🌸 Happy Spring! Lots of News + Upcoming LIVE Coffee & Chat | Wed. April 15, 1 PM ET ☕🖌️

Happy spring, everyone! 🌷 It feels like this season is arriving with so much fresh energy, and I have a lot of exciting things to share with you. We’ve already completed so many beautiful projects together this year - from our classic florals to, by popular demand, more animals ( I love seeing your horses and bunnies in our shared Facebook group!). It always makes me so happy to wake up and see your interpretations. With spring in full bloom, this feels like the perfect time to share a little studio news and invite you to our next live watercolor chat. ✨

🌿 1. My new Botanical Watercolor Brush Set with Escoda

I’m so excited to finally reveal something Escoda and I have been working on for quite some time: my new Botanical Watercolor Brush Set! 🖌️✨

I get asked all the time which brushes work best for painting flowers and botanicals, so it felt incredibly meaningful to create a set built around the way I actually paint. Escoda has been one of my favourite brush brands for over 15 years, and this set combines my go-to shapes and bristles for everything from soft washes to tiny organic details.

Inside the set:Perla Round #8 — for soft wet-into-wet washes, petals, and leavesPrado Flat 1/2" — for crisp edges, shaping forms, and lifting highlightsPrado Rigger #4 — for stems, veins, and delicate linesChronos Round #2 — for precision, pigment load, and fine organic detail

The set was just announced by Escoda last week and will soon be available through the Escoda Amazon store and major art stores around the world. Distribution can take a little time, so availability may vary depending on where you are. 🌍 The brushes are currently available on:

☕ 2. Upcoming LIVE Coffee & Chat — All Things Watercolor

I also wanted to let you know that I’m really looking forward to our upcoming LIVE Coffee & Chat this Wednesday, April 15 at 1 PM ET. I wasn't able to host one oer the winter months, because kids and I kept getting sick...but I am super excited to reconnect with you all. 💛

LINK to join: https://www.patreon.com/AnnaBucciarelli/events/155526327

We have lots to catch up on, so please drop your questions below and I’ll be answering them live on Wednesday. We can chat about the new brushes, watercolor in general, recent projects, and of course I’ll also follow up on our earlier discussion about beginner watercolor courses and share some thoughts after reading all of your wonderful feedback.

And to celebrate the new brush set, I’ll also be doing a giveaway during this live season of announcements! 🎉 I’ll be giving away 2 brush sets - one for my YouTube subscribers and one for my Patreon subscribers.

FLOWERS. Congratulations again on the wonderful news. Checked out the brushes on the escoda site. They're beautiful. What artists would you consider your inspiration for exploring botanical art or was it just always an interest?

There will be a replay Yvonne! The time difference between us is wild! When I worked with Etchr team on my sketchbook collaboration finding time was a huuge challenge as they are also based in Australia! One day when my kids are maybe away with grandparents for the weekend I will try to do a late night live for everyone who is overseas 🌸🌸🌸🌸 Have a wonderful day!

I love the bird with flowers. Is that a current tutorial? Please discuss the difference between your new brushes--especially the 1/2 inch flat escoda chronos and the prado 1/2 inch flat. I would also like to know best methods to print outlines that are larger than one sheet of paper. Some of them I am able to easily manipulate in the windows 11 paint program while others I can't. Example: The tutorial says 12 X 12 and I can only get it to print 15 X 15. I hope the FLOWERS set sells well. I will keep an eye out for it. Congrats Anna. I looking forward to Wednesday.

Flowers. Eagerly waiting your chat. I'm a beginner student of watercolor, but am rapidly learning technique due to your tutorials. I've completed four and working on the fifth painting. I am looking forward to many more excellent tutorials.

Anastasiia Lebedieva

Hello! Thanks for all the great work you're doing! I would really appreciate your advice on my struggle: doesn't really matter if I paint wet-on-wet or wet-on-dry, big washes or small sections, the pigments are concentrating on the edges of a wet area and stay there. Glazing on top with extending on nearby sections helps a bit but does not fix the issue. I use Arches cold pressed paper and Daniel Smith pro watercolors. Also the drying time for cold pressed paper is enormously fast: when I'm in the middle of a petal the starting point is already dry. I tried Ox Gall from QOR, it helps, but does not solve the problem... Regards, Anastasiia Lebedieva

FLOWERS!!! I am so pumped for this new set to be released! Such an excellent combination of bristle type and shapes! I CANNOT WAIT to try these! You inspired me to try the escoda brushes a while back so I'm really looking forward to adding these to my collection and getting a feel for the different lines. I'm so inspired by your tutorials and your style and you have the best voice! So pleasant and relaxing to listen to! I also LOVED your book! Bought one for myself and one for my best friend, excellent for beginners and those of us who havebeen painting for a while! Huge fan, sending love and gratitude!🥰

Question for you: Sometimes when I'm using the second hand with a blender brush on a dark color, instead of blending the line it lifts. Any advice on correctly blending to avoid lifting? Congrats on your new Escoda brush set!

Mal Mosely

FLOWERS- the new brush set sounds great!

FLOWERS. I thought I bought all the brushes you recommended and these are a little bit different❣️

FLOWERS. I am a fan of Escoda brushes - so I will definitely be watching out for these.

How do I join this? Also where do I communicate with you? I want to also thank you for the incredible way you teach so much to learn

Heather R Hare

Flowers! I would love to know about the differences between the various Escoda lines - I notice your brushes are from 3 different ones. I know they have the qualities of the different animal hairs made into a synthetic brush, but as a relative newcomer to art I don’t know what the differences are. Why not all 4 brushes from the same line? That’s what I’m curious about. Also how do I find the Facebook group? :)

Shellee Hoyt

Flowers! So glad about these brushes! Will definitely will be buying some.

Anna, congratulations. This is well deserved récognition to you the artist you are. Brava. I do hope we can also see this brushes soon at Rosemary & Co for those of us in Europe. I cannot stop smiling. How pleasing life is especially seeing the fresh greens of Spring as She springs. Maybe an interview at Jackson Art too since it would be so interesting to hear you talk about your work for the Canadian Mint and how you came to watercolour from there. Très bonne journée Anna, félicitations.

Is there anywhere in the US these can be purchased? I have been stalking the sites to purchase since your first announcement, and they have never been available.

I love the magpie in the flowers painting, is that a tutorial at all?

Anna Bucciarelli

Hi Bella, thank you for your message! This painting I did just for pleasure and my own practice, I didn't record it as a tutorial. But you can enjoy many similar compositions in my Birds & Blooms collection here: https://www.patreon.com/collection/33857 Happy Painting!

I’m so excited to try these new brushes! I was honestly surprised by how fast they arrived. I ordered them from Artemiranda last Wednesday and expected to wait a few weeks since I’m in Texas, but DHL delivered them yesterday. I had also found them on Amazon, but checked prices like I usually do, and they were literally half the price at Artemiranda. Since I had budgeted for the higher price, I also treated myself to an Arches watercolor journal, which I’ve never seen here in the US.

Hi Anna, I bought your brushes set on the online shop Miranda in Spain. The brshes are really perfect to pain the botanical desings. Please, Anna, what is the name of the QOP product that you put in your water before painting? Thank you so much in advance. Isa
