Welcome to the ad-free version of my latest video! Since you're here rather than on YouTube, thank you for supporting the channel on Patreon, it's support like yours that makes ad-free versions like this one possible.
🌸 This video is all about the habits that make your sketchbook practice actually count, whether you're working in watercolor or in a completely different medium. I'll walk you through what I did differently starting my newest sketchbook, and I think it's one of the more useful videos I've put together in a while.
🎨Before we get into it, a couple of quick updates:
First, the fully narrated, real-time tutorial for the pink geranium painting you'll see in this video is already up on Patreon for my tier 2 and tier 3 supporters.: https://www.patreon.com/AnnaBucciarelli/posts/170556392
And an update on the Etchr sketchbook set: production started last week! 📚 The full collection ships in late October, and everyone who pre-ordered will get lifetime access to this geranium tutorial, plus one additional watercolor tutorial, as part of that. Your support on this means the world to me, thank you all so much!

🎨 WATERCOLOR SUPPLIES
PAPER: Cold Pressed 100% cotton Sketchbook from Etchr, 8 x 9 inches. I recommend Cold Pressed paper for this work, 140lbs or higher in weight.
BRUSHES: You will need at least two round pointed brushes: Larger {sizes #3-#4} for big washes, and smaller {#0-2} for finer details. I am using W&N Series 7 in size #3, Raphael in size #2 (+ similar size Chronos). You will also need a flat brush for lifting technique. I am using Escoda Prado in sizes 1/2" .
GLOVE (optional): Protective Glove/Smudge guard https://amzn.to/3GFcojf
Water, tissue paper, and palette.
🎨 PALETTE
WARM RED: I am using Quinacridone Coral from Daniel Smith (PR209): https://amzn.to/4d44hfk
DARK RED: I am using Permanent Alizarin Crimson from QoR (PR177): https://amzn.to/4AFfSh5
GREEN: I am using Cascade Green from from Daniel Smith (PBr 7, PB 15): https://amzn.to/49vWswp and Green Apatite Genuine from Daniel Smith (PrimaTek): https://amzn.to/3x1Mt4o You don't need both; just one green - preferable granulating - would work. For example, some Sap Greens granulate. You can also mix a granulating Blue and Yellow of your choice.
PURPLE (shadows): I am using Dioxazine Purple (PV23) from QOR: https://amzn.to/4ddnr24
BROWN: I am using Quinacridone Burnt Scarlet from Daniel Smith.
Orange-y BROWN #2 (OPTIONAL!): I am using Burnt Sienna (PR101) from W&N https://amzn.to/3qRqjyz
