we'll try different angles on a rose:)

Anna Bucciarelli

Hi Melissa, I did a post announcing this LIVE a day ahead. They should come to your email - I will do an announcement a few days ahead next time:) Thanks!

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you so much Judi! Wow I am so fascinated by your art journey - do you have a website or social where I can see your porcelain work?

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you Kathleen! I am so excited to hear these drawing sessions are helpful. Will post more soon!

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you Monalisa! I will mention your recommendation during next live (and I must try this in the new studio - maybe a smaller table humidifier)

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you for your kind words, John! I look forward to the next one - maybe I'll show more about the studio set up if folks are interested:) Have a wonderful day!

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you so much, Terry — I really appreciate your kind words! 💖 Regarding granulating versus non-granulating paints — it’s really just a matter of preference and the look you want to achieve. Personally, I like to combine the two because the contrast can create beautiful effects, but it really depends on your style. I’ll make sure to add this topic to our next live discussion so we can explore it together. In the meantime, if you’d like to dive deeper into granulation, I have a dedicated tutorial from June featuring two finch birds — it’s a fun one to start with for experimenting in this area!

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you, John - this is very helpful feedback and important for me to know. I recorded the full process of composition drawing this time for the October tutorial featuring pumpkins and crab apples (including how I add and mix up different references to fill out the space, and the thought process behind it). I will post it next week! Then we'll do a more simple "painting 3 roses from different angles" drawing-specific video without composition considerations. Have a wonderful day!

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you so much, Jacky! I am lucky to have a wonderful and supportive community and I can't wait to do more of these sessions ❤️ Have a great day!

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you so much, Jennifer! I feel really fortunate to be surrounded by such a kind and supportive community, and I’m already looking forward to hosting more of these sessions ❤️ Wishing you a wonderful day! P.S. I had the chance to visit Singapore back in 2008 and was absolutely blown away by the architecture — it left such a lasting impression on me. Also the food was AMAZING!:)))))))

Anna Bucciarelli

100% mental health aspect of all this is so important. Art is a form of meditation, especially an unpredictable medium like watercolor:)

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you so much for your lovely message 💖 I’m so glad the recording was helpful, and I really appreciate your thoughts on trying simpler, single-subject studies. I love that you create watercolor storybooks for your grandchildren — what a special way to use your art! It makes me so happy to know my techniques translate into all kinds of subjects. I’ll look forward to having you join live next time — cup of tea and all ☕💫. Thank you again for your kindness and encouragement!

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you Debi - I accepted the FB request. Have a wonderful day!

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you for your feedback Sammie - I agree, it's hard to see even for me and I am looking at it up close. I might try something different where I use dark pencil on regular paper (so folks can see better) and although it won't become a painting, the process would be more helpful from a learning stand point.

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you Rosemarie! I will try different time options for our next session so we can see what works best for everyone:) Have a wonderful day!

Monalisa Mackey

It’s definitely worth giving it a go to see how it helps when the weather is dry! 😃👍🏻

Mary Hartman

Just finished watching your stream. It was wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to you talk about your process and why you do the content you do. I think you offer so much on Patreon. I started painting a few years ago and followed Paul Clark. I was delighted to hear you like him as well. Thank you for all the time and effort you put in to teaching us these skills.

Priscilla Carrasco

Great IDEA on the individual item sketch it narrows the focus and we can carry the knowledge into the larger composition!

Christiane

I am so glad it’s a reply because I didn’t have the chance to listen to the life one. Thank you for all your tips

Blanca

You did great I love your work

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you Christiane! I am super happy Patreon now has this LIVE functionality and yes they do save the recording so I'll be ding more sessions soon:) Have a great day!

Susie Lessard

Good information regarding brushes. Thank you. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to join in on the live but I’m delighted to have the chance to listen now.

Susie Lessard

Yes, I would like a session where we draw just the flower, etc. I’d like to learn how to “add” onto that as well making it a full scene. While I can draw, I’m not as confident with it as I am painting. Drawing and watercolor are two different disciplines. But… I also feel bad tracing your beautiful work as I feel like it’s really not my work - does that make sense? For now though I’m learning so much about watercolor and drawing that I know in time I’ll get better.

Susie Lessard

I know it takes a much longer time to edit, but, please keep doing what you’re doing. I for one want quality not quantity. As I learn more, if I don’t want to paint the composition you offer for the month I’ll choose something else and practice what I’ve been learning on that piece.

Susie Lessard

Anna, you did a wonderful job with your first video! Very good information. I’m so sorry that I cannot share with you the piece I had matted & framed, just know that you were a central part in my journey to make that happen. What I learned from you in one setting was such a confidence booster. Thank you many times over!

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you, Susie! I’m so happy the first video was helpful and that you felt that confidence boost. Even if I can’t see the framed piece, knowing I played a small part in your journey is the best reward. 💛 Also, we’d be delighted to see your piece in our private Facebook group! Please join here: www.facebook.com/groups/1267159783736466/ —it’s a friendly space to share our watercolor journey, WIPs, ideas, tutorial-specific and general questions, tips, and challenges. I really appreciate your encouragement about quality over quantity. I’ll keep polishing the edits and teaching moments—even if it takes longer. And I love your plan to apply the monthly lessons to your own compositions when a subject isn’t calling you—that’s exactly the right mindset. On drawing vs. painting (and tracing): it makes perfect sense. Drawing and watercolor are related but different muscles, and it’s totally normal to feel more confident with one. Tracing in a learning phase isn’t “cheating”—it lets you focus on washes, edges, and timing while your drawing skills catch up. A nice bridge is to trace the big shapes, then freehand the details; or do a 5–10 minute thumbnail first, then trace the final outline to save time. Also—fresh update! I just finished recording the next Drawing for Watercolor session featuring three fall leaves (will post this week as soon as I edit the intro) , and after that we’ll tackle roses and orchids. 🌿🌹💮 Glad the brush info helped, and no worries about missing the live—the replay will always be there when you’re ready. Thank you again for the kindness and thoughtful feedback. I’m cheering you on! ✨

Maria da Silva

You have such a kind voice and you are gorgeous. Keep helping us. You are amazing

Victoria Zimmerman

Hi Anna, love your tutorials and the format. The outline sketches are very helpful. Please do more! I just finished sketching the plums. The sketch came out better than I anticipated, following your process and suggestions. Some Ideas for vegetables/fruits: artichoke, fennel, garlic, pomegranate, lemons on a lemon tree, tangerines - would love to learn how to paint these.

Anna Bucciarelli

I am so happy to hear that, Victoria. And thank you for the recommendations - Pomegranate in particular has been on my to do list for a while, and I plan on doing a tutorial very soon. Happy painting!

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you so much Maria! 🫣🥰🥰🥰 It means a lot! I am finishing up the wreath this week and we'll do another live next week I think. Have a wonderful day!

Danita Lock

Hi, how wonderful that you do live presentations! I hope to be able to join in the future. I have been admiring your work on you tube for awhile, (you are the best!) and was finally able to join your patreon this month. I am just trying to learn watercolor and hope that I will someday be able to paint something that pleases me. Your use of beautiful colors is outstanding. Other than patreon is there somewhere else I go for classes or info? I do not know about skillshare. Thanks for sharing your talent. You are a blessing. Also, did you start painting as a child, like they train from a young age in some Russian towns, since you are from Ukraine.

Danita Lock

I would like to know all about your painting journey, when and how you got started, what helped you learn and grow, etc. How you came to draw botanicals etc. I love that you are a cat person. Cat pple are the best, in my humble opinion, lol. I have 3. Angie, Fuzzy and Purball. :)

Mariana Ath

Hi! I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your work. I’m a complete beginner, and discovering your art is actually what inspired me to start learning watercolor. Your style and the way you approach your pieces are so encouraging and motivating. I especially love the tutorials and behind-the-scenes posts you share. If you ever feel like creating more beginner-friendly tutorials or sharing tips for absolute newcomers, I would be so grateful. Thank you for everything you do. Your art really means a lot to me!

Melanie

Would love info about lights. I usually paint in front of a window!!

Melanie

I was not able to go live with you! I am from S GA 37 miles to FL! Enjoy your new move!! I have been watching your videos for over two years in Utube. Joined Patreon this past year. I am a beginner two years ago. This year has been really hard for me to paint regularly! My goal for 2026, is to be more steadfast!! I am a Eastern Time Zone!

Melanie

Victoria Zimmerman, are you in Ga? I know a large family of Zimmerman's in Newton County..

Cath B

Thank you Anna for sharing your wonderful art with us. You are an excellent teacher. I am very glad I have started drawing and painting with you. You take the time to carefully explain what and why you are doing that way and, it is precious. I also have a couple of nice teams of people in France, where I live, I enjoy painting with. I have learnt a lot in a few weeks and, as you said, I hope I will be able to paint on my own after a while. Congratulations anyway and take care.

Ve Butler

Are you doing another soon? X

Anna Bucciarelli

Oh my goodness I've been trying to schedule one for the past few month but every time my kids got sick:( It's been a tough winter....I am going to finally announce one for next week - so much to talk about! I hope you can make it:)

Ve Butler

Name the date and time and I’ll schedule everything else around it x
