Not as late as I feared. You want some... aftermath. Here it is. I'm not entirely happy with the chapter, but I will probably go back during the week to go over it with a clear head, preferably when my mind isn't half-addled by the new heat wave. Anyway, let me know what you think. You can read the previous chapters in the collection.

Why doesn’t Jon miss Satin? Aren’t they lovers?

Woronve

For all his ambitions and his work to get the crown, Jon does have the virtue of having his eyes wide open to the difficulties he will encounter. Honnestly for all his inherent disadvantages, he is positionning himself in a way that should satisfy many.

Nice! I survived my surgery woo!

Jon will have to depower Hightowers in some way in the future. I am suprised he was so geberous to then here. Thanks for the chapter!

Good chapter. Jon moving the surviving Northmen into King’s Landing and giving them a portion of the city was a nice touch. Marry them to the locals and their descendants would be Crownlander/Northern, a lot like the Clawmen, and more loyal than average to Targaryen Mk II. It might also dilute the power of the Faith in Westeros’ capital. Between them and the Clawmen, Jon’s descendants might have something approaching a normal power base. And it might change the culture in King’s Landing. Arrogant lords might be picking up their teeth if the wander into the Northen section with an attitude. That kind of independence might spread. Almost like the Gascons in pre-Revolution France. No matter how poor, they were s good as any gentleman.

Well done. Though I would have liked more interaction with the Northern Lords and Riverlands Lords and Ladies. And more needs to be shown about his interactions with the Western and Reacher Lords and Ladies. Having a Northern quarter in King's Landing might just keep the city a bit more less of a snake pit for the next few centuries. A near constant influx of 2nd or third sons, or cousins, from poor and rough, but honest and forthright Northmen will force others to behave. Especially if they are paired up with the now elevated Clawmen and those coming from there. Kind of hard to scheme when at best you'll be beaten black and blue, and at worst having your head chopped off by people who hold honour and reputation higher than the gold in their pockets. The Citadel also needs to be watched and curtailed or the next generations of dragons will be poisoned leading to their extinction. And dragons will sorely be needed in a few centuries. The Faith of the Seven will howl and cry about an influx of Old God's worshippers into the most influential city in Westeros but will remain impotent if at least a few of the next generation of dragon riders also hold to the Old Gods. And since Jon "I chop dragons for fun" Stark is an Old Gods worshipper and, in this timeline, arguably the greatest King since Aegon, it'll take a while before subsequent rulers abandon the Old Gods without being looked on as lesser, and thus inviting instability. His children will most probably also inherit his skinchanging ability, something that the Faith decries as evil, and thus not endearing it to his children and their children. "That's a problem for the reavers". Exactly.

Generous terms now to work in the shadows later in games of thrones. I am glad Baela chose love.

Nice roundup for the war ending, securing the Southern lands and fealties is essential. Now is time for the epilogue, securing supplies and munitions for the future, possibly an open bounty for Valyrian steel items to be brought to King's Landing to be made into weapons, and possibly introducing dragon glass into court as a unique style of fashion or ornaments to increase mining efforts and ensure they'll already have the infrastructure to fashion weapons from it.

Wunderwaffles

Shame about the Hightowers, Was hoping to see them punished and reduced to a knightly house and lose their seat at Old Town.

Winterrrose

So what became of Alys Rivers? Will the Greens scheme to put Aemond’s child on the throne?

Rhett Sellers

Hehehe, Jon's viciousness with the ironborn is amusing.

TyrantGod

House Hightower should be punished and crippled. Historically IRL that’s what happened to rebellious vassals. Sparing them can show weakness

John

Just realized with Jon asking for 300 clansmen he’s basically got his own Varangian guard.
