I am often asked to create beginner-friendly tutorials, condensing fundamental watercolor techniques. The recent release on Youtube focuses on wet-on-wet, showcasing 12 variations. I'm sharing it here for an AD-FREE experience:) Simultaneously, I've recorded an extended real-time version with additional tips and commentary - coming out as soon as I finish editing.

Why I am doing this {in addition to more complex compositions]? As I am working on a book and writing in-depth about essential subjects like wet-on-wet, I thought I would record some helpful demonstrations along the way. This way I can show you everything I know in a video format, with a helpful exercises for each technique. This way I can also refer to a particular demo when painting more intricate things so that my tutorials can be enjoyed by all - beginners and advanced watercolorists alike. Your feedback is valued—let me know your thoughts. Enjoy the tutorials!

Thank you.

Great teaching video, thank you.

Katherine Antonini

This was a wonderful video and it shows us all the important lessons of wet on wet painting. I know that you are primarily a botanical artist, however, will you be making any tutorials like your sea lion on the rock and your polar bear on the mountain of ice and snow? I would love to see those two in a real time video. They are beautiful and both great teaching lessons on wet on wet techniques and also charging and lifting. 😻

Do you have a special technique to flatten the watercolor paper after you have finished a painting?

Anna Bucciarelli

I haven't encountered this problem much with 140lbs paper blocks as they dry out flat being glued on 4 sides, but you can iron it gently {from the back, on low heat and through a cotton cloth}.

Thank you Katherine! I definitely will be adding animals this year. For the sealion - probably a similar painting but with more than one resting on the rocks; I have a few good references in my library. I wasn't planning another bear. In terms of the process, I have to re-paint these studies and record in full - the editing process takes a long time.

Great summary and reminder. Love the technique for creating waves.
