I am happy to finally be able to share the full version of the Pink Orchids tutorial that I did live as part of the Summer Creative retreat with Peggy Dean [there was a wait period of a few months before I could publish it on other platforms].

Ingrid

Hello. Regarding the pigments: what brand are they? Thanks

Anna Bucciarelli

Hi Ingrid! Most of them are generic name so any brand will do. But your question brought my attention to the fact that I wasn't clear enough so I just updated the description to specify my brands where it matters. Specifically W&N Quin Violet is quite vibrant and differs from that of QOR for example. Thank you!

Ingrid

Thank you, Anna.

Mercedes Opheim

Oh, Anna! I just signed up and this is the first tutorial I was able to work through from beginning to end and I am sooooo happy with my results. Thank you so much for making this available to the world.

Anna Bucciarelli

So glad to hear you are enjoying these 🧡 Thank you Mercedes! 😊

haida fdila

Hello, thank you for this vidéo. It took me twice more time than you and it is far to be perfect but I love it.

Darin

Anna, thank you for this free one. It is beautiful painting, and your tutorial. I wonder do you stretch your paper?

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you Darin. No, I never stretch - I use blocks instead, where the sheets are glued on the side. This for the most part helps prevent buckling.

Aurora Culkin

Hi Anna, This orchid tutorial is a delight to paint. I'm strengthening my technique and painting a beautiful flower for my Mom for her birthday. She loves orchids:) Will tackle more orchids in the future from your botanical collection but her birthday is soon:) I also want to share that I did a deep dive into your pigment color charts this past weekend and am learning a lot. Even if the pigment code is the same the binder that each manufacturer uses will play a part in how the color presents on paper. All so fascinating and helpful. I am so appreciative of the depth that you go on your Patreon site. Thank you. And, btw, I love the music that you play while painting:)

Alicia

Not sure what's going on but the vimeo video won't open for me.

Anna Bucciarelli

I am sorry Alicia - may I ask how you are watching the videos? On an app? On desktop / PATREON website? Vimeo made some changes to their embed code recently and the videos play only “within” PATREON site so that’s why I am asking. Please let me know and I will follow up. Thank you.

Sherry Burnett

Very helpful tutorial Anna. Thank you

Alicia

I am on mobile using the patreon app. When I click the link it opens Vimeo but the video never opens or plays. A message reads across the screen "This video can't be found. Such is the mysteries of the internet."

Jojo

I remember watching it live! People loooved it!! 😄

Anna Bucciarelli

Oh I was so excited to join but it was during school pick up time and I missed it sadly. I am glad to hear it was well received! Thank you for letting me know Jo:)

Anna Bucciarelli

Sorry about that Alicia - are you able to watch it on Patreon / just in your browser?

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you Diana! Generally when I blend it’s damp, not fully loaded. But the amount of water will depend on how far you want your blend to extend. More water means your transition will extend further. Let me know which part specifically you are referring to! 😊

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you for clarifying Diana! For yellow [at the start] and deep red [at the end] I use a damp brush to have more control and avoid the paint spreading out too fast. For the main pink on the petals I use a wet brush fully loaded with clear water [i may just tap it on the edge of my water jar to remove the excess water drops but overall its very wet]. I hope this helps!
