What a beautiful way to close out the year, friends! 💛 As we wrap up 2025, I just want to say a heartfelt thank you for joining me on this watercolor journey. It has been such a joy exploring techniques in depth with you—and watching your confidence grow with every new project.

🎨 And wow… look at what we accomplished together this year! ✨ Of course, this is just a small snapshot—we did so much more than I can possibly fit into one post, but here are a few favourites:

Built confidence with focused palettes—from yellows in Yellow Roses, to reds in Lobster Claw & Butterfly, to blues in Blue Plums tutorials,

Practiced granulating pigment technique in Radiant Rose, Finch & Orchids, and 3 Pumpkins tutorials,

Tested 3 watercolor styles + watercolor papers with the Magnolia studies

Painted 3 Winter Birds, experimented with Line & Wash technique, and ended with holiday cheer through Christmas Tree & Wreath compositions 🎄

I’d love to hear from you—what were your favourite tutorials, techniques, or little “aha!” moments this year? 💛

One of the biggest surprises (in the best way) was our brand new series: “Drawing for Watercolor Artists.” The idea was born directly from your feedback, and while I hoped it would be helpful, I didn’t realize just how much it would resonate—though in retrospect, it makes perfect sense. Strong drawing skills make watercolor feel so much more enjoyable and far less intimidating. I’m truly excited about our growing library of step-by-step lessons, where we adapt classic drawing fundamentals specifically for the unique needs of watercolor artists.

Lastly… my biggest personal accomplishment this year was publishing my book, 101 Watercolor Secrets. 🥹 If you find a quiet moment during the holidays—and if you’ve had a chance to enjoy the book—the best Christmas gift you could give me would be leaving a quick review on Amazon or Goodreads.com. It makes such a huge difference for authors, and I’m truly forever grateful.

And before I go—please know how much joy it brings me to see your work in our Facebook community. The variety of styles, the colorful interpretations, and the supportive energy in there genuinely make my day. Watching your growth and progress has been one of the most meaningful parts of this year for me.

Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas season and a Happy New Year filled with creativity, rest, and joy. 🌟 Thank you again for being here. I can’t wait for everything we’ll create together in 2026. 💛

— Anna

P.S. I’ll be taking a much needed time off over the holidays to be with my family. 💛 If you have any questions in the meantime, please send me a Direct Message feature here on Patreon—those messages go straight to my email (unlike regular comments, which can unfortunately get lost in the shuffle of updates). I’ll make sure to respond either in writing and/or during our upcoming live session in January.

Thank you Anna for re-igniting a passion for art. Your love for painting and sharing your skills have given me a second chance at a life I want to live, a life full of creativity beauty and colour.

And, I lived your book. It had been a huge help to me. I do have one thing.. I cannot pin down your palette. I have tried, but your instructions bring in new colors.. so if u use the one in your book .. I am not sure Hands Yellow Deep is in there. I will look again. I would like to put your colors in a separate palette.. With the color choices in Texas, Blues and now Greens I love seeing what you think about certain colors.. but I feel like I have to get every color...

Melanie

Thank you so much Anna for this wonderful year through watercolor. After years of pause I reconnected myself to the beauty of botanical and animals paintings. I learnt so much ! I love your style so rich of colors. It lighted my days even the most difficult ones. Sometimes just watch you paint with your sweet voice gave me a soothing and a peaceful moment. Keep going in 2026 this way you are so talented and a beautiful person. I wish you a merry Xmas with your family surrounded by love Greetings from France

Merry Christmas, Anna! Thanks for the beautiful and unique tutorials!✨

Hi I just joined. I'm a very beginner. A question. I'm asking about under sketching with graphite vs watercolor pencils. I'm not a good drawer. I fear too much erasing. Do you think using watercolor pencils instead of erasing I could wet and lift to then make drawing changes? Preferable to erasing graphite?

elspeth StClair

Next question. I was going to buy Albrecht Durher sp? watercolor pencils - a 64 set or more?

Enjoy your holidays. Wish you a wonderful Christmas and the best for 2026. Looking forward for next year tutorials. Where can we share with you and the others the work we do?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all. I've had such a great time in your Patreon group Anna, and have learned a lot and continue to learn with each tutorial. I love your exquisite style and perfectionistic work. Your work is so beautiful and I can only hope to achieve a little of what you do. Thank you for all your hard work. Hope everyone's holidays are wonderful and you all have a prosperous and healthy new year. Love you all. I forgot to add that my favorite tutorials were the orchids. I love they flower and learned so much. Loved the blue pumpkin also!

Merry Christmas and a creative 2026 Love learning from you and it never stops, always something new and beautiful to paint. Greatly appreciated.

Merry Christmas!! Thank you for the hours of enjoyment I have had learning about watercolor through your tutorials. Do you use procreate and if so where do you think is the best place online to learn? I have just started to use it to create my own compositions and I know I would benefit from taking a course. There are just so many!

Anna Bucciarelli

Merry Christmas, Darcey! Thank you for being a part of this wonderful community 💛 To answer your question, in my commercial work I use Procreate all the time, including in the design of Canadian money / the silver and gold dollar coins I create for the Royal Canadian Mint (I used to use Photoshop but for various reasons switched - I can expand on that in our next LIVE). As far as courses go, I have never taken one, but i did watch a ton of their free YouTube content (Procreate channel). Also, I used to watch a creator James Julier, he has lots of great and FREE tutorials. That said, I use very limited features, basically creating my art by hand first, then tracing on Procreate using basic line and air brushes so it can be digitized.... I am a traditional artist at heart:) I would ask the community on our FB group if they have any good resources / courses they would recommend for more advanced techniques. Thank you!

Darcey

Thank you!

Jean

Thank you Anna. I am eternally grateful for your work and inspiration. I love your book. The painting sessions are like frosting on the cake. May you be truly blessed in the year ahead. Happy New Year

Anna Bucciarelli

Mark, I’m incredibly touched to hear that painting has helped re-ignite your passion for art, and that my classes played even a small part in that. Thank you for trusting me with a piece of your journey! Happy New Year!

Timothy Mark Brook

Thank you so much Anna! Your work and tutorials have provided me with so much joy and rest over the last 6 months! Wishing you a wonderful and happy new year, and looking forward to building more skills with you in this new year! All the best, Tim

Ook voor jullie een mooi en creatief 2026

Anna I’m really curious about the swatch cards you use to show us the colors you’ll be using in your painting tutorials. What size are they?

Anna Bucciarelli

They are 3 by 2 inches, sometimes smaller, sometimes slightly larger, especially if I use granulating paints (to show more texture). I use my regular 12 x 9 Arches paper so the swatch looks exactly as it will later, and cut them up later. Happy New Year!

Hi again. I have just sent a small version of the yellow rose, to you, in discord. I am not sure if this is the procedure or if there is a community and I am not sure how to reach it...

Jean

I receives your e mail about being selected for a member award. Is there a response from me that I am to do?

Anna Bucciarelli

Hi Jean! Unfortunately, that comment was not from me — it was a spammer/scammer who signed up for a free membership last night using my name + “AUTHOR” . I removed the account as soon as I saw it, but they managed to leave a few comments before I caught it. I’ve reported it to Patreon, and that person has now been blocked and removed from the site. Just for clarity too: I never run giveaways through random comment replies like that. I’m really sorry this happened — it’s so frustrating — and I’m in communication with Patreon about how they can help prevent and block these kinds of accounts moving forward. Thank you, Anna

Jean

Thank you Anna for your clarity of response and vision. I am grateful
