👋 just wanted to quickly say hi and share a new composition I am working on this weekend. Not sure which plants I will add yet, but this Bird of Paradise caught my attention - the coloring is amazing. I am leaning towards fancy green leaves OR dark red orchids.

Quick question: would you be interested in a separate video of the sketching process alone? I am using my usual anchor point method that I showed you in the Orchid video. This could be another sketching demo using a bird 😊

PS: thank you everyone for leaving your feedback on the book topics - I am slowly going through your answers one by one organizing the feedback into themes so I can address it in the book ❤️

Hi Anna, Yes, I would love to see a sketching video of this bird! Also, I like the idea of fancy green leaves to compliment the bird since the it is so beautiful and colourful. Orchids might take our attention away from the bird because your painted orchids are so beautiful lol😊

I would live it. What do you think of the graphite aquarelle pencils. For sketching on watercolor paper. Do they tint the paper. Or not enough to matter.

The bird is gorgeous. I did see two paintings of yours on YouTube, with colorful bird with beautiful flowers. They are gorgeous paintings so flowers would be beautiful but so would luscious green or tropical plants. So what are you in the mood to teach, I know it will be beautiful.

I would love to see a video showing sketching process of this bird or any other bird. This bird is gorgeous and has very vibrant colors. Adding flowers would only take the focus away from it. A branch it is sitting on and some tropical foliage in more distant background would underscore the beauty and features of this bird much better than flowers. This species does not feed on flower nectar anyway. Thank you for working on the video of this bird for us!

The bird is called Andean Cock-of-the-rock (Rupicola peruvianus), lives in cloud forests of Andes, and feeds on insects and fruits. It is a national bird of Peru.

Hi Anna. I don’t think this bird belongs to the Bird of Paradise family: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bird-of-paradise. The Andean cock-of-the-rock belongs to the Cotingidae family of birds that live only in South America. Btw. You may look at some of the Bird of Paradise species (males) and pick one for a tutorial. These birds have astonishing shapes, colors, and feather patterns perfect for painting. Their breeding dances are legendary.

Thank you James! Just finished the bird:) As tempted as I am to add flowers I think its going to just to have tropical leaves. It's sooooo vibrant! Looking for leaf references atm We've done Monstera already, I need something super fancy but not too vibrant {more like deep blue green for the orange complementary }.

I know I’m already a Patreon, but I would adore the no commentary videos of some of your YouTube paintings. There have been several that really speak to me, but I totally get that you only have so much time for lesson versions. You could start with the pomegranates …. no selfish reason why…. ;-) Even just posting a picture of the line sketch and the final to Patreon would be worth it in my opinion.
