Iโ€™m excited to share this weekโ€™s ad-free YouTube video with you: 3 Ways to Paint a Pumpkin: Watercolor Techniques Youโ€™ll Love. In this composition, we'll explore three different approaches to painting everyoneโ€™s favorite fall subject โ€” the pumpkin โ€” each one focusing on a unique watercolor technique and style:

Blue Pumpkin: Beginner-friendly two-layer method using a super-granulating pigment for beautiful, effortless texture.

Orange Pumpkin: Classic glazing technique with transparent layers that build depth and luminous shadows.

White Pumpkin: Shadow-only paintingโ€”no white paintโ€”perfect for pale subjects like white roses or sunlit buildings.

All the colors used, along with a black-and-white outline and reference images, are included in the attachment below so you can paint along or experiment with your own palette. If youโ€™d like to dive deeper, the full real-time sessions are available here on Patreon:

Stunning and a wonderful composition ๐Ÿ’–๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŽƒ!

Can't wait for Tuesday! So excited for this! I just made my own composition using some of my photos and a few reference photos of a raven. It came out a lot better than I thought it would. I rewatched a lot of your bird tutorials...all the way back to your pink cockatoo and lily composition. It's been years since I watched that one. I don't even know where my painting of that went haha I might have to try that one again. Tuesday can't come soon enough! ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿฆโ€โฌ›

I purchased an 8x8 Etcher Watercolor book and will have my piece ready to paint. I painted the blue pumpkin piece on Saturday. I reduced the line drawing enough to put on a watercolor A2 size card to use for a November BD. Iโ€™m happy to say I was very pleased with the results. I purchased the book, 101 Watercolor Secrets - itโ€™s my #1 โ€œgo-toโ€ book for watercolor information. Thank you, Anna.
