Hi, what brand and size is the black brush with orange tip. It looks like it keeps it shape beautifully.

Anna Bucciarelli

Hi Lisa, I think its an old Raphael 8404. I bought in in New York back in 2016 - don't know where to find them in Canada (we don't have much in terms of sable here) but I think US and Europe art stores may carry it. It's size 0. It works the same as W&N Series 7, but go up to size 2 in that brand or any other... Raphael sizing is a bit off from what I am used to.

Beth Curran

The Raphael brushes are very nice. They also have a series 8408 that is longer and works very well for botanical paintings. That series has a white tip. If you happen to find that the white and not the red, I just wanted to share that it is also great to paint with.

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you Beth - this is so helpful! I will be on a lookout too next year when I go to US.

Recently you asked what we would like to see as a beginner tutorial, and for me - this here is just it. A single subject explained in great depth, step by step. There isn't much to distract from the leaf, we aren't worrying about backgrounds or composition. I imagine the patreon version of this video is even better as a beginner tutorial with the detailed drawing and real-time painting.

Wonderful tutorial , I am learning so much from you. Thankyou.

Thank you! I have some new leaves coming this Fall:) Have a wonderful weekend!
