Hi all! As promised, I’ve spent the beginning of the year exploring portrait watercolor and prepping an in-depth tutorial for you all! 😊 a million studies later (if you’ve followed my insta stories) I’ve picked a lovely face for us to practice on. We’ll talk skin color mixing, limited palette, face anatomy, light and shadows, color temperature and other fundamentals that are important for capturing faces. I am off to edit the voiceover and will as always respond to your DMs on Friday. Have a wonderful day 💕

PS: if you haven’t seen it yet, I released a full guide to 12 wet-on-wet applications on my YouTube channel, and will cross post it here so you can watch without ads. + extended version coming out on PATREON with extra commentary this weekend.

When I paint portraits I often struggle with the skin tones. Depending on the paper it gets overworked. But also sometimes I accidentally muddy up the colours or they start to lift at some point because my browns are very lifting 😭 Also with adding greys for beard shadows it can get tricky. I'd love some tips for that

Sandra Parness

That's will definitely make things easier - I am a graphic artist too {in my "professional" life} and I think with your pencil experience you will have solid background for watercolor values. Enjoy!
