Hello my dear Patrons! 

I am beyond thrilled to finally share this with you - after months of dreaming, planning, and (not so secretly) painting colourful, vibrant flora and birds with you here on Patreon, I'm hosting my very first international art retreat, and I want YOU to be the first to know.

For seven nights, we'll be tucked away on a beautiful countryside estate in the heart of Cabo de Gata Natural Park - a UNESCO Geopark of gorgeous Mediterranean flora and some of the most remarkable birdlife I've ever had the joy of painting. If you know me, you know this is basically my dream backdrop. Birds AND blooms, all in one place! 🐦🌸 Just look at that bougainvillea! So many of you have been asking for these flowers — and here we'll get to observe and paint them live. This is the kind of color we'll be chasing on our trip. 🌺

🎨 What to Expect

Daily classes and demonstrations with me, plus personalised guidance throughout the week

A deep dive into the most important watercolour techniques to help you create vibrant scenes featuring birds and flowers

A bright, fully equipped studio with everything you need - paper, easels, plein-air stools, and more

Two amazing day trips full of learning, sketching, and inspiration (more on those below!)

Chef-prepared meals, local wine, and relaxed evenings together

A small, intimate group - just 16 students - so there's plenty of one-on-one time with me

This retreat welcomes all levels, though you'll get the most out of it if you already have some familiarity with watercolour (and with my teaching style - which, if you're here, I think you do 😉).

🚐 Amazing Day Trips Full of Learning Twice during the week, we'll trade the studio for the outdoors:

A half-day trip to La Alcazaba of Almería - one of Europe's best-preserved Moorish fortresses - where we'll observe and sketch flowers among centuries-old walls and gardens, followed by lunch at a charming local spot.

A full-day adventure into Cabo de Gata Natural Park, visiting the wild and beautiful El Albardinal botanical garden, then strolling the turquoise coastline near San José, with lunch by the sea along the way.

Color theory and how to build vibrant, harmonious palettes

Glazing, wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, wet-on-damp, and negative painting techniques

How to capture realistic texture in feathers, petals, and leaves

The specific brushwork that brings birds and botanicals to life

How to compose balanced, dynamic scenes that bring birds and blooms together

🏡 Where We'll Stay & 🍽️ The FoodOur home for the week is a charming countryside Spanish estate in the heart of the natural park - private rooms, gardens brimming with native plants, and a pool to cool off in after painting. All meals are taken care of (breakfasts, lunches, and dinners by a private chef using local ingredients, dietary needs catered for), with dinners paired with local wine and the kind of evenings that turn into lasting friendships.
