Welcome to Part #1 of the "Bird and Pomegranates" watercolor demonstration. This real-time recording includes the full painting process, along with a list of materials below. The final painting reference, along with black and white outlines, is also attached.

Please note: there is no voice-over provided for demo compositions as they are just my own creative exercises,  containing too many experimental pigments and techniques, while often lacking detailed photo references. You can explore fully narrated tutorials by browsing Tutorial collections, including Botanical, Birds and other compositions: https://www.patreon.com/c/AnnaBucciarelli/collections

Ok that’s it. I’m quitting my job and painting this!

jk.art.studio

I saw this on YouTube and I’m thrilled that I get to watch your whole process! Thank you Anna!! 🤗❤️

Anna Bucciarelli

Sadly there are no good references - pixabay removed the photo of the bird by the I got to painting, and I just decided to go rouge and test 500 different pigments, reserving this as an excise for potentially future fruit tutorials. Knowing your skills though - you can easily do this without any instruction ❤️

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you Jeannie. Just to clarify as I mentioned in the comments this is not a fully produced tutorial but rather a demo of the process that I am offering as a bonus to regular tutorials 😊

jk.art.studio

Yes, I remember you mentioning that in the YouTube video. I just love to watch you paint and the music is so nice too! 💕

Linda (Daily) Locklear

I am so excited to try this one! I was stumped on which tutorial to do next, and then this one came up on YT. 🥰🥰🥰

Yuki Dickson

Thank you Anna! I’m so excited to paint this with you

Debra Williams

I lovvvvvved this painting and I'm so happy to see the process! Thanks Anna!

Monalisa Mackey

Hi Anna, I was thinking that for these bonus videos it would be lovely if you could put a photo of your palette with the colour named next to each paint so that we would be sure of each colour you are using as you paint. Is that something you can add as a reference for this demo and future demos, please? It would be very helpful since there is no voiceover for the demos 😊

Sammie Bryant

I enjoyed seeing the process of this beautiful painting but this student misses or needs the narration. I agree with the above, seeing the palette might help a bit or maybe it's for advance level. and one day I will be able to paint this. In the meantime, I am working one of your other tutorials and you are a great teacher. I look forward from learning a lot from you.

Kaye Saunders

Hi Anna, I am looking forward to painting this. I do love your work - and painting with you. I was excited when I saw this demo on YouTube - and disappointed to hear that It wasn't meant to be a fully voiced over tutorial here on Patreon. Two of my favourite paintings that I have done from your tutorials are the Sunbird with Lemons and the Pears, which I painted with a Kookaburra instead of the Partridge (having expanded the pear tree). Whether I will get the same effect of the pomegranates without your voiceover, is yet to be seen. While I would love to see the pallet with pigments named, as suggested by Monalisa, I would suspect that might be difficult for you to do - but one suggestion I would make for demonstrations like this, would be to include photographs of the various stages - layer 1, layer 2 etc. I find that tutorials with a number of progress photos of your work, make it easier for me to achieve a better result.

I love watching these, but I’d rather watch them on my tv than my phone or tablet. Is there a link to watch on YouTube?

John

While I enjoy and learn a lot lot from your voiced tutorials, I'm really excited about painting by watching over your shoulder and figuring out some of the shadings and techniques on my own. It may take a lot of trial and error, but this, too, is a great way to learn. Thanks for giving us this option.

Kaye Saunders

I don't know whether there is a link to watch on YouTube - but this may help. I watch these tutorials on my TV by casting the image from the computer to the TV - using Google Chromecast. You probably know of it, but if not... it is a device you plug into one of the USB ports on the back of your TV - and then by logging into Google on your computer and choosing the option to cast the image to the TV, anything that is on your computer screen is then cast to your TV. Having logged into Google and set up to cast - you then simply log into Patreon as per normal, choose the tutorial you want to watch - and run it on your TV screen. It is not a terribly expensive device - here in Australia it is available on Amazon for AU$56. It is available on E-bay for around AU$23.

How did you like Tundra Violet? I see from the pigments that this is ultramarine blue + potters pink. Do you think it would be worth mixing these two to get this color? Or just potters pink?? I bought a couple of these super granulating colors from Schminke and am just not a fan.

Xue L

Seconding this - love this demo, would you be open to sharing the YT links? :)

Joy Noble

I enjoyed the challenge of this very much! I felt like it was a great step beyond the full tutorials (I've done all but 2 or 3 of them now) - a little like taking off the the training wheels of a bike with someone still there to catch you if you start to fall. We still get the benefit of the beautiful composition and your vision of how to complete it, but more independence in the actual painting process. I have learned and am learning so much from you - thank you!

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you Joy! I am glad there will be a place for these here in additional to the regular content:)

Anna Bucciarelli

I was thinking about this...thank you for the question! So i splurged and bought several from Schminke. Absolutely LOVED tundra but hated the others... it was forrest green and some kind of brown. Too pale for my liking. So i think for me its hit and miss. I found a lot of use for tundra as it replaces all the different umbras and ultramarines etc that i typically use for tree bark and rocks - in exactly the same way you've described. Just mixing them together with ultramarine and some water drops will give you a rather similar granulating effect. I will keep using Tundra because i like the intensity and consistency but i won't be buying any more schminke granulating colors - at least for now:)

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you Kaye - noted. I will add process shots next time I post something like this. I will also do a separated pomegranates tutorial with voiceover.

Anna Bucciarelli

HI All, Tank you for your feedback. I've posted about this before - unfortunately I keep seeing my YT {and skillshare} videos downloaded in full appearing on random 3rd party websites... so I will need to stop this practice because its clear I can't securely share them outside of Patreon. The issue is that I am sharing "unlisted" videos that technically anyone can watch without membership and there is a lot of theft going on. That said, I will be opening Youtube memberships to the same content at the same price in May, so if your preference is to watch on the big screen - I completely get it, and working on an option for that.

Kaye Saunders

Hi Anna - I am sorry to hear that unscrupulous people have been pirating your videos. This obviously makes it difficult for you and for anyone who prefers to watch your tutorials via YT. I actually posted this info a couple of days ago and decided to post it again, as you are more likely to see it as a reply to your own post. For anyone interested in being able to watch Anna's tutorials on their TV Screen - there is a way to do it without risking Anna's work being pirated. I watch these tutorials by casting the image from the computer to the TV - using Google Chromecast. You probably know of this option, but if not... Google Chromecast is fairly old technology: a device you plug into one of the USB ports on the back of your TV - and then, by logging into Google on your computer and choosing the option to cast the image to the TV anything that is on your computer screen is then cast to your TV. Having logged into Google via your computer and set up to cast - you then simply log into Patreon as per normal, choose the tutorial you want to watch - and run it on your computer, watching it on your TV. It is not a terribly expensive device - here in Australia it is available on Amazon for AU$56. There is a also a version available (may not be the original) on Ebay for around AU$23. I hope this helps.

Anna Bucciarelli

Thank you so much Kaye - this is very useful information! Would you mind re-posting it on our FaceBook group when you have a moment? I think this will be super helpful for everyone:)

Angelica

Hi Anna. Firstly I'd like to say I really enjoy your videos and already learned a lot from you about the colours and how to use them I love this composition and started to do it, we will see how this go. I was just wondering if it would be possible to include 'step' photos? My biggest issue is to figure the layers and tend to do all in one go creating a mess :)

Sandra Matheny

Hi Anna, This student also needs the voice-overs, please reconsider and do a voice-over. You have such a lovely voice! Sandra

Anna Bucciarelli

Hi Sandra! I am still doing regular tutorials with voice overs 😊 this is simply bonus content showing some of my experiments. Voiceovers take weeks to produce so I am only able to narrate a few per month but was asked to show other studies I am doing so I am now offering those as well simply as a recording.

Carol Brantner

I finished this bird on a different type of paper. I loved painting it and used some different colors. I am now going to paint it on Arches. Your class is a blast.

Patricia Gundersen

How do I get to the voiced over tutorial from here???
