Welcome to the "Tropical Frog" watercolor demonstration. This real-time recording includes the full drawing and painting process, along with a list of materials. The final painting reference and black-and-white outlines are also attached below.
Please Note: demo recordings are bonus content, offered in addition to our regular narrated tutorials. There's no voice-over on my demo compositions - they're my own creative exercises, and they tend to contain rather a lot of experimental pigments and techniques. As always, I'll be using this small sketchbook study for an upcoming fully narrated tutorial, featuring a frog alongside other organic elements in a more complex composition. 🐸

🎨 WATERCOLOR SUPPLIES

🎨 WATERCOLOR PIGMENTS
For this study, I tested a variety of pigments to explore different combos - but you don’t need the exact same paints! Please experiment with what you already have. For example, you don't need all four blue/black variations - just one would suffice. Have fun and make it your own!
ORANGE: I tested two variations (you only need one of these): Winsor Orange Red Shade from W&N: https://amzn.to/3NpvLnR and Quinacridone Coral from Daniel Smith: https://amzn.to/4d44hfk
YELLOW: Hansa Yellow Deep from Daniel Smith: https://amzn.to/49fhK0U
BROWN: I tested two hues (you only need one of them): Quinacridone Burnt Scarlet from Daniel Smith and Permanent Brown from Daniel Smith. Another color that would work well is Quinacridone Burnt Orange from any brand.
VIVID BLUE: Phthalo Blue Red Shade: https://link.amazon/B0j3fECnx
DARK BLUE / BLACK : I tested four pigments (you only need one of them): Indanthrone Blue from QoR: https://amzn.to/4cKMVUw , Payne's Gray Violet from QoR, Lamp Black from W&N, and Indigo from Daniel Smith: https://amzn.to/409kObF
PURPLE: I used a splash of Dioxazine Purple from QoR: https://amzn.to/4ddnr24 but I don't think it is necessary here.
