๐ Sneak Peek: 3 Pumpkins & Crab Apples Tutorial ๐ (Patreon)
Content
Hello my friends! Iโm so excited to share a little glimpse of my upcoming October watercolor tutorial โ featuring a cozy autumn still life with three pumpkins, crab apples, and chestnuts. This piece captures everything I love about fall: warm colors, soft light, and that peaceful feeling of slowing down with a cup of tea and a brush in hand.
Each pumpkin in this composition will highlight a different watercolor challenge:๐งก The orange pumpkin will help us practice slow glazing and building complex shadows to achieve that perfect rounded, realistic look.๐ค The white pumpkin will focus on painting realistic white subjects โ a delicate balance of subtle color shifts and reflected light.๐ And by popular demand, Iโm bringing back the blue pumpkin from last yearโs demo โ with the same beautiful super-granulating blue from Schmincke. (I know how many of you loved that one!)
Of course, a few crab apples and glossy chestnuts will complete the scene, adding a little sparkle and contrast to this fall palette.
And as many of you requested during our recent Live session, Iโve also recorded the full pencil sketch process for this piece โ with narration! Youโll be able to sketch along with me in real time as I explain my composition choices and the thought process behind combining distinct elements from multiple reference photos. Itโs a great chance to peek behind the curtain at how I build balanced, natural-looking arrangements โ and I canโt wait to share some of my favorite composition secrets with you.
๐ Stay tuned for the full tutorial โ itโs coming soon to Patreon, just in time for pumpkin season!
